I’ve been delighted to have the chance to work with @torchrandom on all of these items. We’d take some inspirations, and they would use their beautiful art style to make something special. As the finishing touch, I would use my wordsmithing skills to tell the story these items and their inspirations are trying to convey. I have enjoyed the time I spent working to get these decorations together.
However…
We don’t think we’re gonna stop. 😅
Look forward to seeing a few more tournament items, some boss items (Oh yeah, I got a fun Minigame where you challenge a boss for the chance to leave your mark on our community. Maybe even different bosses 🤫) and we might make “item skins” for different themes when we feel bored 🤭

An excited candy: wrapped like a bow. Some people say the excitement of getting to unwrap it is so potent, you’ll be running around the room for hours. It has such a delightful little sweetness, you’ll feel refreshed in no time at all!

A small jar with two tokens visible inside. It looks too sturdy to open, but maybe a powerful foe can help...
Anti-Fear Lore:
A mischievous little juicebox. The branding claims the flavor to be “abble joos” and is unfortunately very vague about its manufacturing. Happy customers claim that, by drinking it, they are filled with a courage that knows no fear.
Instant-damage Lore:
A beautiful throwable dart marked with the sigil of a master craftsman: its many edges scatter the light like a mirrored prism. Reliably made, this dart guarantees a little bit of damage against a powerful foe when taking their challenge.
Anti-Drenched Lore:
A soft & comfy towel: provided by the tournament facilities for a small fee. It’s so absorbent, it can wipe away any spill that all other towels would ordinarily still leave Drenched.
I just know that if Joltz existed in our world in the same capacity they do here, I know a few names of people who would need to enter a 12-step program pretty quickly because of them. Comment or reblog by tagging any of your mutuals who might like sour a little too much!

Thank you for the mention, but I want to take a moment to highlight @torchrandom ‘s efforts. While I am responsible for the art for the two currencies, I am responsible for only the empty vial used in the items (thus explaining the mix of art styles). Random however, has been one of our first beta-testers and has been consistently providing us helpful feedback to make Kirby-OC-Fighting-Tournament as amazing as everyone deserves. Their recent efforts have included improving our character cards and other UI elements to make them more visually appealing. Torch has been so supportive and helpful, we even try to remind them they’ve been a volunteer and shouldn’t stress over how fast they can work. We’ve been encouraging everyone to take breaks as needed for their health and well-being. Thank you so much, Torchrandom, for what you have done, and continue to do in support of our project!

One of my first blorbos. No, I think my boy here is my very first blorbo that I gave a story to. To most everyone here, meet Morningstar for the very actual first time. I’ve never had enough faith in my artistic ability but I was finally able to bring him to life thanks to a paid commission to @lostsoulau-ask who was kind enough to work with me on this project. In-depth loreigins are something I do intend to post, albeit separately, but the gist of this blorbo is he is the leader of an oc race that had lost the primordial struggle between the evolving squid and octopus based on the nautilus cephalopod. They retreated back to the sea and, as time passed, were forced from their home and had to seek refuge in the sewers and abandoned tunnels of Kamabo Co’s deep sea metro. With the divergence of their evolution, they still evolved a human form, but without any adaptation to ink instead of water. Once again, huge shout out to @lostsoulau-ask for letting me see my son

Got issued a challenge yesterday and had to think about it a bit, cuz in the Kirby universe, there aren’t really creatures that are JUST some silly noodle. My first thought was the whip ability enemies, cuz Shelly has stretchy, elastic powers as a noodle. Unfortunately Wester is very much a dood, and Whippy’s tail doesn’t seem elastic enough (plus whippy being a cat might be too far of a stretch than I want to make). The closest match to Shelly’s stretchy elastic self was Needlous: a spiky little bug thing that curled up and rolled around. I’ll probably say it’s like a cousin of Needlous called Noodlous and when Kirby inhales it he will get the whip ability.
Behold! My Shelly. A blorbo that I can’t quite seem to shake free from. She’s an assertive, sign-spoken tentacle first thought up in a Splatoon AU, but I’ve found that the idea of a character that is literally an elastic noodle fits almost everywhere. Shelly’s current hobby is janitorial duty between bouts at fighting arenas; and while she doesn’t usually make the messes that she cleans, she’s not afraid to mop the floor with someone’s face.
