i wrote an essay in 2021 all about how growing up fat had a significant impact on my relationship to the queer community and i suspect the same is true for many other fat and queer people. my identity and labels have shifted around since then but the sentiment still very much remains.
i think it's important as we celebrate pride to take time to think about the significant hurdles that fat people face in the queer community, from lack of representation, exclusion, and internal feelings of undesirability to significant medical discrimination, especially for fat trans people.
