ok so even in canon we see takeda ogle ukai whenever he’s coaching karasuno and is super impressed with how much he knows about volleyball and his passion and how he inspires and guides his team and do better right. So what I think we as a country need to see is ukai having free time or something and deciding to go sit in one of takeda’s classes. What he doesn’t expect is to get absolutely blown away by how smart the guy is when it comes to his subject matter. Japanese literature is *his* thing, and he’s gonna explain it to his students with such rigor and understanding that it’s ukai’s turn to be floored and to ogle at his colleague.
Disco Elysium’s “lungs are for love” really stuck with me. As a singer I’m aware of my lungs all the time, and now they are a subconscious way we can take in the world. They expand, and fill with the particles of whatever city we inhabit. Everyone’s lungs and their insides look a little different. Harry and Kim’s could be stunted due to their smoking, I think this could be connected to their stunted capacity for love, and how painful it is for the both of them to not only love themselves and other people, but the world around them. Lungs fill up and breath love into ourselves and the world around us. If you are a smoker and had polio, could you not take in enough love?

Thinking about two gay characters in Disco Elysium again…while smoker is underground as a part of the homosexual underground, which if that isn’t something Harry made up and is an actual term, then yes they have to be underground to enjoy life to its fullest. Ruby is underground as a fugitive, literally underneath the Feld building, but also the homosexual underground. Ruby’s lesbianism and current predicament are so intertwined to me. Like of course everyone in Martinaise wants to pin the murder on the predatory butch. The mean nasty dyke has to fend for herself, foraging scraps to make machines and smoke cigarettes. Smoker and ruby are at two ends of a distinct neural and physical pathway carved out by identity and ideology that have surely crossed by now. Klaasje even smokes on a balcony. But smoker eventually stays. Ruby and Klaasje don’t. Regardless they are all underground in more ways than one.
So I love everything that Shivers says, especially in her higher voice, and I cannot stop thinking about when she says “the bottom of my air is red”. What does this mean? If you look at an empty Pilsner bottle, the bottom of it looks link of red. The bottom of fire is red, so is the bottom of feet when they’re cold. The bottom of our noses gets red when we’re flushed. Sometimes beneath the ground and snow there’s red rocks that look like chalk. And she breaths the city. At the bottom of her air, her lungs, rests the diaphragm, and that’s red. The core of the entire earth is probably red. Red is the color of passion, of heat. So if hot air rises, why is the bottom her air red?

good afternoon I have two (three if you check tags) insane disco elysium rarepairs that don’t make sense at all with no information than these two screenshots for your consideration.
I can’t believe I’m playing Disco Elysium and sometimes get really good thoughts about it and then post them and word them well and they get a ton of notes and resonate with people and I’m glad I can take a game or piece of media I like and make beautiful poetry and analysis of it.
And then other times I think to myself: “wow. there is a kind of eroticism about the feld building.”
They were sent to the same place because of an “interdistrict dispute over who’s jurisdiction martinaise belongs to” orrr you could be like me and think that the dispute is a metaphor for how this case needs logic and absurdism to be solved. It needs both, not just “one district” (school of thought) can solve it.
Kim and Harry as a pair, not even as a ship but as a partners within in the police force works so incredibly well it’s hard to put into words. It’s the stupid left brain right brain analogy but spectated into different people. Logic needs to be accompanied by a bit of absurdist thinking and imagination in order to create new headways. Not only do they have incredibly chemistry as friends/romantic interests but literally as detectives. Like what a superstar duo that makes up what the other lacks.

The comparisons between Dolores Dei and Kim by having Kim be slightly dolorian is so intentional and driving me crazy like. Kim does not seem religious At All and doesn’t believe anything that isn’t based in reality so at first this really surprised me. Learning dolores was a real person and ruler made this understanding more clear, but what really got to me is how Kim is kind of Harry’s own personal dolores dei. Harry sees him with a halo present in religious iconography, he’s a perfect representative for the moralists and Moralintern in everything he does and stands for, likes the old RCM motto better, a shoe in for liberalism still benefiting from capitol. If Dora is also represented as Dolores, a physical manifestation of codependency, then I also believe that this applies to Kim. Harry sees those important to him, those he relies on. as impossibly tall and imposing, surrounded by light and beauty, while also recognizing they may also have beliefs and practices more befitting to a capitalist and internationalist delusion (thinking realistically unlike communism).
And Harry knows this. Of course about his past love, but I think this also applies to the lieutenant standing right next to him becoming more and more ecclesiastic the more time we spend in this church.
And what if all those Harry loves also had a fondness for figurines. I remember who was first yacking about francogerian knights…

just met her…obsessed with how she clocks Harry immediately and starts a cycle of “no YOU need a husband!” Right back at him. Maybe she should take him husband hunting.
The first time I got to this part it was without Kim, and found out about my motor carriage all by myself and felt bad about it, I wanted Kim to be with me for this. So I went to my previous save and did a bunch of dialogue again and avoided looking at the MC until day 4. And so I did, I sat on the swing discussing how physical phenotypes emerge while the tide itself recedes. With way more dialogue options and feedback from your partner, I started crying. Because this moment is extremely real. I have an extremely bad and dangerous habit of loosing every object that I own, or ones that I don’t. I have a good memory but will forget to take my backpack home. Stupid blips like that really make you feel useless. So to hear Harry say “first my badge, then my gun, now this, and another, worse fourth thing” made me realize why I connected with this character so much. Why I bought this game after hearing about it for months specifically after I relapsed. And before all this even happens with you, Kim whistles with you, he goes along with you through these few hours because while *you* make mountains out of molehills (a teacher used to say I did that) someone who doesn’t will be by your side, and you remember that.

Okay the people want more! Anyway I couldn’t help but notice how erotic it is when Harry’s touching the MC for the first time, specifically like the levers, it’s very reminiscent of the Gatsby Nick Elevator Shaft paragraph, perhaps a nod to his earlier disco days handling other phallic objects. Kim works on this car so much he smells of oil and transmission fluid, he’s enveloped in his scent becoming indistinguishable from it. The MC’s engine gets to be loud, waking up those in the Whirling, but the loudness is something Kim’s proud of, something that he doesn’t want to change because he can’t get loud himself, his consciousness doesn’t let him do anything but act composed at all times. And when it’s 7.2 engine revs, you know Kim’s mind goes a million miles per hour with the same velocity as his car. It’s the closest he can be to a speedfreak while not being an aerostatic pilot. When Harry did the aces low, the think the MC felt the jolt of another revolutionary.
Playing DE day 2 and getting an interfacing thought…I believe in the idea that the Coupris Kineema is an extension of Kim, or how he wants to be. Savoir Faire to the max, getting decked out, getting touched by Harry, a familiar Clutch in the way he grips it’s levers. Whatever on earth “supercharged” and “porno tuning” is. It’s Kim’s soul, and he feels when Harry taps the glass on the fuel gauge, also jumping in surprise.
