the most life-changing customer i’ve ever had at work was a guy who came up to me and my coworker when we were at cash and said ‘hey kids…. wanna see something?’
and I said sure because why the fuck not, i’m here for a good time not a long time, and this motherfucker pulled a railroad spike out of his pocket.
A GODDAMN
ANTIQUE
RAILROAD
SPIKE
It was a fucking foot long chunk of steel that weighed about five pounds on its own so i was like ‘huh….. neat’
and he said ‘wait. there’s more’ and he took out a screwdriver. inlaid into the head of the spike. ‘things aren’t always as they appear’ he said as he unscrewed the bit and pulled out of this goddamn railroad spike
a statue
a tiny, tiny golden statue stood on the base of this flathead screw. it was a tiny golden man standing next to a tiny golden flower with gemstones in the petals. the whole thing was smaller than my thumbnail is tall. it was detailed enough that the tiny man had facial features. it was amazing.
‘oh my god,’ i said. ‘how long did it take you to make that?’
‘here’s a word of advice,’ he said, ‘never answer that question when people ask it. it devalues your work. you’ll get faster and better at things, and be able to make more art in less time. they don’t need to know about the process, just the product’.
and he left and that’s the one artistic piece of advice i definitely wanna hold to.
don’t tell people how long it takes to make shit.
DO NOT DO THIS.
This makes me so angry.
If you work in a movie theater and you do this I have no respect for you.
My younger brother is Type 1 Diabetic.
When we go to a movie theater, we always get him diet soda. If he were to get regular when we asked for diet, we would not give him the insulin he would need for it. If that happens, his blood sugar level could go so high he could go into a coma, go blind, or even die.
If somebody gave him regular soda instead of diet without telling us, that person could be responsible for a nine-year-old being killed or blinded.
Just thinking about that makes me so angry. I get scared every time we take him to a movie in case the people working there saw this picture and decide to do the same thing.
Please signal boost this so people know.
FAREWELL
Just a lil announcement toward my new following as an artist who is now contributing to the monsterverse fandom 🐋
as they were mentioned, @ridicbird has some very neat comics and artwork (especially of their oc) and you should definitely check them out!! but yeah! Asks are open, fire away!
Tbh, the only rules to this is to keep it sfw and not to ask anything personal. I’ll only do the kaiju oc doodles for mutuals (people I follow who also follow me!) Other than that, free reign!
Really happy to see this at my local library
**“My name is Rania Youssef. I express the painful reality I live through my art and drawings. Art is my voice, my way of sharing my inner struggles with the world. At this stage, I am seeking the support of artists or donors who can help me spread my campaign and my art to reach as many people as possible.
My family’s daily expenses range between €150-200, a sum we struggle to meet every single day. My father is no longer with us—he was killed by the occupation forces during the siege of Al-Shifa Hospital, right in front of my younger siblings. Now, the responsibility of my family falls entirely on my shoulders.
I live in northern Gaza, where the situation is unbearable. You already know the brutalities committed by the occupation in this region. For political reasons, I cannot share every detail here, but I’m sure you understand.
If you are unable to donate to my campaign, you can still help by sharing it with your friends. Write a few words that capture their attention, and together, we can ensure that my family has a chance to survive.
INKtober Day 26-DR NAZO
Japanese pop-culture’s first modern supervillain, Dr Nazo has been either a disfigured human scientist or an evil alien tyrant! However, no matter the origin, this costumed clawed madman left a infamous legacy of evil schemes, from creating monsters, to building many a death ray, to trying to hurl a rouge planet right at Earth, Nazo’s misdeeds would go to inspired many a villain in both anime and manga! Only the legendary GOLDEN BAT, the super-mummy from Atlantis, has the power and means to stand in his way!
6-year-old Joan Al-Habil is has been repeatedly hospitalized due to severe gastrointestinal problems and overwhelming fatigue. This poor girl has been to multiple facilities and seen multiple doctors, undergone extensive testing (as extensive as is possible in Gaza's collapsed medical system), even having to endure an unsedated endoscopy.
She has now been diagnosed with severe gastritis due to starvation and hazardous living conditions. Remember, she and her family are living on the streets, which are cold and wet due to winter rain. Homelessness, stress, exposure to the elements, her previous injury when the lOF firebombed her tent, and malnutrition all conspire to sap little Joan of her strength.
Her condition is so serious that she even had to undergo surgery. Gastritis very rarely requires surgery to treat, so this is an indication of how dire her condition is. The surgery was successful to a degree, but she is going to need ongoing treatment to manage her symptoms.
The treatments are administered weekly and cost $500 USD (just under €500 EUR). Her family has no income and cannot afford this. If Joan goes more than a few days without treatment, her symptoms worsen rapidly, and she sometimes has to be hospitalized. It is vital that we help her family procure her treatments so that her condition does not worsen!
You can help Joan get her surgery and treatment by
