AN: holy hell itâs been like a month Iâm sorry đ
âHome late, again?â Your mother tutted. You hang your coat on the rack as you walk in the door. âOh, mom, Iâm sorry, I lost track of time again.â You chuckle to hopefully lighten her already sour mood.
âItâs always âsorryâ and yet you never do better.â Her words were like a bucket of ice over your head. âThere is a curfew you know, or do you live in a make believe world and not the glory of Seidou.â âSo what if I live in my own world sometimes,â you fall into a whisper, âIt's better than all these rules anyways.â
A muscle in your fatherâs eye twitches. âWhat did you say? How ungrateful must you be. Born into the higher society of order, yet you still run around with low-lives.â
Your heart is pounding heavily with anger. How dare they speak about your friend like that? How dare they talk to you like that? You see your parents share a stern look of implicit agreement.
âPack your bags. Youâre out of our house.â It was like they dropped a bombshell on your life.
âWHAT?! Mom? Dad? What do you mean I have to leave?â You were in tears as the news felt like a slap across the face. They might as well have slapped you with how their insistence that you leave stung.
âItâs for your own good, my dear.â Your mother spoke in a calm tone but her body language was that of disdain. Your father spoke next. âYou have been corrupted by that peasant boy. You are unruly!â He spoke about Dairou with utter hatred. No concern for life outside the rich.
You donât know what broke your heart more: the fact your parents were disowning and throwing you out of not only your home, but Orderrealm itself, or that they scorned the one and perhaps only person who ever cared about you.
âWhy do you hate him so much? What has he ever done to deserve anything heâs received?â You start the yelling match. Your parents looked upon you with disgust and repulse. Your tears freely flowed down your face, but you had to fight back against injustice.
âWhy? WHY?! That boy has utterly ruined you with his filth. You were such a good child until he spread his filth to you. The lower class is naught but the dirt we walk on, and he will always be that. FILTH!â With the pure spite pouring from her lips you knew nothing she could say would ever repair the damage done. Not that she would apologize.
Your father stepped in after the onslaught. âNo child of ours will be anything less than perfection. Why couldnât you have been friends with the other boy in your class? Hotaru exemplifies the greatness of Orderrealm! Yet you had to ruin it. With that slave in the lowest caste.â
âYou will NOT speak of him that way. I wonât let you.â You put on false bravado. You were scared. Terrified.
âThat is it, we didnât wish to have to resort to this, but you have tied our hands.â Your father turns the corner and comes back with a small sack of your belongings in tow. âLeave Seidou, and never return. You are unworthy of even calling yourself a Seidan.â
Your heart sank to your stomach. Leave Seidou forever. You canât. Your whole life was here. You would never see it again. The sunset, the surrounding hills, Dairou. You would never see Dairou again, you couldnât even tell him you were leaving. Your mind began to spiral as panic flooded your brain.
You stepped backward, unknowingly into the arms of a Seidan guard. When did they get here? Were they planning this? How long have they wished me gone? The guard roughly grabs your arm, holding his polearm in his other hand. Another guard grabs your other hand.
âWAIT! You canât do this to me!â You wailed as the guards moved you back out of the house and away from the building. âWhy are you doing this to me? Donât you love me?â You begged and pleaded for an answer to their cruelty. What angered you more was that they looked at each other with love, and you with disdain. They acted like newlyweds, waiting to start a family for the first time. Ignoring your existence.
âYou will regret this. I swear by the elder gods, you will regret this.â If they heard the venom in your tone, they ignored it. As the guards drug you toward the portal going who knows where, your tears were the only thing you felt as the rage numbed you.
The guards tossed you through the portal. Your old life was no more. With this, you passed out.
You donât know how long you were out for. All you knew was that you were in a courtyard surrounded by strange men in orange clothing. Many of them had wraps around their bodies. You were approached by a man with long, dark hair and glowing eyes. If you weren't already afraid, you were now.
The manâs gaze softened as he walked. He held his hands up in peace, meaning you no harm. âI am Lord Liu Kang.â He begins, youâre still shaken up, so he continues. âI mean you no ill will. I only wish to help. What is your name?â
You were hesitant to answer. âMy name. . . is Y/N.â
âSo we find him in Outworld and bring him here for questioning?â Kenshi asked, holding up a charcoal sketched image of the enemy at hand. You stand beside Liu Kang as he briefs you on your mission. âYes, if what I fear has happened, he is a grave threat to the realms.â
Kenshi rolls up the scroll in his hands. âAnything else?â Liu Kang looks to all of you, âShang Tsung is a master of deceit. Do not trust a word he utters.â
Johnny chimes in with a quip. âSounds a lot like my first agent.â You give him a sharp glare, âBe serious Cage.â Kenshi gives him a side-eye too. âItâs a tricky mission. Iâd rather Raiden go along than this one.â âHEY!â Johnny snaps, âThis one is up for the mission.â
You save Liu Kang his breath. âRaiden would be too recognizable in Outworld. We need the utmost discretion on this mission.â He seems unpleased but accepting of your answer. âAnd maybe Johnny can get some method acting as a spy.â
âYou just said to be serious.â âI told you to be serious.â
Liu Kang speaks once more. âShe is right. I am also breaking my word to Empress Sindel by sending you to Outworld.â
You feel the weight of how important this mission is settling into your chest. You know you can do this, Liu Kang believes in you.
You watch Liu Kang reach behind him and pull out a compass of sorts.
âThis talisman is attuned to Shang Tsungâs chi. Follow it to him,â He gives the glowing item to Kenshi. âAnd be careful. May the Elder Gods protect you.â He gives you each a look to bid farewell. However, his gaze lingers on you. Youâre not sure what his gaze means, but you hope it means well.
. . . . . . . .
âUgh, Are we there yet?â You hear Johnny complain for the hundredth time in the past hour. You roll your eyes to Kung Lao who gives you the same look back.
Kenshi groans in annoyance. âAgain? How old are you, five?â You chuckle at the mockery. âWhat can I say? These boots werenât made for walking.â âBut thatâs just what theyâll do.â You say, answering his reference.
His eyes light up. âSee? She gets the song reference.â Oh, he seems so happy. . . You have to mess with him a little.
âSong? What song?â You act curious. His face falls into confusion. âWhat? The song by Nancy Sinatra? You completed the line.â He sounds desperate for validation. âCome on Lao, no way she said that if she didnât get the reference.â Lao just glances over to his direction.
âDonât bring me into this, but if walking is the most pain you feel today, consider yourself lucky.â Johnny plasters a smirk on his face. âOh, Iâm already lucky. Iâve got Sento strapped to my back.â He seems happy when Kenshiâs agitation grows hearing him brag about the sword.
He just huffs. âI will reclaim it, Cage.â âGot three million? Itâs yours.â âYou know I donât have it.â âI bet your Yakuza pals could come up with it. Oh thatâs right, you blew them off.â You look to Cage as if to tell him stop before he regrets it. âIf thereâs one lesson Hollywoodâs taught me, itâs never burn bridges. You never know who can help.â Ohhhhhhh. Line crossed big time.
Kenshi turns around and blares his flashlight at Johnnyâs face. âThe Yakuza are leeches, bleeding out those too weak to resist,â he walks closer to the actor. âI grew up in that life and I never understood it. Why my gain required othersâ pain?â Johnny never even blinked at his words.
âI got out. I need my clan out, too,â The rage in his eyes grew. âWe canât be part of their crimes any longer.â
Kenshi never talked about his past with you, now you understand why. It was then that you heard a whirring noise come from the talisman in the swordsmanâs hand. Kenshi turns to continue walking. Kung Lao follows, flashing his light into Johnnyâs face. As you walk past you speak lowly.
âNot everything is about money or fame, Johnny. May the Elder Gods drill that lesson into your brain some day.â You hear him groan as you walk to follow your other companions.
As you follow the compass, you come across a colony of humanoid creatures. Creatures that are apparently in the midst of battle. Johnny already has his phone out, recording the fight; most likely using the footage as a reference for his next project.
âWhatâs your precious say?â Kenshi holds the talisman outward. âThat Shang Tsung is among those. . . things.â âOh, my fans are gonna go nuts cosplaying them at Cage Con.â Youâre somehow shocked. âYou have a whole convention dedicated to you?â He simplys smiles and shrugs his shoulders like itâs no big deal. âYou are the walking definition of narcissism.â He frowns, much to your amusement.
You can see one creature in particular being held by both arms and dragged out to the center of the colony. You then see a man with long dark hair with a syringe approach him from behind. Wait. He looks likeâ
âThatâs Shang Tsung.â Lao beats you to the realization. âLetâs jump him after heâs done,â Johnny suggests. âOh! In âFists of Ironâ we did this thing where likeââ He swings his fist as Kenshi interjects. âWe are not basing strategy on your movies Cage.â
The thought is interrupted as you view the scene below. The creature held captive is struggling against the guards, but he was knocked down to his knees. Shang Tsung held up the syringe to his neck, and plunged the needle in. You cringe as the captive writhes in pain.
Suddenly, the man held down broke free from his restraints. Downing the first guard, quickly felling the second, he takes the offensive against Shang Tsung. Everyone in the colony delves into battle. The creature strikes at your target. Regardless of his defensive stance, the blows he takes are harsh.
âOn second thought,â Johnny begins. âThis sceneâs playing fine without us. I say we let them finish it.â Yawning that last part, Kenshi chimes in. âWe have to save Shang Tsung. Liu Kang needs him alive.â You sigh. âAs much as I hate it, heâs right.â The four of you charge down the small cliff you were on and join the fray.
As the monster was just about to finish Shang Tsung, Kenshi jumped on his back, swinging him around. He managed to kick all three of you as you came in to help, knocking you to the ground momentarily. Winded, you stumble to your feet. As you were all distracted, the sorcerer shifts into the form of one of the creatures, quickly assimilating into the crowd. You lost him.
âWhat theââ Johnny cuts you off. âHow did he do that?â You were dumbfounded still that you had lost your target. You snapped back to attention as Kenshi began his battle with the main man; leaving you, Johnny, and Lao to fight the rest of them off.
One of the creatures charges after you. You step to the left, ducking under Lao as he punches it in the face. You sweep the next two, knocking them to the ground. You move to the group on the left while taking out Reaper, leaving Johnny and Kung Lao to take care of the group on the right.
You swing your weapon to hit the first, bringing it back to hit the second. You reel it back and hold the rope at mid range to rapidly strike your next foe. One managed to slip past your guard to strike you in your already bruised stomach. You fall back to clutch your abdomen, but not before three more come your way. You clench your teeth through the pain to defend yourself. Uppercutting the first, forward kicking the second, and whipping your yo-yo into the chin of the third.
At this time, the three of you back your way to Kenshi. The swarm of monsters circle you, closing in slowly.
âYou got us into this. How about getting us out?â Kenshi steels himself at Johnnyâs words. âI know what this looks like, but we donât work for Shang Tsung.â The man in front did not seem to believe him.
âIf not, why save him?â His voice is gravelly, almost painful sounding. âBecause Liu Kang, Earthrealmâs Protector, wants to question him,â Kenshi explains desperately. âHe thinks Shang Tsung may be a threat to both our realms.â
He seems to accept this answer reluctantly. Kenshi holds out his hand in greeting, but he does not return the gesture.
âOur kind do not shake hands.â He growls. Kenshi quickly retracts his hand. âIâm sorry. I didnât mean to offend.â âDonât you know what we are?â He questions. Itâs times like these you wish you paid more attention in those classes. âNo, we donât.â
The man gestures to the rest of the colony. âWe are victims of Tarkat,â He begins to explain. âThe disease is not easily gotten, but you canât risk more close exposure.â At this, Johnny swiftly wipes his hands on his chest plate earning a glare from you.
The tarkatan continues, âIt disfigures, then debilitates. In time, it will turn us all into blood-thirsty monsters.â What a cruel fate, you think to yourself.
âSo you werenât always like this?â Lao asks. It's hard to tell if the man is perpetually angry with your presence or thatâs just a resting face. âI was once a rich merchant. But when I became ill, I was banished. Now I run this colony.â You couldnât imagine living with this disease. You hold respect for the man who now introduces himself. âI am Baraka.â
Respect or no, you need answers. âWhat does Shang Tsung want with your bone marrow, Baraka?â The tarkatan looks downcast. âI donât know. But he comes here each month to harvest it.â
Kenshi continues, âRelease us and weâll capture Shang Tsung. And weâll find out why heâs been coming here, I promise.â
Baraka looks to his fellow members of the disease, âLet them go.â Kenshi looks relieved, âThank you. We won't let you down.â
The red clad man pulls the talisman out from his pocket, only to find it was broken. âDamn. This was guiding us to Shang Tsung. Now we canât find him.â âHis laboratory is near,â he states. âIâll take you.â
Knowing what little you do about this horrid spellcaster, you have a sinking feeling settling in your stomach.
âŠ.
After wandering past the Tarkatan colony and through the woods, you come to a medium-sized building. Shang Tsungâs laboratory. You pictured something more menacing, although keeping a low profile would help his case. Either way, you dread whatâs to come.
âAny idea what to expect?â Johnny muses. âNo,â Baraka states. âIâve never been inside.â âI couldnât imagine youâd want to.â You chime.
âStay here. Weâll check it out.â Kenshi says. At this, you and the others head toward the entrance of the building, leaving Baraka to hope you come back alive.
âŠ.
You and the others enter the building, your caution at an all time high. Kenshi, leading the group, opens the door at the top of the stairs leading to the top floor of the laboratory. You hear Shang Tsung speaking about something with Kytinn larvae, whatever the hell that is.
You, Kenshi, Johnny, and Kung Lao reach the top of the staircase but remain hidden by the stone wall lining the stairs. You crouch down to remain unseen as you listen into his conversation.
âHow can you be sure?â You see the High Mage, Rain, and the Leader of the Umgadi, Tanya stand beside an unconscious Princess Mileena. What on Earth Realm is going on? It was then, you heard where Barakaâs bone marrow went, sending a chill down your spine. âBecause it was brewed from freshly extracted Tarkatan marrow,â He states matter-of-factly. âIt couldnât be more potent.â
Kung lao says what youâre thinking, âHeâs infecting her with Tarkat.â âAnd heâs got two of Sindelâs top dogs in on it,â Johnny adds. âNo wonder Liu Kang was worried about this guy.â
The four of you crouch down to devise your game plan. âWe need to stop them.â Kenshi starts. âSave a distressed damsel? Sure thing.â Letâs do this.
You run out from where you were hiding and announce your presence. âGet away from her!â Kenshi states sternly. âYou bitch!â You know you did not just hear that come from Johnnyâs mouth. The actor looks so smug for his reference no one gets.
Kung Lao pushes his arm. âExcuse me?â You all look at Johnny with annoyed confusion. âYou know, the movie? Tiny girl, ginormous alien,â he mimes the scene. âRipley!â You just shake your head in disbelief he would pull a joke at a time like this. Dimwit.
âNo? Seriously?â Back to the mission at hand.
âEarthrealmers?â Rain begins. âHow did they find us?â âTheyâve already seen too much.â Tanya interjects.
She charges at Johnny and Kung Lao first, swinging her sanjiegun. Before Rain or Shang Tsung could react, you and Kenshi were already charging at them. Shooting out your yo-yo to knock the syringe out of the sorcerer's hand. He looks at you with some sort of death wish making you smirk as you pull Reaper back to your hand.
His eyes whip to Rain, âI need time. Buy it for me.â He scurries off to another part of his lab. You attempt to rush after him but the Hydromancer blocks your way with his staff.
âLiu Kang sent you, didnât he?â Rain sneers. âSent you to learn our secrets!â âHe sent us here for Shang Tsung. But it looks like heâs just part of the problem.â Kenshi says, and you follow. âJust hand him over Rain. He only means to deceive all of us.â
Rain simply tuts before summoning his hydro powers. He creates a blast of water, hurdling it straight at you both. Either of you go separate ways to dodge, then make your own attacks from either side of him. You shoot Reaper out to wrap around his staff as Kenshi draws his sword. With your yo-yo trying to tear the staff away from him, he struggles to break free with Kenshi about to strike.
Suddenly, Rain yanks on his staff causing you to lose balance and fall to the floor. However, not before Kenshi slashes through the taught yo-yo string disarming you. Fuck.
Rain regains control of his staff and dodges Kenshiâs slash. You stumble from your feet, pocketing your broken weapon. Fists it is, then.
You gain your fighting stance and throw practiced punches at the mage. You manage to land the first few hits, but then he sweeps your feet with his staff and blasts you away with a powerful gust of water. Your back smacked the stone wall with a painful crack, knocking the wind out of you.
Kenshi makes trained slashes at the mage next. Successfully evading the blasts, he managed to beat the hydromancer and knock him to the ground.
Having beat Rain, you look over to see how Kung Lao and Johnny were doing. Not great considering Kung Lao got slammed in the face and Johnny practically did a backflip with how hard he got hit.
She was about to go for another blow, but Kenshi ran up behind her and flipped her around and away from Johnny.
âI thought Umgadi were loyal to the royal house,â Kenshi disdains. âYet here you are, scheming against the princess.â Tanya has the nerve to act offended. âYou trespass in Outworld, interfere in imperial matters. It is you, not I, who is the schemer here.â Thus, their battle begins.
You try to get up, but a sharp jolt shoots through your back. Itâs only a pulled muscle, but you know it will bruise quickly if one hasnât already formed. Since you canât help Kenshi, you slowly try to scoot over to where Kung Lao and Johnny lay to make sure theyâre alright.
You make it to Lao who has managed to sit up from where he lay. âAre you all good Lao?â He heaves a sigh. âYeah, Iâm good. BUt you seem a little worse for wear.â His comment makes you scoff. âYes, I suppose getting flung into a stone wall will do that to you.â
You were about to check on Johnny, but he chimes in before you could ask. âDamn that hurt.â âGlad youâre not dead then.â You chuckle as Lao helps you to your feet. Just as Kenshi beats Tanya does Johnny get up from the ground with Lao's help.
Kenshi huffs, out of breath having won. âStep away from the table.â He holds his sword out to the sorcerer making a new serum.
âThis is twice youâve been a thorn in my side,â He slowly glances back, clearly annoyed. âYou Earthrealmers do have unhealthy habits.â Johnny interjects. âYou heard him. Youâre not infecting her with Tarkat.â
He has the nerve to look offended. âI am trying to protect her, not infect her.â âLike weâd believe that.â You shout. âWeâve heard about how you lie. Excuse us if weâre skeptical,â Kenshi looks toward him, then to your group. âCover him.â The swordsman leaves to go check on Mileena from around the corner.
You step forward, âJust put the syringe down, Shang Tsung.â However stern your voice was, it was not enough to make him yield. âYou do not understand what youâre getting yourselves into.â He sneers.
It was then you heard the sounds of Mileenaâs pained struggles. Kenshi shouting, âPrincess? Whatâs wrong?!â
Kung Lao grabs onto Shang Tsungâs arm. âWhat did you do to her?â The spellcaster attempts to yank his arm away. âItâs what youâve done, fool! Let me help her before itâs too late.â
The screams continue, sounding more painful than the last. The click of the one buckle holding her in place didnât sound for much longer before a rip came from it. The worst sound you heard was that of her flesh molding and tearing away to reveal sharp teeth much like Barakaâs
âNow do you believe, Earthrealmers?â Shang Tsung states with alarming calm. Kenshi backs into your view, with the monster that is Princess Mileena shortly after. As trained as his face is, you can still see the glimmer of terror in his eyes.
âWhat do we do?â Kenshi asks quickly. âKeep her occupied. I need time to finish more serum.â Picking up two vials, he begins his work once more. âJohnny, a hand here?â You hear the rising panic in his voice at the request.
Johnny rushes to his side. You try to go, but you fear you may collapse as you feel a sharp pain in your back once more. You stick with Kung Lao who is scrutinizing the sorcerer's work. You glance over your shoulder to see the battle between the infected princess and Kenshi begin. After a few minutes, that felt like hours, you see Shang Tsung finish up the serum. âJohnny, Kung Lao, hold her down.â The two rush over to hold her by the arms.
âItâs now or never Shang Tsung!â Kenshi shouts as theyâve got Mileena on the ground. Shang Tsung loads the syringe with the serum and heads over. Not before she broke out of their hold, knocking them out of the way.
Time seemed to stop as you witnessed the horrid sight of Kenshiâs sight being robbed from him. Blood sprayed everywhere. Your heart stopped as you heard the deafening cries of agony from your friend. âKenshi!â Johnny cries. You fall to your knees in a state of shock, unable to will your body into motion.
Tears welled into your eyes as Mileena raised her sais up once more to strike a final blow. Shank. You thought she did it until you saw the vial plunged into her neck.
âBy the gods, Mileena!â A new female voice exclaimed. Oh no. It was Princess Kitana. In the midst of more guards and known faces come in, you crawl your way over to Kenshi. Oh my gods. What should I do? Heâs out cold. You hold his head in your lap to make him more comfortable.
âWhatâs happened here, sorcerer?â Kitana demands. The man in question saves face, only for himself. âThese people were sent to disrupt your sisterâs treatment and scandalize Outworld by revealing her illness.â His words were like an ice bucket over your head. No way.
âWhat? Thatâs totally fake news!â Johnny tried to plead, but was promptly knocked out by the Shokan guard. Going for Lao next, your friend manages to block the first hit. Promptly followed by a punch to the gut, then to his head. You shoot your attention to Kitana. You begged, but it was too late. âPrincess, please you have to believe u-â

AN:
The night was calm in Seido. Air was warm, but the breeze made it nice. The grass was smooth beneath you where you sat. The coarse dirt on your hands was a comfort you frequently enjoyed. You felt at peace as you watched the sun set on the capitol city.
But you werenât alone. No. You had your best friend next to you.
He sat next to you, watching the same sunset. Hand inching toward yours. You tore your eyes from the wonder of nature on the horizon to set them upon your friend. Noticing his hand almost touching yours, you smiled at him.
He gazed at you, adoration prevalent in his eyes. You knew he wanted to hold your hand, he always does. He finds solace in your touch. You however, donât enjoy beating around the bush.
You scoop his hand in yours and grasp it tight. Shocked at your bold move, he freezes. A blush is evident on his face in the following moments. You smile at how shy he becomes around you. He is a wild child after all. Though, you do love seeing this soft side of him.
He pulls his hand away and turns his head. Heâs embarrassed, but youâll have none of that. You decide the best way to handle the situation is simple: tackle him.
You jump on top of him and you two roll around in the dirt. He was caught off guard, but that doesnât mean his reflexes are slow. He quickly gains the upper hand on you, having done this multiple times.
This time, however, you kicked him off. You laughed as he rolled off you. You could hear him cackle loudly too. Both of you lay flat on your backs next to the other as you gaze toward the sky. The heavy saturations of pinks, blues, and purples was a sight you wished you could see forever.
âHey, I have something for you.â He finally breaks the silence. Your turn to face him, curious. You both sit up as he digs something out of his pocket. He holds the small object up to you. You let out a gasp of surprise at the handcrafted yo-yo he gave to you.
âOh Rou, I love it.â The joy you felt could not be contained. As such, you ran up to the unsuspecting boy and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. âIâll treasure it forever.â You admired the trinket and gave it a few spins. What you didnât see was that he had a big smile on his face. How his gaze softened when he saw the joy on your face. You didnât feel how fast his heart beat around you.
DONG DING DONG
You both turn your heads at the sound. âOh shoot! I forgot about curfew again.â You quickly start to gather your things, putting the new yo-yo in your pocket. He hands you your coat that was flung off somewhere earlier. âThanks. Iâll be sure to hang out with you again soon, ok?â He waved you off as you ran down the hill to get home. Your parents will be mad at you for forgetting curfew again.
He couldnât wait for the next time heâd see you. And you couldnât either.
ââââââââââââââ
This is it. This is what youâve prepared for for years. You are all gathered at the gateway arch as you watch the magic unfurl from Liu Kangâs hands. You have seen him do this a thousand times, but it still leaves you in awe to watch him open a portal. The fire from him, manifesting into a swirling, circular pathway to the tournament ahead.
âOutworld can be both alien and intoxicating to Earthrealmers. Do not become drawn in.â Liu Kang begins. âYou must focus on the task at hand.â You listen to his words intently. Johnny seems to be doing the opposite as he has his phone out recording this. How on Earth he plans to make a movie from this is beyond you. You watch as Liu Kang enters the new realm without a single glance back. You force yourself to take a breath to soothe the nerves that threaten to consume you.
The five of you follow Liu Kang into the unknown. . . Not before Kenshi shoves Johnnyâs phone out of his face.
The beauty of Outworld is indescribable. You walk beside Kenshi and Johnny, the latter of which is still recording. âToto, I have a feeling weâre not in Kansas anymore.â He looks so happy at his references you donât have it in you to tell him to shut up right now. âOh my.â
You hear Johnny say, you turn your head in his direction. You see two stunning women lined up with guards at the top of the staircase. âOh my, indeed.â You agree. âAre those. . .â He trails off, waiting for Liu Kang's confirmation.
He turns to answer, âEmpress Sindelâs daughters, yes.â Johnny looks pleased by that answer. âThey do not disappoint.â You shoot Johnny a warning glance as you elbow him in the side. He rolls his eyes and continues recording the illustrious Outworld.
Johnny looks smug with himself before Raiden shoots him down. âWe are Earthrealmâs ambassadors, Johnny. Weâll show them respect. Not unwanted attention.â You and the others nod your head in agreement. Johnny just over exaggerates a wink.
You finally arrive before the stairs before the princesses of Outworld. Liu Kang bows in reverence, and you all follow suit. The lady in pink speaks first.
âLord Liu Kang, welcome.â âThank you Princess Mileena.â She looks pleased. âYou remember my sister?â She nods her head toward the woman in blue beside her. You know Liu Kang never forgets anyone. âOf course. Princess Kitana.â Kitana nods her head in confirmation.
Liu Kang then introduces you. âMay I introduce Johnny Cage, Kung Lao, Y/N, Kenshi Takehashi, and Earthrealmâs champion, Raiden.â Each one of you nods in acknowledgement as your name is called.
Your attention is diverted when you hear Kitana speak. âI hope youâre prepared, Raiden. Our champions are determined to win.â You look at Raiden, trying to reassure him. He has a strong look on his face. You know heâll do just fine.
âNone more so than me,â It's Mileenaâs turn to speak. âItâs been too long since weâve known victory.â
âPrincess Mileena,â The yellow suited guard cuts in. âWe should be on our way. Empress Sindel awaits.â âThank you Tanya,â She motions for you all to come with her. âFollow me please.â
You ascend the stairs and follow Mileena to the grand carts that will lead to your next location. You find yourself in the wagon with Kitana, Kenshi, Kung Lao, and Johnny Cage. Raiden and Lord Liu Kang were with Mileena in the first carriage.
âThe festival looks so lively,â You begin. âIâve never seen anything like it. You gaze into the streets. There were banners strung across every street corner, all in flashy, vibrant colors. All the shops and food carts. What you would give to be able to try the food here.
It seems Kung Lao had the same thought as he was eyeing a particular cart selling what looked like kebabs. âHungry already, Lao?â You elbow him in the arm to snap him out of his hunger haze.
âWhat? I didnât eat that much this morning.â He crosses his arms defensively. This brought out a stark laugh from Johnny and Kenshi. âNot that much?â Johnny begins. âYou eat more than all of us combined.â âDo not!â âKung Lao, weâre kidding,â you look out at the guard walking in line next to the carriage. âWell, I am kidding. Theyâre probably not.â He snaps his head in your direction to glare at you.
âIâm serious, youâre always hungry.â Kensh says. âSorry bro, themâs the breaks.â Kung Lao punches Johnny in the arm. âOuch!â Lao goes for a weak punch to his face. âHey, not the face!â You and Kenshi just stare at their childish fight. âWow. . .â Kitana says.
âYouâll have to forgive them Princess. This happens frequently to prevent it.â You plead your case. âThis is quite entertaining. Itâs not often I see two people slap-fight before my eyes.â She nods to the boys and they are, in fact, slap-fighting now. You sit there like a disappointed parent and Kenshi wishes he was in the other carriage.
The carts suddenly stop. Everyone looks at each other confused. You and Kitana peer out the side to look ahead of the crowd. You see Princess Mileena hurriedly rush up to speak to a lady in purple.
âWho is that?â You ask Kitana. âThat would be the First Constable, Li Mei.â She looks confused. âThough, I am unsure why she is out in the middle of the street now. Iâll have to ask my sister later.â Annoyed is not adequate to describe the look on Mileenaâs face as she goes back into the carriage. Your ride to the palace is quiet from this point on.
You stand inside the palace waiting for the first fight of the tournament to begin. You notice that Raiden is nervous. You want to help him, but you have no idea what to say that would calm his nerves. Lucky for you, Liu Kang knows what to say.
âWorry expends energy for no purpose, Raiden.â Liu Kang is as calm as ever. Raiden, however, looks stressed out of his mind. âBut the tournament. If I loseââ âFocus on your actions, not the outcome.â The fire wielder cuts him off. âIt is all you can control.â
It was then that a large man with horns entered the room. His presence is almost bigger than the man himself.
âRed alert.â Johnny chimes in. âIncoming stock villain.â You barely manage to hold your snort back.
âGeneral Shao. Do not let him goad you.â Liu Kang informs you all of the man that now stands before you. Much to your surprise, the general laughs in your faces.
âIs it me, or is Earthrealmâs champion scrawnier than usual?â The general sneers.
You tried to hold Kung Lao back, but he stepped up to Shao. âWould you care to test his strength? Raiden willââ âWill prove himself soon enough.â Liu Kang cuts in before Lao can say something he will regret. The general looks down at Liu Kang. âHave you still not told most Earthrealmers that Outworld exists?â
Your Lord does not falter, âIt is safer that way, General.â The General takes a tone of arrogance. âI suppose so. Your peopleâs frail minds couldnât handle the truth.â Although you are not from Earthrealm, you hate the way Shao speaks about your home. Now itâs Laoâs turn to hold you back.
âYou presume them frail, General?â He stands his ground. âShould you. . . given how frequently they win this tournament?â The General does not like his words. âWe will destroy your champion, Liu Kang. He will taste no victory.â He storms off to take his place next to the three thrones at the end of the room.
Trumpets blare loudly to announce the arrival of the Empress and her daughters. You all turn to the entrance of the grand hall. Empress Sindel strides in with Princess Mileena and Kitana at her sides behind her. They walk with such grace and power it sends a shiver down your spine.
Sindel takes her seat on the grand throne in the center, while Mileena sits to her left and Kitana on her right.
âWelcome, members of the royal home.â Her voice booms over the crowd. âWelcome, our esteemed Earthrealm guests. We gather here again to honor my late husbandâs legacy. To continue the tournament that he founded with Lord Liu Kang in hopes that it would foster peace among realms.â She looks pained to give this speech even long after Jerrodâs death. âMay Jerrodâs soul watch over us with pride from its resting place in the Living Forest.â
âLord Liu Kang,â She looks upon him.
âEmpress Sindel.â He returns her call. âIt pleases me to once again be your guest. He bows to her.
âHere, you are always welcome.â She crosses her leg. âNow, let us meet your champion.â
Earthrealmâs champion is Raiden, Your Majesty.â Liu Kang steps out of the way, gesturing to Raiden.
This came as a shock to the Empress. Liu Kang has mentioned you a few times during meetings in years past. He was proud of you, yes, but the champion not being you surprised her.
The god continues on, âHe has earned his place by embodying the very best qualities of Earthrealmâs people.â
She turned to assess the oncoming challenger. âYou seem nervous, young man.â
âIâm a stranger in an unfamiliar land. Here to compete against its greatest fighters. Yes, I am nervous.â Raiden was almost blunt with his response. Maybe your and Laoâs sarcasm has finally worn off on him.
âAs you should be.â Sindel states simply. âYou have a difficult path ahead.â She stands tall from her throne, âIt has begun!â
You hear footsteps sound from the back of the room. What is seen is Li Mei walking in to meet her challenger.
âAs tradition requires, Outworldâs initial competitor will be Sun Doâs First Constable. Li Mei.â She walks up to the Empress. âMay she defend our realmâs glory as well as she preserves our capitalâs order.â
Li Mei proudly responds to her ruler, âYour Majesty, I will honor both the royal house, and all of Outworld, with my kombat. She puts her right fist over her heart to salute her queen, descending the stairs to meet her.
Empress Sindel reaches out to her, with a soft gaze on her face. You canât quite make out the next words she says to her First Constable. But, whatever words they were, Li Mei looked dejected to hear them. At that, Sindel returns to her seat as Li Mei turns toward Raiden.
âAll you need do is your best. The rest will take care of itself.â Liu Kang puts the same reassuring hand on Raidenâs shoulder. Only this time, the recipient is pleased to hear the words spoken.
Raiden looks reassured. âYes, Lord Liu Kang.â With that, Liu Kang steps off to the side to reveal Li Mei in front of him.
âShall we see what you can do?â She asks rhetorically. Raiden is undeterred. âHopefully, this is the first of many victories.â âI will prevail, Earthrealmer. This fight is more important to me than you could ever know.â
You and your fellow champions all watch in painful anticipation. You have your faith in Raiden. You look to your side and Kung Lao has nothing but certainty in his eyes. It seems like youâre not the only one with complete trust in his abilities. You are happy your talk got through to him.
The fight begins as Raiden and Li Mei trade basic kombat blows to get a feel for the action. You are not worried until Li Mei hits him with a purple burst of energy that sends him back a few steps.
You realize Raiden has only had his amulet for a short time, youâre not sure how well he can use it.â Your concern is quickly shaken when Raiden hits her with his own energy. He shoots balls of lightning from his palm in sets of threes. Raiden is able to get off a few more blasts before Li Mei charges him with magic and a rapid series of punches.
She sets up a lanturn before sending her Lion after him. He quickly sets up an electrical force field to deflect. Li Mei tries to get another attack on him but gets caught in his electric trap. She is thrown into the air and back away from him. She goes falling back to the other side of the room. When she tried to stand, she couldnât. Thus, Raiden won his first battle.
âThank you for the match, First Constable.â He warmly regards. She looks utterly crestfallen. But she swallows her shame and bows before the champion. Before anyone could say anything to her, she stalks quietly out of the room.
âMy compliments,â The Empress begins, causing heads to turn to her. âRaiden, on a well fought match. Weâll see how you fare in the next fight.â She turns to her side. âGeneral Shao. Whom have you chosen as our next competitor?â
The General steps up to address the crowd. âYour Majesty, I have chosen Reiko, my second in command.â Thus enters Reiko himself. âAs a boy, Reiko was orphaned during the Kafallah War. Though captured, his spirit remained unbroken. He scratched, clawed, and survived.â
Johnny nudges your side, âShort, orphaned, and perpetually angry? Pick a struggle.â You have to clench your teeth to stifle the laugh that threatens to come out. You mustn't incur the wrath of the General or his second in command.
The General continues on, âAfter the war, I took him in. Molded him into the perfect soldier. Few others are as well versed in the art of war.â Reiko approaches and stops in front of Raiden. Now you really have to hold back your laughter with Johnny as Reiko starts punching air. You know heâs demonstrating his skills, but you canât help but think it funny. Lao grips on to your shirt, face red from holding it in.
Reiko finishes his display with a jump, roundhouse kick. You simply couldn't hold back the small snicker that escaped you. Li Kang, without turning to look at you, smacks you on the back. You finally calm down enough to listen to Reiko speak.
âIn whose army have you served? In what wars have you fought?â âI have done neither.â This answer does not please Reiko. âThen you are woefully unprepared, Earthrealmer.â He sneers in disgust as he gets into his stance. âThis will be your last battlefield.â
âDoes he really compare everything to war?â You whisper to Lao and Johnny. âHe must, because you can hee his scowl lines.â Lao chirps. âThat and his war paint looks like a goth clown.â Johnny never fails to say something so bold yet so true. Kenshi murmurs out, âStop that, all of you three need to shut up!â You smirk, âOk mom.â You receive âoohsâ from the other two beside you. You turn back to the fight.
The fight begins with Raiden trying to get the upper hand on his opponent by shooting lightning at him. Reiko, with apparent years of experience, dodges and rushes him. He grapples Raiden into a suplex and pulls him to the ground. Ouch, that had to hurt. The thunder wielder is quick to recover with a bolt of lightning straight to Reikoâs chest.
This causes him to stumble back a bit. Raiden was almost caught off guard by Reikoâs throwing stars. He was so quick you didnât see him pull them out. However, Raiden throws up a barrier in the nick of time. Raiden flies at him, parallel to the ground, and tackles the Generalâs second in command. He avoids Reikoâs fists and manages to finish the fight with a strong burst of thunder from him.
You see the aftershocks remain on his body. The light blue sparks emanating off his body looked painful.
âFelled by a simple farmer.â Raiden states. He turns to face the queen. But you can also see General Shao sneer and storm off, clearly displeased by the turn of events. âI am ready for my next opponent, your Majesty. Whom shall I face?â As Raiden requests his next opponent, Reiko is seen picking himself up off the floor. His face morphed in anger as he was upset with the outcome of their fight.
âPatience, young man.â Sindel stands. âWe are adjourned until first light. I hope to see you all at this eveningâs banquet.â You and Lao look at each other in excitement for the delicious food tonight.
â â â â â â â â â â â â â â
The night time air feels amazing. It is cool but just warm enough you feel relaxed and refreshed. The folk music was unlike anything you have heard before. You think the singer sounds lovely. You sit next to Reiko, which isnât exactly pleasing. Itâs more awkward than anything cus he got his butt whooped earlier.
Your thoughts of peace are interrupted by Lao absolutely stuffing his face full of the chicken presented on the table. He takes a big bite out of the tender leg and washes it down with a large gulp of wine. Staring at Kung Laoâs unmannered display of eating, you see Kenshi also disgusted by him.
âWhat?â Lao burps out. It seems heâs genuinely curious why youâre staring at him. You grimace, âYouâre gross.â He feigns offense. âHow could you say that?â âSheâs right, you know.â Kenshi quips. They devolve into their own argument.
You look away before you get dragged back into their squabble. You turn to Reiko, on your right. âCool eye makeup, Reiko.â You attempt to make pleasant conversation, but it seems he did not.
âIt is not makeup. It is war paint!â He states with a stern tone, almost yelling. Defensive much? Must have struck a nerve. He continues with his new found rant. âIt seems Earthrealmerâs donât understand the meaning of these markings.â He scoffs.
âDone yet? Not everything in life is about war. Seems youâve lived a boring one if thatâs all you think about.â You roll your eyes at him. He sneers like heâs about to say something until Lao shouts, âHAH! She called you boring.â You shoot him a look that says âstopâ before he gets you both into trouble.
âApologies Reiko, I didn't mean to offend. Iâm just making conversation.â He just brushes you off in favor of conversing with General Shao. That went well, hmm. Your attention is seized by Johnny shamelessly flirting with Kitana.
âIâm sorry, Youâre 10,000 years old?â Johnny asks in stupor, âTalk about aging gracefully.â She merely shrugs in confirmation. You lean to Kung Lao, âIs he going to flirt with every lady we meet, or are guys still on the table?â He nearly chokes on his chicken at your comment. Kenshi nearly slaps him over the head.
You quiet down when you hear Empress Sindel speak. âMy husband Jerrod believed that the future of our realms lay together.â She raises her glass, âLet us move forward in open dialogue. Letting no secrets tear our bonds asunder.
Everyone rises from their seats to lift their glass in toast to the evening. It is Raiden who talks first after her speech. âYour Majesty, Itâs an honor to be here and to meet your people,â He looks toward everyone with a smile. â I can already see thereâs more that joins us than divides us.â
It was then you saw that General Shao wasnât standing. He snarls a laugh before standing to interrupt. âOur peoples could not be more different, champion.â Raiden turns, confused at why he was being rude. âExcuse me?â âYou heard me. Earthrealmers are devoid of allâ.â
âThat is enough, General.â The Empress interjects with authority. The General, annoyed evident on his face, straightened himself. âMy apologies, Your Majesty. Perhaps Iâve enjoyed too much of this excellent wine. With your permission. . .â
âYou may go.â At her command, he storms off. But not before breaking his chalice. Sindel looks as though he just personally offended her. He may as well have, as his actions could tarnish her reputation. She saves face, however, âPlease excuse him, may the feast continue.â
An air of unease still has hold over the atmosphere of the night. Dinner goes as smoothly as possible after the General's outburst. At the nightâs end, you all retreat to your chambers for much needed rest. Raiden still has eight more people to face, each more difficult than the last. . .
Morning comes and you all are up bright and early. Is there a word for interrealm âjetâ lag? Portal Lag? Oh well. Raiden has managed to beat every opponent he has faced yet. Honestly you're impressed by his stamina, given heâs had few breaks in between battles.
It is past what you assume to be noon, and his series of challengers draws near the end. You are gathered in the courtyard for his final tests.
âYou continue to surprise, Raiden.â She begins. âAmong others, you have defeated Kotal, Motaro, and Sheeva. Only two fights remain. Are you ready, Earthrealmer?
Raiden steps forward, âI am, your Majesty.â She looks neutrally pleased. âThen next, you face my daughter.â You expected to hear Mileenaâs name be called but to everyoneâs shock, âKitana.â You look to see that it is, indeed, Kitana that approaches.
Liu Kang was not prepared for this, but he retains his composure. âYour Majesty, this is unprecedented.â He steps between the two opponents. âRaidenâs next opponent should be your heir.â
Sindel seems to challenge Liu Kangâs objection. âMileena is unavailable. Sheâs away on pressing imperial business.â Heâs at a loss here. âBut I have not prepared him to battle Kitana.â Raiden and Kitana look at each other in confusion.
âHeâs already demonstrated great skill. Can he not improvise?â Her patience grows thin with his persistence.
Raiden looks at Liu Kang. âDo not worry. I can do this.â He seems to accept his answer, âVery well.â He walks to his place on the sidelines, as Raiden prepares for his impromptu battle. You knew Mileena had sais as her weapon of choice, you were curious to see what Kitana had up her sleeves.
âI will be no easier to fight than my sister, Earthrealmer.â Kitana readies her stance. Raiden, ever polite, âI suffer under no such delusion, Your Highness.â
âI will win this fight. For her, my Empress, and all of Outworld.â No further conversation is had, the fight begins.
Kitana is unbelievably swift as she starts with a series of kicks and punches. Raiden dodgers and parries by sending a bolt of thunder her way. Your query from earlier is answered as she uses her bladed fans to diffuse the bolt.
She charged at him with her fans spread and swiped at him. He almost lost his foothold trying to move from the double onslaught coming at him. She did manage to get a scrape on him which caused a little blood to flow from his arm.
He hadnât faultered at all, shocking her with his electricity. She was momentarily stunned and that was all he needed to send spheres of thunder and mass amounts of electricity at her. She couldnât hold up against it, and she was blown away. Raiden had won the match against Princess Kitana.
You, Lao, and Johnny were hyped together to see Raiden win again. You pulled Kenshi into the hype huddle, much to his chagrin.
âYou fight well princess.â âAs do you, surprisingly so.â Raiden looked pleased. âI hope we meet again under different circumstances.â You are so going to poke at him for his words to the Princess.
âItâs time for the final match.â At Sindelâs words, Kitana returns to her seat at her side. âItâs a testament to your abilities that youâve made it thus far. But now you must face General Shao.â The man himself approaches wearing his usual battle armor. Only this time, he is wearing a helmet that covers the top half of his face in a skull detail.
âVictor of Tervarian War. Conqueror of the Kuatan Plains. Defender of the Navala Coast. As has his family for generations, General Shao defends us with zeal and tenacity. All of Outworld is grateful for his service.â The Queen states with pride in her General.
âThatâs a notable list of accomplishments, General.â How Raiden doesn't look the least bit nervous is beyond you. âIt is a mere fraction.â He raises his battle axe into position as Raiden enters his stance. âA full recitation would take days.â If only the General were as humble as Raiden. Oh well.
The ground shakes as the general gives Raiden no time to fully catch his guard. Just how strong is that axe?! Raiden stumbles to the ground, he quickly rolls out of the way as Shao charges him and brings his weapon down hard. Raiden swings his feet up to connect a charged kick to his opponent.
Shao slams his axe to the ground again, causing the ground to quake. This throws you all off balance as you hold onto each other to stay upright. Raiden, however, was ready for this one and launched into the air. He soars with power straight at the General, making heavy-hitting contact. This throws the General to the ground, leaving him unable to battle.
âItâs over. I have done it!â Raiden looks shocked that he still stands while Shao is on the ground. Sindel stands to give her praise, âCongratulations Raiden. Earthrealm wins.â With that, The Empress, Kitana, and her entourage of onlookers leave the courtyard.
Raiden, ever the kind soul, offers his hand to The General as he struggles to stand. âMay I assist you?â Shao swats his hand off. âStay away Earthrealmer.â
âWell done,â Liu Kang starts with pride. âYou have exceeded my greatest expectations.â Raiden nods in acceptance. âThank you, Lord Liu Kang.â âBecause of you, the Outworlders who would disturb the peace will once again be held at bay.â They start walking towards you four. âCome. Let us bid our hosts farewell and return to Earthrealm.â
You are serious for one moment as you bow to the tournament champion. Kung Lao runs to pat Raiden on the shoulder and you all sing your praises to Raiden. âYou were so awesome!â you say first. âWell done!â Johnny next. Then Kenshi, âVery impressive!â Lastly, his best friend. âThat was fantastic, Raiden. You really showed those Outworlders how itâs done.â
As you walk with your friends and mentor to give your last goodbyes to your hosts, you canât help but feel a sense of worry. That the tournament was only the beginning. Like the worst is yet to come.

A/N: actual second chapter next week teheđ
Your mind is racing with too many thoughts to comprehend at once. You feel overwhelmed. Why? Because you leave for Outworld tomorrow morning. The stress of preparation has kept you up all night. You have to make sure that youâll have everything you need. . . and may not need, but there could be a situation where you need all the backup Yo-yo string you have in your drawers.
Stopping your pacing, you take a deep breath in, then out. Calm down. You still have time to double, maybe triple, check your bag. But that will come later. For now, you need to find your fellow champions. Putting a pin in your stress-packing, you leave to find the boys.
You find Johnny and Kenshi first, as theyâre both in Kenshiâs room. Kenshi looks exhausted and a little annoyed. However, the reason isnât that hard to find. Johnny is non stop talking about his Hollywood movies. You pause at the door and wait for permission to enter.
Kenshi notices you first. When Johnny sees that he isnât listening anymore, he turns to look for the distraction. He smiles and waves you in.
âHey! I was just talking about one of my movies. Wanna hear about it?â He smiles so wide like a kid. He really loves his own movies, doesn't he? Before you could foolishly say yes, Kenshi interrupts you. âSure, say yes,â He deadpans. âHeâll only talk your ear off for 3 hours!â He shoots daggers at the actor with his eyes.
âOh come on Takahashi. Itâs only been about 30 minutes. At BEST!â You sense Kenshiâs growing agitation before it shows on his face. âYou have been running on and on about your dumb movies since we came back from dinner at 6. Itâs 9:30 now!â You finally chime in, âJohnny, I think you might need to get a watch.â He frowns, âOh hush.â
Kenshi just sighs and Johnny starts sulking, trying to get more attention. âAnyways, did you need something?â You look at him like he grew a second head. You were so caught up in their petty squabble that you forgot why you came here. âI didnât really need anything. I was just stressing myself out packing. I just needed to get my mind off of it. Thatâs all.â You shrug as the other men nod.
âWell I would have been packed a long time ago if it werenât for someone here.â Johnny feigns being offended. You stifle a laugh at their bickering. They either snicker or scoff at you finding amusement in the situation at hand. When Kenshi shoots up from his bed to point fingers into Johnnyâs chest is when you decide to intervene.
You whip out Reaper from your shortâs pocket. Giving it a few spins you throw the yo-yo in their direction. You watch in delight as Reaper wraps around the two, tying them together. Johnny loses his balance and falls forward with Kenshi landing on top of him.
Johnnyâs pained cry can be heard as heâs always loud. He wheezes out, âNot cool dude! Kenshi, get off. Youâre squishing my beautiful face into the ground.â Kenshi squirms to attempt getting out of Reaperâs hold. âI would be faster if you would just sit still for five seconds.â
They both would have hit the other by now if they had full range of their hands. Your eyes feel wet as tears start to well up in your eyes. âGAHAH,â You doubled over. âYou two should see your faces right now.â You let out a string of cackles. Your stomach hurts from roaring at the situation. All you get in return is glares from your two friends. âUntie us Y/N.â âGet him off me!â They shout in unison.
You chuckle the whole way walking over to them. You really tied them tight. It took full effort to get the string untangled. Finally getting the last loop undone, they push themselves off eachother. You skillfully recall the yo-yo back to your hand. With the looks they give you, you almost think that theyâre tired of your pranks.
With that, Kenshi ushers you both out of his room. He did have to pack after hearing a whole TED Talk about Johnnyâs movies. You and Johnny continuously laugh as you walk to find Raiden and he walks to his room. Probably to pack at least three more hand mirrors.
As you head down the halls of the Wu Shi, you feel more relaxed. You quickly find Raidenâs room as you are all grouped close together. You knock gently on the door. You hear soft footsteps coming to the door as he slides it open. He was surprised to see you but welcomed you in.
âHey Raiden,â You plop down on a chair in his room. âHowâs packing going for you?â He sits on his bed not too far from you. âI was done packing earlier this morning. Iâll take it that everyone else isnât done?â He chuckles slightly. âI might be avoiding mine and Kenshi had an unfair distraction.â You look at him but Raiden gives you a confused look. âJohnny was said unfair distraction. Letâs be thankful that we didnât have to hear about his movies for three hours.â You grimace. Raiden only has a baffled expression on his face.
âThree hours? I knew Johnny could talk endlessly, but Iâm surprised Kenshi put up with it that long.â He smiles as he removes his hat to put it on the nightstand. âI totally thought Kenshi was gonna hit him after I tied them together,â The mental image in your head makes you snort. âRaiden, are you ready for tomorrow?â
He looks up at that question, then looks away sheepishly. âI donât know. Iâm nervous that I wonât be the champion Lord Liu Kang wants me to be.â His hand rubs the back of his neck. âRai, youâll be fine. You were chosen for a reason.â You smile softly at him and he relaxes a little. Standing from your seat, you move over to the bed and put your hand on the manâs shoulder.
âWhatever you could possibly lack in strength, you make up for in heart.â He looks directly at you hearing those words. You seem to have struck a chord in his mind as he looks more assured than before. âYou give me too much praise. Thank you, I will not let you guys down.â âAtta boy, thatâs the spirit. Now I have to go. I still need to find Lao. Good night Raiden.â âGood night.â He waves you off as you leave and close his door.
Honestly, it feels like you havenât seen Kung lao since breakfast this morning. We had the day off to relax before the tournament. Thank the Gods for that. You make your way to Kung Laoâs room with ease, however, you make a quick detour to the kitchen to grab some chips. You two play games and have snacks together often, so you know his favorite kind of treats.
You knock on the door, âHey Lao, you in there? I have snacks.â You hope the snacks will get him to run to the door. Nothing. Thatâs weird. He never refuses snacks. You knock again, and after no response you think he must be asleep. You turn to leave, before you hear the door creek open. You turn around only to be met with a disheveled Lao.
Your face drops to worry and you open the door farther to see the mess his room is. âLao? Whatâs wrong, what happened?â You put the bag of chips aside and move him back to sit on his bed. He wipes away the remnants of his tear streaked face. Sniffling, âYou brought snacks?â You pause, that's what he wants after crying? Makes sense. You retrieve the chip bag and open it, leaning the bag toward him.
He takes a chip, and eats it. He stiffens as he feels your hand caress his back. âYou can tell me whatâs wrong. I want to help you.â He keeps his head low, not wanting to make eye contact. âI justâ Itâs that,â He calms himself with a deep breath. âIâm jealous of Raiden, and I hate that I feel this way because heâs my best friend.â You're shocked at his response. He is so carefree. You never thought anything got to him. âCan you tell me why youâre jealous?â
He looks at you like he might start crying again. âItâs because. . . he got the title of champion and I didnât. Iâm so happy and proud of him. But I just wish that it was me. I carry the name of the Great Kung Lao. How am I supposed to honor that name if I wasnât even good enough to be champion?â Your heart breaks for your friend at his confession.
You rub circles into his back to give him some comfort. He pushes his face into his hands. âIâm such a horrible friend.â That takes you aback. He is nothing of the sort and you will let him know, right now. âKung Lao, you are not a horrible friend. Youâve always been there when we needed you.â
He sniffles, âReally?â You smile, âYes of course. And being jealous doesnât make you a bad person. Everyone gets jealous, itâs a part of being human. What makes me so proud of you is that you can recognize those feelings, and not let them get the best of you. That takes being a great friend to do.â
You thought that he couldnât hug you tighter in that moment than when you said, âYour ancestors would be proud of you Lao.â You probably felt a rib pop but this is fine. When he lets go he wipes the tears from his eyes.
He looks at you, âAnd what about you? You donât feel jealous that Raiden is the champion and you didnât get a chance to compete?â Your heart pounded. âYou know Iâve waited almost my whole life for the tournament. Despite how badly I wanted to participate, I knew I wouldnât be able to. Iâm not from Earthrealm, but it is my home.â
âDoes that not hurt?â âOf course it doesnât, but Iâve made my peace with it. Regardless if I was born here or not, home is what we make it, not where we come from.â
âThank you Y/N. Youâre the best. Now. . . Are you gonna eat the rest of the chips?â You both burst out laughing at how he still thinks with his stomach. âNo, you can have them. And if anyone asks Iâll blame Johnny. Now get some sleep, Champion of Friends, we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow. Goodnight.â âGoodnight.â
He covers himself up with the blanket, but you still hear him crunching on his chips. He wonât be going to be soon. You chuckle to yourself at how many crumbs will be in his bed by morning.
Youâre exhausted, but that doesnât change how excited you are for the tournament tomorrow. You swear the moment you hit the bed youâll pass out. And that you did. . .

You sit at your vanity, ring light shining across your face in the dark room. Holding your face in your palm you pick up your phone. Waiting. Waiting for your lousy boyfriend to call, hell, even text you. (He does this all the time. Heâs probably off with another girl. . . again.)
That's it, you thought. You had had enough of your lousy manâs behavior. Leaving you lonely on a prime night like this. Youâd like to live a little, and live a little you shall.
The night was full of energy and you knew of the best way to spend it: The Club.
âDirty fishnets, bright red lips. My favorite kind.â
Getting dressed, you feel oh so bold. Deciding to wear your favorite black skirt. You have on a low rise top youâre sure will turn heads. Pairing the outfit with your torn up fishnets, heels, and your accessories, you canât help but feel you're missing something. Your eyes fall upon the bright crimson red lipstick you bought. Mouth raising into a grin, you grab the makeup and swipe it over your plush lips. (Oh yes. Heâd hate this look. Perfect.) Your thoughts cause you to smile so sinister.
Stepping out from behind the counter, you walk over to the full length mirror. Glamor and stunning could do no justice to describe the way you looked tonight. You havenât felt this good in a long time. Nothing and no one will prevent you from having a good night of fun. Thus, you turn your phone off and slip it into your purse as you strut out the door.
âSee you walkinâ across the floor. You caught my eye.â
Arriving at the club, you step out of your car and take a deep breath in. The anticipation for what the night may hold keeps the peep in your step fresh. You walk into the club and go straight for the bar. It canât be helped, itâs been too long since youâve had a drink or two.
Sipping on your beverage of choice, you decide to head to the dance floor. (Drinking alone doesnât make the night great. I need to dance.) Your favorite songs come on and all you can think of is the beat, your drink, and how much you needed this night.
While you were walking over to the crowd, you didnât seem to notice a certain someoneâs eyes following your every move. You could feel someone watching you, so you glanced around until you found the mystery man.
The lower half of his face was disfigured, which took you by surprise, but not afraid of it. He wore a half unbuttoned shirt and some jeans that look a little worse for wear. He knew you were checking him out, and he wasnât shy about anything. (This could be fun.) You made one last show of eying him then sent him a smirk with a look that says âkeep your distance, but not too far.â
He dragged his tongue across his teeth as you disappeared into the crowd. Taking your implicit directions as a challenge. He would wait for you to come around, but he couldnât help but go just a little closer. He got up from his seat in the booth, slowly making his way over to the people dancing the night away.
You dance your way through the crowd, just biding your time before he inevitably follows you. Looking back to find him, you see he isnât where he was before. (He was quick, where did he go so fast?) Your question was soon answered when you bumped into someone behind you. You sun around only to be met with the very man you were looking for.
You gave him a sultry look. âWell, that was fast. Couldnât stay away from me for long, hmm?â You leaned in closer until your bodies were almost touching while swaying to the music. He gave a dry chuckle, and bent closer to your ear. âHow could I not when youâre looking at me with that fire in your eyes.â It was then he pulled back to look you in the eyes.
He looked at you like he could eat you up then and there. You knew who you were taking home that night. You only gave him a matched gaze and said, âThis fire burns more than you think.â You feel the slightest shiver go down his spine. âI think Iâll take my chances with a woman like you.â His face contorts into what seems like a smirk. His eyes seem to pierce right through you, and that little blaze of heat goes straight to your gut.
âBefore I knew it and despite the voices in my head, somehow I found myself inside of your car.â
You bite your lip lightly as you feel up his muscular arms. A million thoughts were racing through your head. You thought of how your boyfriend would react if he found out, but you couldnât find it in you to care about him. All you wanted was a good night with the strange but alluring man in front of you. âThen letâs get out of here, hmm?â He could only start racing to the door with you. And before he knew it, he was already inside your car, with you speeding toward your apartment.
âI canât see, itâs a sexual reaction.â
While you were driving, the man, whose name you learned to be Havik, couldnât keep his hands off of you. He was dragging his hand up your skirt to rub you through your panties. He leaned over the center console to leave bite marks on your neck. You let out a slight moan for him, which seemed to egg him in even more. Not wanting to be the only one getting pleasure, you roughly gripped the visible bulge in his pants. Catching him off guard, he lets off a series of huffs and groans. You barely made it home with either one of you wanting to say fuck it and screw in your car.
âYou and Me, itâs animal attraction. We should be in each otherâs arms tonight.â
You felt utterly ravenous while getting out of your car. Both of you hurried up the steps to your door all the while he had his hands on you. He was grabbing your ass and licking hot breaths down your neck by the time you got the door open. He pulled you in through the door and harshly connected his teeth to your lips. You stumbled backward into your living room trying desperately not to fall as he pried his tongue into your mouth. The kiss was rough and demanding, but it felt oh so good, you couldnât help but oblige.
When your foot hits the couch, you let go of the kiss. You fall, breathless, onto the couch. Not wanting to leave your mouth for too long, Havik follows suit. He heavily makes out with you to the best of his ability. It doesnât matter that he doesnât have lips, you still love it either way.
You shift your weight so you can push him down to be underneath you. Straddling him, you go in for one final kiss. You make quick work of his shirt admiring all of his muscles and scars. You were curious how he got so many, but you were preoccupied at the moment. You suck kisses into his tattered jaw line slowly making your way down his body.
Kissing from his gullet to his navel, you finally look up to see the bold red kiss prints. You peer your eyes up at Havik with passionate eyes, and he canât help but be desperate for more. You fiddle with the buckle on his belt trying to get his pants off. You finally get the zipper down and relieve some of the pressure on his tented bulge. Eyes widened in shock as you realize he wasnât wearing any underwear. The look you gave was pure lust as you licked your lips in anticipation.
You grab the base of him and licked a long stripe up his shaft. He shivered while entangling his hand into your hair. You drag your tongue across the tip teasing him. He groans as you move your attention to his slit. You decide to throw caution to the wind and drop all the way onto him. His fist tightens in your hair making you moan around his cock.
You bob your head up and down with fervor. You want to be the sole reason this man comes undone tonight. After a few minutes your mouth is covered in your own saliva and his pre-release. He tried to wrap one of his legs around your back but you held his legs open in place. The tighter his hand became you knew he was getting closer to his release.
You suctioned your throat more and started humming around him. The vibrations went straight through him and up his spine. He simply couldnât hold on anymore. He grabbed the back of your head and shoved you all the way down on him as he came down your throat. You gagged as you hadnât taken this much before. All you could do was swallow his release as best as you could as tears welled up in your eyes.
After holding you on him as he rode out his orgasm, he finally released you. You gasp for a deep breath as you feel what was left of him dripping down your mouth. Your makeup was smudged. Not worse than your lipstick which was smeared all over his thick cock. You let out a chuckle as you noticed his dazed expression. He pulls you down to him for another sloppy kiss. He could taste himself on you. He pulled away breathless as he swiped a finger up your chin, gathering himself on it. He brings it up to your lips and you make a show of sucking his finger clean.
âSlow it down now, the night is young and we still got time.â
You yourself couldnât help but get turned on at the animalistic growl he let out. It excited you, and you could feel yourself grow wetter by the second. You sit up more to straddle him once again and grind down on his spent self. He raised his hand up to grope your breasts and almost ripped your shirt off to release them. He took one into his teeth and the other one in between his fingers, pinching at the soft flesh.
The way he covers you in bite marks felt like bliss. Wanting more, you grip his hair tightly and pull it back. You can see the spit dripping from his mouth. Biting your lip lightly, you lean in to whisper in his ear, âWhy donât we take this back to my room?â He groans into your ear making you grind back down on his half-hardened length. âWhatâs the rush? Weâre having such a good time right here arenât we?â You do love a challenge to your command. âCall me crazy, but damn Iâd like to get inside of your mind.â âOh baby, youâve been in my mind since I saw you.â
âBut you donât have the patience for the smallest conversation that would let me know the trouble ahead.â
âWhatâs the real reason you wanted fun tonight?â He grins at you while softly dragging his hands up and down your thighs. Now is not the time for small talk, youâre too hungry. You just grab him âround the neck and push your skirt against his jeans and say âI like to do my talking in bed.â You firmly grasp his throat. Seeing the positive reaction from him made you all the more impatient to get him into bed.
You push off of him and make your way to your bedroom. You wiggle your ass enticingly and start to undo your skirt and take off your shoes. He looks at you with animal attraction and quickly follows your lead, dropping his jeans as he goes. You make it to your door and turn around just in time to see him grab at you, just as he did earlier. You said âDim the lights if you want some action.â And your command was followed. He turned down the lights until only the glimmer from your vanity mirror could be seen.
He tried to talk more but You told him âKeep your life story to yourself, let me show you how itâs supposed to be.â You told him âWhy are we sitting here wasting time we could be underneath the sheets.â You told him âI donât wanna be your friend, sorry if you're feeling hurt.â You sit back onto the bed and spread your legs to reveal your lace panties behind your fishnets. You told him âBaby you can shut up now, let me put that mouth to work.â
His gaze immediately falls to your clothed heat, he got the memo. He knelt down on the ground before you and ripped your fishnets to get immediate access to his goal. He rubbed his two fingers on your slit, making his way up to your clit. He gently teethed at your thigh in contrast to the way he tore your panties off. You gasp out at the sudden gust of cool air.
He gave you no time to react any farther as he attached his tongue to your slit. For having no lips, you dare say his enthusiasm makes up for it. The sounds he makes while slurping your dripping cunt are downright filthy. You throw your head back and your fingers into his hair. He inserts his finger into you while licking stripes and rubbing circles on your clit. You can stand the pleasure any longer. You push his face down farther into your pussy and cum all over his face.
As much as he needed to breathe, this was simply better. He felt himself grow impossibly hard at the feeling of your thighs crushing his face. He rutted into the floor to get some friction on himself. When you unclenched your legs, the sight before you was like heaven itself. Havikâs face is covered in your sweet release. You grab his chin and he almost falls into your grasp as you pull him up from the ground into a messy kiss. He had so much to say but only landed on âWe should be in each otherâs arms tonight.â
You shoved him down on the bed and grinded your soaked pussy on his rock hard cock. You could see how much he wanted you. It almost rivaled how much you wanted him in that moment. You simply said âThis could be so dirty that it just ainât right.â As you dropped down on him.
