Saw ur recent post, and I love your art eden!!!!! The way you color is absolutely beautiful and everytime is see it I'm like, oh wow,, and I stare in awe for a hot second. It's simultaneously so bright and warm, but it looks so good and comforting. And your lines are so fluid and dynamic, everything is so soft and nice!!! But, see? That’s what I’m talking about! Now that you told me how you feel about me & my art, I know that someone out there cares about my work and it makes them happy (somehow) when I post online. THAT’S why you should appreciate your favourite artist out loud. Many Artists are scared to ask for moral boost & such because they think either their work is not worthy enough for people’s love, or can’t get over the thought of “doing it for yourself, not for them”.

So, the thing is that, you simply can’t do art for others. Art is a passion. A hobby, it’s something you enjoy doing regularly. If you weren’t doing it for yourself, you wouldn’t be able to keep it up, because you wouldn’t feel a single happiness in it anymore, since you can’t force it like chores or homeworks. But I think the reason of why people feel this way might be because of some people claiming artists are all “attention seekers” if they share their art with others. So just to clarify it for everyone:

Art does NOT create itself with zero time and effort. People spend years on trying to improve their skills, while drawing non-stop in the process. Many amazing artworks out there you see and skip in 10 seconds take Artists hours, days, hell, even months to complete, depending on the piece. So of course if an Artist asks for comments, they have EVERY SINGLE RIGHT to do so. In fact, artists share their ideas, opinions & creativity in their art so of course they wonder others opinions about their pieces.

Social media is a little cruel at this point, seeing your piece which you worked on for three days straight get 10+ likes to no reblogs can make you feel upset, or even feel like you just wasted your time over it. It’s absolutely okay to feel this way, you know. But don’t beat yourself up over it. Like I said before, notes does not determine your content quality. You’re just “not recognized” by the big community yet. The most important thing is to enjoy your art first, THEN other stuff. (And talking about recognization… Artists who make art for both enjoyment AND work are in a greater need for recognization. Since their work depends on it, if they are a freelancer and does not work with a big company, that is.)

I don’t think it’s too much to ask for a little appreciation for something we put our hearts in. Oh, but if you try to tell me that you’re not “obligated” to like an Artist’s work, then it’s true. You don’t have to like anyone’s work. Not everyone shares the same interests with others, anyway. But please let me ask you one thing; Why in the hell are you even here if you’re not “obligated” to like this Artist’s work?

Again, no pressure. But please, if you truly like an Artist’s work, show them that you like their work, and SHARE it if you can. Trust me, it’ll make them happy.

26-year-old Jamarion Robinson’s grandmother Beverly Nixon said her grandson was bipolar and schizophrenic. Still got shot 76 (!!!) times. Would a white person get the same treatment?

The witness said he saw more than a dozen patrol cars at the complex where US Marshals killed Robinson on August 5, 2016. Why were there no behavioral specialist? Surely one of them would know how to interact with a bipolar schizophrenic better than the police.
