Star Trek Voyager 5x11 - Latent Image
Seven: It is unsettling. You say that I am a human being and yet I am also Borg. Part of me not unlike your replicator. Not unlike the Doctor. Will you one day choose to abandon me as well?
Latent Image Gifset series Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
My first introduction to Seven of Nine was through Picard, and I just love her all growed up <3
STAR TREK: PICARD - S3E1 The Next Generation
Chapter 5 is up ❤️
Fandoms: Star Trek: Voyager x Star Trek: Discovery
Relationship: Kathryn Janeway x Seven of Nine
Rating: Mature
Summary: After Captain Janeway contracts an illness during an expedition to an uninhabited planet and orders USS Voyager to leave her behind, a certain hardheaded Astrometrics officer isn't so keen on abandoning her Captain. As Janeway and Seven learn to navigate the strange new dynamic forming between them, it becomes apparent that the planet they now call home has a much deeper story to tell--one that seems to defy logic, reality, and even the natural order of time itself.
Why don't I remember this...
Star Trek: Discovery S3E8 The Sanctuary | "You can peel off a part of his face if you want."
I want to see Captain Seven, dammit.
Star Trek: Picard The Star Gazer
Her core structures were much the same, her eyes were still blue and the shapes of the plating along her face identical to what Michael remembered. The colors, though, were different–black, charcoal, white and gold. The white threading of her uniform moved almost seamlessly into the synthetics around her lips and nose, the dark fabric melting into the inky black planes of her neck and throat. She was taller, more imposing somehow, but the stately, proud Airiam Michael knew was absent. This one's eyes, her very being, seemed altogether broken. Like the Airiam in the brig, she was in pain, too. But this one's pain was much different and it could not be helped.
Snippet from fic 4 "Breaking Free" of my Airiam series, and I've been wanting to do this photo edit for a while. I finally found some time, and even though the new idea I've got floating around in my head is a ways off, I am very excited to be able to write her as a villain ^^
This version is also the one I envision in "The Measure of Logic."
...I don't know why I'm like this.

Another snippet from "The Measure of Logic."
Janeway didn’t need protection–she’d never needed that–but Seven couldn’t overlook her own compulsion to provide it. Perhaps it was a desire for control–an affinity the likes of which the blonde knew both women shared. Perhaps it was merely an aversion to the sense of abandonment she’d foolishly allowed to creep into her system from the first time Tuvok had implored that Voyager leave her Captain behind. That same fear, compounded when she’d learned that Janeway had agreed, had all but sent Seven of Nine tumbling over the precipice of a neurosis she had never known to exist before then. It was never an option to leave the Captain alone on the planet. The concept was incomprehensible, Voyager’s plans advancing into a foreign, unintelligible language that even the Borg could not have successfully translated.
writing a relationship. is it healthy? no. but is it hot? oh, absolutely.
i love a good train wreck sometimes
"I’m not supposed to be here."
Breathe, Judith commanded herself. In and out. It’s just a ship. Just another goddamn ship. But it wasn’t. She wasn’t sure how she knew. Ithaca was beautiful, the flawless, blinding white of her walls an homage to the glory of Gestalt’s ambition. The pride of her builders shown in every bolt and every weld, but every inch of her demanded deference from the ones whose lives she’d carry into the abyss. Nearly a thousand souls aboard and yet Ithaca had none, her hull an empty carapace against the vastness of the void, and so, she required theirs. The vessel rumbled beneath Judith’s feet, but it wasn’t pleasant like Ardent. It was a warning to her, like Ithaca knew Judith wasn’t like the rest–like she knew Judith didn’t really belong there at all. Judith was an intrusion, an unexpected variable this entity hadn’t foreseen–one she didn’t quite understand how to bend. She doesn't want me here.
I've refused to start watching this show until I finish my stories so I don't end up with more crossovers, but...

The Ithaca Mandate: Chapter 14 [Snippet]
Judith cast her attention out the grimy freighter windows. In the distance, another vessel hovered in the gap between stars. She was so far off that she looked little more than a specter–a vestige of alabaster against velvety black, a shiver of movement in the void. The red bloom of her engines was just starting to grow, expanding as if to obscure her from the insolent violation of Judith’s gaze. Ithaca had arrived six days before Ardent to render aid to the stricken freighter, but her presence there was grudging, a sour token of compliance to her Captain’s demands. Judith could sense the great ship’s resentment in the way she loomed, her colossal impatience pulsing across the expanse in time to her engines’ ominous burgeoning glow. The red swelled until it encompassed her entirely, and then with a violent flare Ithaca was gone, snapped out of existence as though she had never been there at all. Her departure seemed almost petulant, her sudden absence so striking it stole the air from Judith’s lungs and returned it to them molten. She stared at the empty place where Ithaca had been, blistered and breathless, unsettled by an instinct she couldn’t define.
I stumbled across this site a few weeks ago--lots of useful info for if and when you feel like your descriptions are getting repetitive!
Sneak peek of one of my favorite sections from later in this fic.
A hardness overcame Seven then, the alloys in her spine chaining her fractured emotions back together in some grotesque distortion of what Janeway had always insisted they could be. Was this what it meant to be human? This labyrinth of consternation and insecurity and doubt? To feel, from one moment to the next, while drowning under the gravity of her inability to draw any meaningful connections between them? What was the purpose? Janeway found her then, and Seven realized she had dropped into a crouch closer to the habitat floor. The tentative ghost of a palm encapsulated her knee as the Captain crouched before her and Seven carefully deflected its benevolence by righting herself. She feared the touch would melt the metal of the implant concealed beneath the biosuit and burn them both. “Must...you always…touch me?”

“People are staring,” Judith choked out, her mouth going dry. “Forget about them,” Lyris replied, steering Judith's head back to her shoulder. “You say that like it’s easy,” Judith muttered, even as she felt herself falling back into the strange safety of the embrace. “It’s hard not to wonder what they’re seeing.” “You're beautiful, and I’m different,” Lyris said, sounding more terse this time. The gruff timbre of her voice rumbled through every point of contact, a formidable cadence that suggested she wasn’t entirely unaffected by Judith’s admission. “They're going to stare because they don't understand.”
One of my favorite aspects of writing characters is really trying to get into how their minds might work--and when it comes to pairings, I greatly enjoy making something out of nothing.
Prior to 2023, I wasn't a Star Trek fan. I had seen the newer movies, and as a lifelong sci-fi nerd, they were fun to watch, but I always preferred Stargate and Farscape. I've historically been one to connect with characters who are "different"--Seven, Scorpius, Airiam, Saru--and I was in the midst of a particularly bad mental health spiral when I happened to turn on Star Trek: Picard. Seven of Nine was immediately someone that piqued my interest, not only because she was canonically LGBTQ, but because she was clearly someone that had a backstory. This led me to Voyager, because I wanted to see that backstory.
Shipping Janeway and Seven dragged me out of a 6 year writing hiatus, and I started working on a fanfic, though I never intended to post it, and I never finished it.
In 2024, I started Discovery, and was completely unprepared for how much S2E09 would mess me up. I'm a sucker for a tragic character on a good day. Make it a character we didn't know much about, then add an emotional scene between her and the female lead who barely ever interacted and apparently this is all it takes--that and being a bit grouchy about rare pair voids. For the first time since 2017 I was able to not only write something, but FINISH writing it. And then write and finish five more. More than that, I was actually happy with how they turned out, and how my writing evolved as they went from a one-shot to the longest thing I'd ever written.
Sometimes it seemed strange to Burnham, feeling that Airiam was beautiful. She suspected not everyone did, that they might see Michael as defective or faulty for feeling that way about someone–some thing–like that. She knew from the outside it was easy to forget Airiam had once been human, had once looked just like every other human aboard Discovery, but they only ever saw the augmentations the Commander couldn't hide beneath the trim navy and silver Starfleet uniform. They couldn't see the rest, the places where metal and machine fused into the organic remnants of a woman who had lost far more than just her life.
Brains are weird, and they latch onto weird things. As terrible as I consider Discovery overall, I can't complain about the fact that it was able to bring something back to me I hadn't been able to do in many years. The fact that it has now also translated into letting me write my own original fiction again, and allowed me to get back into the HABIT of writing again, is something I will be forever weirdly grateful for. The last time I finished an original piece was 2007. I'm looking forward to changing that next month <3
This was my favorite discovery of this past year.
Genre mix: Sci-Fi, WLW Romance, Psychological Thriller
Synopsis:
When Lieutenant Judith Quinn is jolted out of stasis by Commander Lyris to find their starship crippled and adrift, she’s dragged into a nightmare unlike any she’s ever known. But as they work to piece together what brought Ithaca to her knees and salvage what remains, Judith feels an unsettling shift in her Commander. The woman she once knew—once loved—is different, marked by the accident that drove them apart, burdened by the augmentations that keep her together, and driven by a desperation that feels frighteningly personal.
As the ship descends into ruin and old feelings transform into a lifeline, Judith must confront the disturbing realization that the real danger may lie not in the wreckage surrounding them, but in how much of herself she will abandon to reconnect with what matters the most.
Some of my processes for planning out fics...but fear not! I can't follow the multiple timeline things either 🥲
Finally got myself a tumblr. Finally posted on tumblr...mostly because everyone else on AO3 has a tumblr.
Does this mean I know how to use it?
Of course not ^^
I write fanfiction, mainly Star Trek, femslash, and for some reason, cyborgs are the thing I can write about lately.
