I Made A Spiderman Patch For My Bag! I Used A Picture Of Him As A Reference (I'm Not Sure If It's From

i made a spiderman patch for my bag! i used a picture of him as a reference (I'm not sure if it's from the comics or fan-made). it's difficult to keep proportions accurate when embroidering, so the arm and hand on the first outline ended up being a bit wonky:

My black embroidered outline of Spiderman on black fabric. The pose is described on the reference image
my reference of spiderman: a drawing of him from the waist up, turned to the right but his head facing the viewer. his hand is held up as if for a handshake, and the speechbubbles say "You remember me? Spider-Man."

i later fixed it when i blocked in the colors, simplifying some of the lighting in the original image to make it more clear. the head slowly became more squished since the fabric kept warping, but not too badly:

The outline is now filled in with red, blue, and light blue to match Spiderman's suit patterns. The arm and hand are now fixed and the proportions are more accurate
Purple highlights are added to the edges of his head, arm, chest, etc

then i added the web detailing to his suit, cut off the excess fabric, and attached it to the front pocket of my bag alongside my spiderman and deadpool pins:

Thin black thread was added to create the webbing design of his suit and the spider on the front, on top of all the color
A photo of my black bag covered in pins, and on the front left pocket it shows my new Spiderman patch roughly sewn on with white thread

Some of us are going to flee America, some of us are going to fight in America, some of us will lay low in America, some of us might be executed in America.

Whatever the outcome for you personally, weather against your will or by your choice, know you are not a better or worse, a more or less important, person. You are not a coward for fleeing. You are not an idiot for fighting. You are not a traitor for surviving.

You are not at fault for being a victim.

a digital drawing of a vibrant green field, the rolling hills covered in white flowers and little pebbles. in the foreground is a white marble pillar structure with a domed roof. in the distance are green mountains, and a greenish sky shining rays of light on a flock of birds.

peace and quiet

for about a week now I've been working on a DIY vest. it's not a battle vest, but i am taking inspiration from some of the patch ideas and maybe adding spikes

here's my process so far:

(EDITED with image descriptions - thanks for the reminder in the tags!!)

photo of a pale blue denim vest in a bucket in a bathtub
photo of the vest now dyed dark grey

i dyed a pale blue vest with one full bottle of graphite synthetic dye. it's still sadly a little blue, but it's dark enough that it isn't super noticable, so I'll live. if you have any questions about the exact process, ill answer them in the comments!

photo of my hand in the vest's pockets to show how deep they are
photo of the vest's pockets from the inside to show to fabric i used - blue flannel
photo of an inside pocket i made for the vest. it's white fabric with words embroidered with black thread. i embroidered snippets from a post on Tumblr by turboennui. it reads "Laika's still up there. Not her body, sure, but her soul is. Up there the stars are a great big field. And look, she's running so fast - godamn, look at her go."

i then added two regular pockets after seam ripping the fake ones - why do they even put fake pockets on these - and two inner pockets using the shape of the upper pocket as a guide. one of them is embroidered with quotes from a post by turboennui on here about Laika, the first dog in space sent from Russia

photo of the inside of the vest where you can see the grey hood is attached to the inner collar by six black buttons

then i added a detachable hood taken from an old sweatshirt, which is attached to the vest via six buttons. i get anxious when i don't have a hood on my clothes, so if i don't wear this vest over a sweatshirt, i still have the option to have more comfort

digital drawing i did of my plan for the back panel of the vest. it shows a bunch of curling black ferns in the foreground, a large moth in/on them, and behind them all is a night sky full of colorful planets, stars, and meteors.
photo of the beginnings of my embroidery of the back panel - a single curling fern, sewn with black thread on black fabric

yesterday, i planned out and began embroidering the back panel. it will be a detachable piece of black fabric from an old button up shirt, connected only with safety pins so i don't have to commit to a theme and instead have multiple artworks to swap out. this one is a few black ferns and a pale blue moth (type undecided) atop a starry night sky background

if you guys have any ideas of stuff to add or embroider, or tips for making a denim vest in general, comments are greatly appreciated! ill post another update once the vest is finished

the front of my denim vest, which is covered in patches that i embroidered myself. there are alien patches, bone and teeth patches, a call of duty patch, and a ghost (the band) patch. i also made the right breast pocket look like a monster with teeth and a tongue, and added a loop to the other which I'm currently hanging mini hand cuffs from.
the back of my denim vest which has a spine patch, purple fabric stripes, a large blue jay patch, and an astronaut patch. also, the only patch i haven't made myself, the moth patch right under the collar.

vest update

there's a few patches that I've temporarily removed to make room for the blue jay piece i added, but I'll probably reattach those to the back

here's a close up of the blue jay, which i made out of clothing scraps and embroidery thread

a digital fullbody drawing of Sebastian, a tall assassin with long silky green hair. he wears dark pants, shiny black combat boots, a tight black tshirt, and a black gas mask. he also has an army green vest, cargo belt, and multiple patches strapped to his legs. he's standing with his arms crossed, with a slight twist at the waist, looking to the left. the whole thing is on a background of bright red.

i redrew an older OC of mine - Sebastian

i don't have much lore on him, except that he was hired to assassinate young bartender Azrael, but was unsuccessful. i hope to expand on their world soon, why he was hired to assassinate Azrael, why he failed, and what they do next.

older drawing of him and Azrael under the cut

a screenshot of a pinterest pin. the pin is of an older digital drawing of Sebastian straddling Azrael, pointing a gun at him. he's wearing dark clothes still, and has the same flowing green hair, but without a gas mask, so his hooked nose is visible. Azrael is laying flat on his back. he's a smaller, slightly more tan man wearing a sleeveles button up, dark pants, and shiny platform shoes. his bleached blond hair is up in a short ponytail and the bangs hang over one side. he also has a gun, but it's in his hand on the ground, pointed away from Sebastian.
