On the one hand, Maes is lucky that part of the military uniform is gloves, perfect for hiding his 'ultimate lance' ability hands! On the other hand... this boy is going to accidentally destroy so many gloves, I swear. By the end of it it's going to be less 'how did you come back from the dead' and more 'how and why do you keep tearing your gloves at the fingertips?'

for the record, i think he probably can use the ultimate lance/spear/blade/whatever without the gloves, but without the muscle memory he doesn’t really know how. somehow the gloves help.

For anyone saying that he doesn't look like the Arakniss we saw in 'Daddy Issues', Vivzie said he would be given a redesign upon appearing in the show. Also, he seems to have the same head, hair, and body shape of angel. He was probably Cherri's ex, and she might have met Angel through him. That last bit's just speculation though.
