my #1 tip for school is to keep it simple and sustainable
don't get crazy with your bullet journal with the expectation you'll have that energy every week/month. sometimes its just gonna be a barebones checklist and that's okay! it is first and foremost to keep you organized, dont stress over consistency or aesthetic cohesion. same with your class notes; if you focus too much on the quality of your handwriting you'll forget what you were writing in the first place (ask me how i know)
dont go nuts color coding stuff bc eventually, inevitably, one of your highlighters will die, they wont carry folders in your Designated Color, etc. dont let that collapse your system
dont chunk up your time doing 15 minutes kf math 15 minutes of english 15 minutes of chemistry. you'll go crazy trying to be more efficient (ask me how i know!!! ๐ญ) and retain less
basically dont spend so much time thinking about how you're gonna study that you don't focus on what you're studying. thats what made me have to drop out of my latin class in college; i was so sure that if i could just devise the perfect system the classwork would just flow and i'd be golden. well i never found the perfect system (bc it doesnt exist) and i went weeks without doing any work bc i was so petrified to start in suboptimal conditions. you know "do it scared"? do it sloppily. do it messily. do it on the back of a napkin. do it with so little fanfare that the anxiety doesn't have time to take hold before you're done.
Download all your sources or print them so you can turn off your wifi
Give your phone to someone
Just. WRITE. Writing is analysing, youโll get more ideas as you write. It doesnโt need to be perfect, for now you can just blurt out words and ideas randomly. You can fix it later.
Create a skeleton/structure before writing.
Stop before you get exhausted. Itโs best to stop writing when you still have some energy and inspiration left, this will also motivate you to get started again next time.
Make a to do list
Work in bite sizes. Even if itโs not much, as long as you put some ideas on paper or do some editing.
Simple language =/= boring language, simple language = clear language.
Own your words. If they are not your words, state this clearly in the text, not just in the footnotes.
STOP BEFORE YOU GET EXHAUSTED. Listing it again because itโs easily one of the best tips a teacher has ever given me.
Itโs June 1st. Congratulations on wasting half of the year. Loser.
But wait! Progress does not live by the time constraints of the calendar! December 31st is not the last day to have it all together! January 1st isnโt the only day to start! Effort counts even when itโs not evenly spaced out across 365 days!
Starting a Japanese sdv game!! Wish me luck T.T

Sooo updates?
I haven't posted in a while I know. I forgot about my goals for a bit and then I was terribly behind schedule and didn't have time to post.

Last months:
๐จ I have managed to finish 4 artfight attacks and start another one before the end of July. My goal was five but it was my first time joining this event so I'm proud of myself. It was a fun experience and everyone on the site is very nice.
๐ About homework... I'm pretty disappointed on myself. I procrastinated until the beginning of school and ended up with a lot of overdue work during the first days. Thankfully I got my sh-t together and finished all my homework so I can focus on lessons. There's plenty of time to get better I guess...

Now:
๐ Studying for a presentation I have tomorrow, in English (second language). I hope I'll do well... I'm very nervous about talking in front of the class. After this I'll focus on science and math since the tests are coming soon, I have a lot of notes to copy and study but I think it's manageable.
๐จ Art practice is currently paused to focus on school work. When I'll have enough time again I would like to learn about character design because I have an oc concept I would like to improve.

"Don't use Libby because it costs libraries too much, pirate instead" is such a weird, anti-patron, anti-author take that somehow manages to also be anti-library, in my professional librarian-ass opinion.
It's well documented that pirating books negatively affects authors directly* in a way that pirating movies or TV shows doesn't affect actors or writers, so I will likely always be anti-book piracy unless there's absolutely, positively no other option (i.e. the book simply doesn't exist outside of online archives at all, or in a particular language).
Also, yeah, Libby and Hoopla licenses are really expensive, but libraries buy them SO THAT PATRONS CAN USE THEM. If you're gonna be pissed at anybody about this shitty state of affairs, be pissed at publishing companies and continue to use Libby or Hoopla at your library so we can continue to justify having it to our funding bodies.
One of the best ways to support your library having services you like is to USE THOSE SERVICES. Yes, even if they are expensive.
*Yes, this is a blog post, but it's a blog post filled with links to news articles. If you can click one link, you can click another.
and then there were none spoilers under the cut
its so funny that wargrave went to all that trouble to create two aliases that fit his little u. n. owen = unknown hint and then he had to spell it out because none of the others even realized it
