Hello all. You may call me Shai; I am 24, use he/him pronouns, and am aromantic and asexual.

I've been identifying with the kin community for roughly two years now, and have designated this blog as a space for me to explore my thoughts and feelings a bit more fully, in a judgment-free space. This blog is also where I'll collect imagery and posts that I identify with. I may occasionally post my own art as well. Some other things you may like to know about me include:

✨️ Psychological and spiritual kin - my identity as fictionkin developed as a method of processing grief and trauma, but I have leaned into the spiritual aspect as well as I find it comforting.

✨️ I am being led to believe that my kin identity is also a result of dissociation, specifically that my kintype constitutes a dissociative fragment.

✨️ Only one kin - Sh.aiapouf from H.unter x Hu.nter.

✨️ Chronically ill - I have Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and, interestingly enough, I use it to connect with my kintype. This condition is genetic and affects all systems in my body, so this is something I will continually discuss here.

While I am a bit more quiet on this blog, I am online quite frequently and am open for any type of conversation or discussion; in spite of the formality, I swear I'm friendly 💖

30 Day Fictionkind Challenge

Day 2: Do you experience dysphoria? How so?

I experience it from several angles, gender of course being a factor for me. I don't typically experience a lot of kin dysphoria, I actually notice more experiences with euphoria. Shoes that add to my height, clothing that drapes over my shoulders or trails down my back, wearing my antennae out in public. Clothing as well - though I can't rule out the gender euphoria aspect, especially here, I find joy in more formal clothing, collared shirts and high-waisted pants.

Very rarely, I've experienced something akin to phantom limbs, feeling exact spots on my back where my wings would have been. It isn't often, but it's at least memorable.

The line being blurred

We all know that one line between humanity and our kintypes, but sometimes it's just non-existent. I am my kintype AND my human self at once but I'm currently not either one, you know what I mean? Like I'm not in a shift, but I'm also not out of a shift? This is definitely relevant with my void kintype, where I'm sorta just partly the void, and partly human. Like I still have those feelings of the void, the relations with the void, but I also have every other feeling, emotion, and sense of a human. Another example is even with my normal, snow leopard theriotype, I just sometimes get animalistic but still am clearly human in both my mind and to everyone else. By animalistic I mean so much more instinctive and have more of the senses of my kintype. These can count as shifts, I just think to me they're slightly different experiences because I experience more extreme, actual shifts.

Aside from my own? Unfortunately, I don't have one. I'm fairly new to the community on an overall level and haven't found many others.

Day 11: Have you ever met other fictionkin? In real life or online?

I have spoken well with at least one other person who openly experiences kin the way I do, but haven't had more interaction than that. I would love to meet someone who is fictionkin in real life, just to have that bonding moment.

I have, however, seen a few other blogs made by those who also kin this character. None appear to be active, and I'm not sure if I could even find them again at this rate, but I do strongly recall them for the impact they left on me. I was at least a little embarrassed by who I'd found myself feeling drawn towards, and seeing others interacting with that same draw made me feel at least a bit more at ease.

I would love to be able to meet more.

Playlist Challenge!

I see a lot of “kin playlists” on the “fluffy” side of otherkin tumblr, so I decided to put more thought into a “playlist challenge”! I find it hard to believe that a stranger can “assign” someone a playlist for their personal canon, so why not do it yourself instead?

This is, of course, geared towards fictionkin. However, copinglinkers and otherhearted can also participate!

Despite the tag “ask meme”, this is meant to be one playlist, not a bunch of asks asdfghjk. Though it can be done that way!!

5. A song that reflects a significant event in their life, bad or good.

9. A song that reminds you of your kintype’s past.

10. If there are any, a song canonically related to your kintype, either in the source’s official soundtrack (if there is one) or just a song that the canon source’s creator associates them with.

11. A song that is commonly associated with them that, while not your personal choice, you can still enjoy.

Something I'm thinking about that I feel is greatly appealing to me most is the idea of "one soul, multiple iterations". Cut from the same cloth and passed forward.

I've elaborated more in my personal writings I may post here as well, but today is my kintype's birthday. I've been thinking a lot about us, how we blur the lines between what is and isn't real, and I feel so much pride and love. I love being his second chance, I love experiencing the world anew.
