here's a little comic, it's not completely show!gomens compliant but its headcanons i enjoy
comic notes under cut :)
I enjoy Az already realising he likes Crowley by the time Adam appears but hasn't yet worked out what to do with that information bc acts-of-service Crowley Can't Talk, Wont Talk.
Crowley on the other hand has been VERY GOOD at ignoring why he spends so much of his time around Az so only on the crux of YOU'RE GOING TO LOOSE HIM did anything manage to force its way through to his brain. (i did not enjoy crowley being told he was in love with az in s2, i think he could have worked it out himself)
i rly enjoy hcs where they started sleeping together and with humans for fun (i mean the ox ribs scene sets some v good precedent for this) az sleeps with humans bc he indulges! he likes pleasure! crowely on the other hand is very bad at catching feelings and doesnt like it when they die so has mostly only slept with az (did i mention he's VERY good at ignoring his feelings) but they probably haven't slept together for a few hundred years when adam pops up.
my compliant show!hcs are still that az knows he loves crowley (i mean the scene with jim where he leaps out of the chair to attempt to protect crowley saying no he defo doesnt know ANYONE who he feels that way with, don't look closely at anyone he is with) and is just sort of sitting on it still, waiting for any hint from crowley, planning a ball definitely only for humans and no other reason. Crowley is obviously very protective of Az but he still hasn't clicked why he's worried about him but he doesn't have the excuse of heaven or hell anymore so it wouldn't have taken much for him to work it out (hello one of his first lines in s2 is "you ever think, what's the point?" the point is love you idiot)
(book!gomens is just they're already married and have been fucking for centuries but the book just doesnt mention that.)

Crumbling
//raph and donnie comfort 🙌🙌
i feel like raph would be prone to overthinking when he’s alone and it’s too quiet, so donnie stops by to check on him and provide comfort and distractions
I think another big thing to consider about the end of ep 6 and Aziraphale’s decision to try and change heaven is what he just saw take place with Gabriel a few minutes beforehand.
His ex-boss Gabriel that, to Aziraphale at least, embodied everything wrong with how heaven thought and operated just had a complete change of heart and rejected heaven. So it’s possible that in Aziraphale’s mind, if one of the highest ranking angels had been able to change and reject the system, then it’s possible for everyone else in heaven to change as well. I think that’s also why he felt Crowley would have such a vital role in that change, because he believes there is so much to love in Crowley and he hoped that he would be able to show that to heaven and make them change too, just like he and Gabriel had changed partly because their love of a demon.
I think the Metatron kind of topped off that hope by making it seem that he was receptive to departing from the status quo as well. He mentioned that he too has tried human food and insists that Aziraphale indulges unlike the other, more uptight angels that belittled him for his interest in human delights. He then waxes off about how Aziraphale would be a great influence on and leader of heaven despite him going against heaven on so many occasions, which Aziraphale might have taken to mean that the Metatron would be receptive to altering the system to be more inline with Aziraphale’s philosophy.
So of course if both the Metatron and Gabriel, the two (or well, formerly in Gabriel case) highest ranking individuals in heaven sans God herself, had been open to change/abandoning the old heaven, then Aziraphale had a solid chance at changing the system to help everyone, especially Crowley and himself.
Just some food for thought
Slight book of Bill spoilers!
Him being a pathetic ex was not on my 2024 bingo card....
good ending
“Next comes spite. First, it stares back at you in the mirror. Then, it’s those around you. They’re wearing your face, and you theirs… You know, he joined because of me.”
Thank you, Swansea.
