I know that it seems as though things cooled down in Palestine after the ceasefire, but they haven't. Sheikh Jarrah is now under blockade, no one from outside of the neighbourhood goes in or out smoothly, and sometimes Palestinian residents resort to sneaking in. The court order to forcefully expel Palestinians to replace them with settlers is still awaiting.
Silwan, also in East Jerusalem, has been facing severe colonial violence and segregation and is awaiting the same faith as Sheikh Jarrah, where the residents of 6 neighbourhoods out of 12 are going to be displaced and expelled by Israeli authorities and U.S. settler organizations.
Facebook and Instagram are deliberately censoring Palestinians, labelling almost every post, story, and comment as sensitive content. Not to mention the Israeli paid censorship of hashtags such as #SaveSheikhJarrah & #FreePalestine.
The Israeli MFA is investing millions of dollars to attack, blackmail, and censor celebrities and official bodies that support Palestine, pushing further the instrumentalization of antisemitism to counter the criticism of Israel, and Palestinian liberation. These tactics are both harmful to Palestinians and Jewish communities actually facing antisemitism, colonial, imperial, and racist oppression.
Palestinians in 48 (Israel- Occupied Palestine) are facing colonial oppression on multiple levels; Israeli Police are violently arresting online and offline activists for engaging in peaceful protests and for advocating for Palestinian liberation, Israeli's are firing Palestinian workers and company employees, while also boycotting Palestinian local products, and physical assaults in the streets are still very much a thing.
In Jaffa, there are approximately 300 forced expulsion orders for Palestinian houses, by the state-owned colonial real estate company ' Amidar '. An estimation of 20,000 Palestinians are now living under the threat of being homeless. This is just a continuation of what Israel and its neo-liberal colonial companies have been doing to Palestinians in 48 ' lands.
Since May 10th, more than 25 Palestinians were killed by the IOF (Israeli Occupation Forces) in protests in the West Bank. Since the "ceasefire" Israel invaded al Aqsa, detained 500+ Palestinians, surrounded Silwan & Sheikh Jarrah, demonized the entirety of Palestinian society in Israeli and right-wing (but not only) international media, protected armed Israeli civilians in assaulting Palestinians, and let Israeli civilians/soldiers/police officers who shot Palestinians dead, walk free.
Don't Stop Talking About Palestine.
Save Sheikh Jarrah.
Save Silwan.
Save Jaffa.
Free Palestine.

Please keep in mind that PCOS is a metabolic disease and therefore people with PCOS may experience worse outcomes than the general population if they catch COVID-19. If you have PCOS please consider taking the precautions recommended to other high-risk groups. source
I'm 17 and also have pcos. What are your tips and recommendations for dealing with it? Especially with weight loss
ok well i will just start by saying that all of this is very googleable and ive been doing my own research over the past few weeks but i havent really started putting together my diet plan until today, so im not basing this off of my own personal success but on what ive read. i recommend you do your own research as well but ill condense mine as best i can!
limit intake of grains/gluten and processed carbohydrates. this is my main focus rn bc its a very difficult thing for me to do, but its basically the first point listed in any PCOS diet plan. limit things like bread, bagels, chips, crackers, pasta, etc. that are high in gluten and processed grains. if you have trouble cutting out grains completely, stick to whole grains like brown rice or quinoa.
limit intake of processed sugars. obvious one but processed foods take more insulin to break down, especially processed sugars. avoid candy, cookies, baked goods, etc. but do eat dark chocolate if you want something sweet!
limit intake of dairy. this is hard to do obviously and not high on my list of priorities, but apparently dairy can cause the creation of more insulin which is exactly what PCOS diets are trying to avoid.
eat more above-ground vegetables and dark fruits. above-ground veggies just means avoiding root veggies like potatoes and yams—which goes hand in hand with the avoiding carbs thing. dark fruits like blueberries, blackberries, and dark cherries are good. other fruits are good, but try not to overeat fruit because it does have a lot of sugar (albeit good sugar) which can increase insulin production.
limit consumption of red and processed meats. stick to lean protein like cold-water fish (salmon for example), turkey, eggs, and chicken.
stick to good fats. nuts, olive oil, avocados, and other foods that are high in good fats are beneficial to any diet and can help fill the spaces that carbs leave in your stomach!
eat things you like! if you eat things you enjoy you’re more likely to stick to this lifestyle, so stick to things that you like that fit into this plan. for me it’s things like salads, watermelon, and almonds—foods ive always loved but also happen to fit into this diet. find what works for you and it’ll be a lot easier to stick to your plan!
exercise and live an active life as much as you can. like with normal people, doctors recommend that people with PCOS lead a healthy and active lifestyle. doctors recommend 30 mins to 1 hour of exercise per day. diet is the main thing for managing PCOS, but exercise can help a lot with the weight loss aspect if you pair it with eating well.
anyway this got kind of long but i tried to put in everything ive read. you can also check out this site which is all about managing PCOS with your diet!! good luck and i hope this helped you!
🎵 I wanna protect you so that you never die 🎵 Episode 3 has left me emotionally distraught.
It’s been a long time since I made one of these. I was asked to make this recommendation a while back and as always, I have been slacking. Mian haeyo :(
In in the world of Korean dramas is there anything our male lead oppas can’t do?? They can jump from one building to another, they can be unrealistically rich CEOs, they can fight 25 people at once (and win), they can sing, they can dance, they can see future, they hear your thoughts, they can go back in time, they are crazzzy smart and the list goes on…but they are also big dum-dums when it comes to love.
This is the recommendation of Kdramas in which male leads don’t even realise that they are in love.
All of these dramas are really amazing in my very biased opinion and you should definitely watch them if you haven’t already.
Brace yourself for a fluff fest!
🌸 Touch your heart: Famous (really cute) actress ends up working as the secretary of a (serious) lawyer to gain experience for her next role.
Dong Wook’s character is probably the most adorable idiot in this list. He is crazy smart when it comes to law, and equally thick when it comes to sarcasm and women’s heart.
Watch this to add 10 years to your life.
🌸 Weightlifting fairy Kim Bok Joo: Story of a female weightlifter full of swag and a male swimmer who can’t pronounce swaaeeeg.
This is friends to lover trope at the most realistic form a Kdrama could be. This drama is the campus life fluff we all need.
🌸 She was pretty: They were childhood friends - she was a pretty girl and he was a fat kid who got bullied a lot. They meet again years later and now, he is her hot boss and she is not pretty anymore. So she lies about her identity and he doesn’t recognise her.
As controversial as this trope is. The story is surprisingly not. The drama has no bad characters and reminds me so much of Ugly Betty as it’s based in a magazine world. It has one of the best female friendship and a very serious second lead syndrome. The female mc is so refreshing played by Hwang Jung-eum.
Honestly, if this doesn’t convince you…watch it for Choi Siwon and Park Seo Joon.
🌸 What’s wrong with secretary Kim: Narcissistic boss can’t live without his secretary.
This is basically it. You don’t want to miss this one.
🌸 Clean with passion for now: Man who has a fear of germs and woman who doesn’t care about cleanliness.
The guy’s fear of germs is another level where he can’t even let anyone touch him let alone think about a relationship. This is a very adorable drama with very cute leads.
🌸 My love from the star: He is an alien who can’t wait to go back to his planet, she is a famous actress who lives next door.
This is a gem that people forgot about and I want everyone to talk about this more often. Kim Soo Hyun and Jeon Ji Hyeon are in it. The plot is good, the chemistry is amazing, their love story is what I love the most about kdramas.
Watch this even if you have seen it all those years ago cause it is still a classic.
🌸 Because this is my first life: He owns a home, she doesn’t.
Honestly, this drama is a masterpiece. It is very entertaining, very simple and very lovely. Watch this… It will water your crops, clear your skin and make you crave for more.
🌸 Oh my ghostess: A shy woman is possessed by a thirsty virgin ghost.
This is horror (very light), comedy, romance. Park Bo Young is just so cute. The entire plot is ridiculous but highly entertaining. It’s a kitchen romance so keep food ready before hitting the play button.
🌸 Suspicious Partner: A trainee prosecutor becomes a murder suspect.
This is a crime, law, romance drama. My love Ji Chang Wook is in it. His character is a strict guy who doesn’t want to fall in love and the female lead (Nam Ji Hyun) understandably falls for him…all this but with murder and other crimes.
🍿🍿🍿
Alright. That’s it, folks! I can probably add so much more here but that’s it for now. See you again next time. Hit me up if you need recommendations or talk about dramas in general.
P.S. Check my blog for more kdrama recs, this hell-site won’t let me link them here.
Beta males are my main character trope of choice: A soft boy who lets the woman take charge or who defers to her. He is dedicated, doesn’t play mind games and doesn’t worry about taking on traditionally masculine roles. He puts the leading lady’s needs first, remains loyal and kind, and allows the woman’s personality to shine. Sounds perfect right?
Because This Is My First Life
Nam See is an introverted and thoughtful beta male with a fondness for his kitty (bonus!). He’s smart and capable but also honors his contract marriage with Ji Ho, and treats her with an overwhelming amount of respect. He is the first character I’ve seen in a drama that truly understands consent. When this show aired, everyone was smitten with Nam See because he was the “perfect boyfriend material.” As a side note ironically, Lee Min Ki (the actor who played the perfect Nam See) had his own personal scandal which seems the total opposite of his character and I’d feel weird not mentioning it.
Healer Swoon-worthy Park Bong Soo is not only a super capable action superhero behind the scenes, but has total puppy eyes for Chae Young Shin. This couple makes the show one of my favorites even if the plot isn’t 100%.
Ho Goo’s Love / Fool’s Love
Ho Goo is in my opinion the poster child of the soft male lead and Fool’s love is one of my top five favorite dramas (it covers sexual abuse and has a gay storyline - I know, shocking for a k-drama). When people ask me for examples of non-problematic boyfriends, this show comes to mind first. Ho Goo is quiet, really sensitive, caring and puts everyone before himself. He’s a bit naive to the world’s workings, but when he falls for a medal winning athlete with a troubled past and an unwanted pregnancy, he’s willing to drop everything to be with her. It’s one of the best dramas I’ve seen though it does have a small bit of slapstick.
Flower Boy Next Door
Enrique Geum is a creative and kooky character who falls for an introvert. He’s soooo goofy and adorable, it’s almost like watching a cartoon character interact with real live people (plus he cuddles with puppies and look at his panda hat!). He sets his sites on an introvert and works hard to build a friendship (and romance). The show is a bit trying at times due to the annoying SLS and what I like to call “k-drama nonsense” but he’s so soft!
The Happy Loner/ Individualist Ms. Ji Young
This mini drama features a puppy-like boy trying to befriend a “cold” female. He is persistent in winning her over but not overbearing by any means. I had a couple of issues with this show but overall it’s one of the better mini dramas I’ve seen.
Reunited Worlds
Hae Sung, a senior in high school dies and through k-drama magic, travels twelve years into the future to solve the mystery of his death. He reunites with his high school sweetheart (a now 31 year old woman) and the two fall back in love. He’s really smitten with her regardless of her age, and works hard to make her feel comfortable with their age difference. He’s a lovely friend with a pure heart and is completely adorable. The SLS is also incredibly beta (though not a very charismatic role - people complained about his acting skills). I don’t know a lot of people who liked this show as much as I did, but Yeo Jin Goo melted my heart and I felt all of the feels (plus I love the fated lovers and time travel tropes).
Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo
Joon-Hyung is a sweet and doting beta male who falls for Bok-Joo really hard, like puppy dog hard. He loves her for the tom-boy she is and respects her athletic prowess. These two are adorable together and there are TONS of cute scenes with them on dates and cuddling, though his immaturity/nick names for her annoyed me sometimes (maybe I’m sensitive).
The Package
This show aired without much notice but I happened to really enjoy it. The lead had a sweet and open personality and I just honestly loved that about him. When the couple argued they actually used their communication skills! If you’re looking for a quiet slice-of-life drama that’s a little different, check it out. You can read my review here if you’re curious.
Fight For My Way/ Fight My Way
Fight my way is one of my top three favorites shows. It has an amazing strong female lead (like, really strong but also realistic) and uses the friends to lovers trope really well. It also has a solid group of friends who are regular people struggling to make a living - what can I say, I love it! Dong Man isn’t a truly beta male because he doesn’t become super soft until he realizes he is falling for his best friend. However once that happens, he’s all about Choi Ae Ra and in total support of everything she does (and he should be because she’s amazing). Plus if you look at the flashbacks, he’s really a beta male in training so… As a side note there is one single scene where he says something I don’t like, but I won’t say anything and you probably won’t notice because of the chemistry.
Just Between Lovers
I debated putting this show in my beta males post because both leads are dealing with trauma, PTSD and mental illness, so Kang Doo has some violent tendencies and anger issues which made me hesitate. But make no mistake, he is in love with Moon Soo from the very beginning and lives for her. He cares deeply and gives 100%. He goes out of his way to keep her safe and tell her she’s loved. Plus she’s someone I think of as a strong female character but is strong in a quiet way which I love. So since there is the strong female/mostly soft male it deserves a mention.
Also if you want a few more beta male dramas, @overthinkingkdrama has a great list with more soft leads here.

I'm in the mood for a college kdrama cause I'm low key too old to connect to high school stories anymore but I still want the whole school atmosphere. Do you have any recommendations?
I totally feel you about wanting the atmosphere of a group of kids learning together but being too old or jaded for high school stories! I totally have a list of kdramas, cdramas, and jdramas where the characters are college aged though of course there’s a mixed level of actual college plot-lines!
Age Of Youth/Hello My Twenties: This kdrama is basically the quintessential college drama out there. It’s got everything you could want from a group of girls living in the same dorm to the way each girl learns to grow up and discover who they are and what love is! The romances take a bit of a backseat because the friendships between the girls is at the forefront of this show and it’s such a highlight!
Bring It On, Ghost: Technically this kdrama is set around a college-aged male lead but honestly college is an pretty much an afterthought in this drama since most of it follows the antics of ghost-catching and the supernatural but I thought why not throw it onto the list anyway. There are some college friends and some college campus shenanigans though if that helps!
Cheese In The Trap: This kdrama is another really great one which actually uses college as an important setting. We actually see our leads go to class and take exams and worry about their futures while also looking for love. One of the highlights of this show is the group of students that are all in the same major that we see over and over so we get to know them. I’m a fan of the main romance (tbh hated the second male lead) but a lot of people don’t like it so keep that in mind if you check this one out!
Do You Like Brahms?: This kdrama is set in college but like a few other musical college dramas on this show, it focuses more on the music side than the college side though there is a lot of screen time given to the characters worrying about their futures after college which is something that’s super important for people in their 20s. There are of course music professors, department chatrooms, and lots of gossiping about campus couples so if you’re interested in any of that, I’d definitely check it out!
Good Morning Call: Campus Days: It’s been a while since I’ve seen this jdrama so a part of me worries that I’m not remembering it correctly but I do think this show had a pretty solid take on the college experience. There are plenty of moments where students go to class and meet up with each other and go on trips. Of course this one is a sequel to Good Morning Call which takes place in high school so you do probs want to check out the prequel before this one.
Heartstrings: Though this kdrama is set on a college campus, the fact that all of our students live at home kind of takes away from the whole college atmosphere of this drama. The kids never actually go to class and the only real time we see them on campus is for the musical so though we’ve got professors and everything, this drama doesn’t feel much different than a high school one especially with how the characters are treated by their parents. Having said that I do love the way music plays such a big role in the lives of our characters and I adore the main romance so I had to shout it out.
Hello Debate Opponent: This cdrama is another with a great college setting though the drama itself wasn’t one of my favorites. It follows a group of college students from the Literature Department who join the debate team and battle against other debate teams in the college. We see the kids find love for the first time, struggle with what to do after college, and there’s plenty of dorm shenanigans to be had!
Love O2O: Though I’d consider this cdrama more of a gaming show than a college one, our characters do spend a large chunk of the show living on a college campus so I think it counts! There is plenty of fun college moments to be had from dorm rooms to campus sports and the fun that comes from being a campus couple! This one has a soft spot in my heart cause I adore the romance between our leads even if the kissing is cringe-y!
Meteor Garden: I actually really adore this cdrama cause it’s an adaptation of the Hana Yori Dango/Boys Over Flower story but set in the college years which makes a lot of the crazy scenarios feel a little more realistic. There’s classes and exams and bar life and everything you’d want from a show set during college but whether you like this drama or not is dependent on whether you like the original story. I do think one of the highlights of this version is the fact that the secondary couple actually gets together in this unlike in Boys Over Flower where it’s mostly just hinted at.
Moorim School: Because this kdrama is set in a martial arts college it might kind of take away from the whole college experience you’d want in a drama because though the main characters do go to class and have exams and everything, they’re all martial arts themed so that might not be something you’re into. I personally had a blast with this drama and I loved the main romance as well as the bromance in this show and there’s plenty of fun dorm stuff in this show too!
My ID Is Gangnam Beauty: This kdrama is the absolutely perfect example of a drama set in college cause it gives you a perfect view of what college is like from the students you meet and the friends you make to the classes you have. The atmosphere of this show is incredibly realistic and the show touches on sensitive topics like bullying and body positivity and sexism while also delivering a swoon-worthy male lead!
My Little Princess: Like Heartstrings this cdrama is another one set in a college but really can’t be distinguished from a high school cause most of our characters live at home rather than in dorms but I always feel like this show is too underrated despite how cute it is so I wanted to shout it out! I think it’s unique cause the female lead begins the show feeling more like a second female lead than the lead with her spoiled/rich/thoughtless personality but the male lead helps her learn what’s right and wrong while also being so devoted to her!
My Mr Mermaid: You may know by now that this cdrama is my absolute favorite cdrama out there and so the fact that it can be added to this list is everything. The setting of this show is on a college campus (at which almost all the characters live except our female lead and second male lead who have jobs) so there are fun dorm shenanigans and there are some plots about failing classes and needing tutors but I’d describe this show more as a sporty romance. Our male lead is a swimmer on his college’s swim team and he falls in love with our female lead who’s a sports reporter.
Sweet Combat: Ironically I seem to have a ton of sports dramas set in college on this list but I promise it’s not on purpose cause it just so happens that dramas like to focus on sports and college at the same time! This cdrama is set at a sports college but our main leads are boxers and like many of the other dramas on this list, all the characters live off-campus but there are plenty of college competitions and campus fun to be had. The romance is super cute and I love that the male lead is so soft for the female lead!
Symphony’s Romance: This cdrama is actually a remake of a jdrama which was remade into a kdrama and honestly it’s the one and only time I’ve seen this version of the story so far! Though I can’t comment on which version is the best to watch, this drama was a lot of fun in my opinion. It follows a bunch of college students who study at a prestigious school for music and unlike something like Heartstrings, our kids mostly either live on campus or spend all their time on campus so it feels more like college than high school. There’s studying abroad and panic about graduating and plenty of fun to be had!
The Great Seducer/Tempted: This kdrama is another one that though our characters are college-aged, college really doesn’t play a big role in this drama especially since our male lead doesn’t go to college. The show follows a trio of rich kids who decide that the male lead needs to seduce the female lead for reasons only for the two to fall in love. There’s something so fun about this show and the production is top-notch despite the fact that the writing is low key all over the place so I thought I would recommend it anyway!
Thumping Spike 2: Though this kdrama is more of a miniseries than a full drama, it follows a pro-volleyball player who decides to give up volleyball and go to college only to end up joining the college’s volleyball team and falling in love with a classmate so I think it’s worth a watch! It’s super super cute and we spend a ton of time on the campus going to class and participating in college competitions!
Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo: Despite not being my favorite kdrama, it definitely deserves to be on this list because it’s one of the better college dramas out there and I know it’s a favorite for a lot of people! Following a tough female weightlifter and a soft male swimmer at a sports college, we get to watch them fall in love and struggle with lying and anxiety and abandonment issues and body positivity! There’s so many fun dorm moments and campus coupling and the cast of friends is everything!

Free Palestine🇵🇸✌️
Don’t let the ignorance and censorship of the media allow you to turn a blind eye on what is happening to Palestinians.
And for the love of literally anything, do not even dare saying "oh there's always two sides to a story, the Israelis probably had a reas-".
No. They do not have a reason to do such atrocities, nor does the IDF have a shred of humanity within it.
A literal 16 year old boy was killed a while back.
Masjid-al-Aqsa, one of the holiest Muslim sites was attacked and more than 163 people have been injured.
Palestinians are forcibly being removed by the IDF from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah, a neighbourhood in Eastern Jerusalem, and giving them to Jewish settlers.
This is not only supported by the government, but was ordered by it in accordance to a law claiming that these houses belong to Jews and they have a right to them. Once these Palestinian families are removed from their houses, they will become homeless.
Is there any reason behind this ethnic cleansing? The boy was Muslim? People in the Mosque were praying on the last Friday of Ramadan, a day of great esteem? Palestinians are just living in their homes after being forced out of their previous homeland?
If these are your reasons to defend Israel in its atrocities, you're welcome to escort yourself from my blog, and from the face of this Earth. Oh, and next time you're mentioning Muslims being terrorists, keep this in mind, will you?
The fact that this level of atrocity is even up for debate in 2021 is heinous and absolutely disgusting.
The Israeli Vice-Mayor of Jerusalem, who was also a part of the “Death to Arabs” march that happened earlier this month, hasn’t only made fun of a Palestinian civilian limping after being shoot by an Israeli solider and telling him that it was a pity that he he didn’t get shot in the head (and he of course said that in public infront of multiple cameras, because he knows that there will be no repercussion when it comes to harming/humiliating Palestinians) but he has also tweeted a picture of a dead Palestinian teenager on the ground with the caption “that’s how I like to see them.”
I’m not going to post the tweet because it’s hard to look at, but it’s here if you want to see it. The tweet has been up for an entire day so far without being deleted, despite it violating most Twitter’s rules, meanwhile thousands of people across all social media are getting their accounts and posts deleted or hidden in just a few minutes after posting anything remotely related to the violence Palestinians are facing in Shiekh Jarrah right now.
This isn’t a conflict between two groups, this is a one-sided occupation, modern-colonialism and state-sponsored terrorism.
thinking about sheikh jarrah makes me feel so sick. the palestinians living there are refugees / descendants of refugees from the expulsion of their homeland by israeli militia during nakba (the destruction of the palestinian homeland in 1948). these people were already forced from their homeland. now they are being forced from the place where they fled to with nowhere to go. taking this neighbourhood and their livelihoods from them is nothing but pure unadulterated cruelty
As of today (May 6th) Israeli settlers are violently displacing Palestinians of Sheikh Jarrah (in Eastern Jerusalem) and ripping them out of their own homes. Settlers are violently physically assaulting Palestinians and are backed by the military. This forced eviction is illegal under international law.
Here is a twitter thread of charities to donate to help Palestinians.
Here is a linktree with resources of how to contact representatives (specifically for USA, Canadian, and UK citizens) and several petitions calling to an end to violence in Palestine, as well as more donation links.
Please keep your eye on Sheikh Jarrah and Palestine and don’t remain silent.

Junior year is known to be the most important, challenging year of high school.
But that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun! You can no doubt handle it all in stride with a little organization and planning. Let’s take just a few minutes right now to smooth the road ahead with some guidelines that will help make your junior year a success.
I’m sure you’ve heard this more times than you ever wanted to, but with so much going on junior year, it’s worth continually checking that academic performance is staying a top priority. Your GPA is, after all, usually the largest factor in admissions decisions.
It is also a good idea to review your classes for next semester with a counselor to ensure you are meeting college admissions requirements while challenging yourself with the most rigorous classes you can reasonably handle. Colleges do look at your senior year class schedule too, so continue to be just as academically driven all the way to the finish line, senioritis and all.
Next on the priority list is test score optimization. Even if you took the PSAT your sophomore year, take it again this year—this test can not only qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship program but also give you good practice for the SAT. If you haven’t done so already, figure out which dates you’ll want to take the actual SAT or ACT as well as SAT Subject Tests, and then devise a study plan to get you to your peak scores.
With so many colleges to choose from, where do you start? First, consider your general preferences. Would you feel better at a large or small school? In a city, suburban, or rural setting? On the west coast, east coast, Hawaii, another country? Are there any specific academic programs or extracurricular offerings that are important to you?
You can explore college websites or college search sites like the College Board’s Big Future to find your personal college matches. Then plan campus visits to confirm which aspects in a college you get most excited about and which aspects you don’t care for. To get a feel for the campus culture, try walking around solo and/or take a guided tour. See if you can talk to any students or administrators to gather more up-to-date, inside information about the school.
Since colleges tend to want dedicated, passionate students populating their campuses, they’re drawn to students who commit a significant amount of time to a few meaningful extracurricular activities. This dedication shows that students are pursuing a genuine interest and are willing to explore their potential in specific areas of expertise (which is generally more useful to the world than passively attending a bunch of different activities). Focus on one or two of your strongest interests and see how you can develop them further (be creative!).
The earlier you start looking for scholarships, the better chance you’ll have at getting more free money! Some scholarships are need-based (they depend on family income levels) and others are merit-based (they’re based on your academic or other achievements). Check fastweb.com for a current list of scholarships, and ask your counselor and perhaps your parents’ workplaces for other possible free-funds opportunities.
Check the websites of the colleges you are interested in to see if they require teacher and/or counselor recommendation letters. If so, you will want to plan ahead so you can figure out which teachers know you best and then give them ample time to write you a quality letter (especially before they’re barraged with requests from tons of other students).
Taking advantage of summertime to get a job or internship or participate in an academic summer program will help you further explore your interests while boosting your college application. Do an online search or ask your counselor for resources and see what really piques your interest.
You can also take this time to begin drafting your college application essays. Starting on these early will reduce stress and give you more time to reflect on yourself and your life to produce strong responses.
The more you’re out there exploring, enjoying, and learning, the better prepared you will be for the coming years.
So go ahead and write down your plans and to-dos now, and you’ll have yourself a valuable key to less stress and more success. And, as always, don’t overlook or underestimate the power you have to include some enjoyment in it all!

Last time I asked for recs but I missed out on more recent movies so here’s a list of animated movies you might have missed out on… Part 2! :) (as per last time; This post will have multiple links (to the trailers of the movies) so tumblr might try to “shadowban” it, please reblog or save somewhere else if you want to keep it.)
In 1882, a young Russian aristocrat goes on an epic adventure to find out what happened to her grandfather and save her family’s reputation. This french animation have slipped under the radar for a lot of people, which is unfortunate because compared to a lot of the “simpler” stories in animations made for children as target audience, it’s this movies strong point.
A thousand years ago, one boy with a dream of becoming a great warrior is abducted with his sister and taken to a land far away from home. Thrown into a world where greed and injustice rule all, Bilal finds the courage to raise his voice and make a change. This movie is made in the United Arab Emirates about Bilal ibn Rabah’s start in life.
A bold ten-year-old Sudanese boy befriends a young giraffe and a kind Bedouin, who takes them on a splendid journey via a hot-air balloon as far as the palace of King Charles X of France. The style in this movie is so gorgeous, much like classic western animation! French-Belgian movie.
Princes who have been turned into green Dwarfs seek the kiss of the most beautiful girl in order to break the spell. At the same time, a princess is looking for her lost father. A fairy tale-parody with a twist. This korean movie caught a lot of unwarranted slack before being released due to a very gross ad. The ending credits are especially very cute.
The story centers on domestic house cat Francis and the grisly feline murders taking place in his new neighborhood. I would recommended people to watch this movie based on style and animation alone, but there’s a lot of… adult themes including gore and sex. Very strange in a who-the-fuck-is-this-movie-marketed-for??-way but aesthetically pleasing. Made in Germany.
Fei-Fei’s mother dies when she’s young and when she notices her father moving on, she takes comfort in a mythological story her mother used to tell her. Made by legendary animator Glenn Keane that worked on all your favourite Disney-movies.
A man with Alzheimer struggle to adjust to life in an elderly care facility. There he makes new friends and reflect on the disease. There some really strong themes of love and friendship. Watching it, I felt it was actually really refreshing seeing an animated movie with main characters (and issues) that are not just teens! Quite a bittersweet watch. Some of the scenography is also really gorgeous. Made in Spain.
Lupin III (known character from several anime series and movies) goes on a grand adventure to uncover the secrets of the Bresson Diary, which is tied to the legacy of his famous grandfather. Sort of a really strange story at times but wonderful animation and a playfulness that reminds me of those cartoons you used to watch as a kid!
Some of my favourites are:- (all are translated)
Sit at my grave with wine and a minstrel in a trance, so your smell will raise me from the dead.
HAFEZ
My lover’s sadness lit a fire in my heart that burned my chest, there was a fire in his house that burned the nest.
HAFEZ
O the day turned night, what a shame, a gazelle of kindness a lion became, my partner and lover grew tired of my words and prayers too.
RUMI
These are my personal favourites. I can always make a longer post if you all want.
