Why did this make me laugh so much...
Can we like, not sexualise woman for just a moment??
Props to my bestie for saying it in the first place X
Ok, so a few games ago I had this really good Mercy/Ana game. It's usually pretty standard for me to play attack Mercy and defence Ana or Kiriko, and like normal I played Mercy on attack and picked Ana for defence. Then this little message pops into chat,
And I'm thinking oh boy, what kind of situation is this? I don't know about any of you lot, but I really hate being asked or told what character to play. Although the message didn't, you know, feel demanding it still rubbed the wrong way and I didn't switch until we were at the last point and needed Mercy.
Then he puts this in at the start of the third round. I don't really know what to say at this point, but it's really pissing me off that he's implying that I have to play Mercy 24/7. Plus he literally had half my healing at this point in the game, and if there was a lack in healing it was down to him. I think I had 16k at this point and he had 8k.
Also his excuse that he 'dies' a lot is so rubbish, because it's obviously his fault for being out of position and trying to dps and get kills so much. This sc is from a little later in the game, but as you can see the difference between our heals is just getting bigger. Also, here's an example of what I mean when he's out of position. Watch the Illari:
Completely out of position as Illair lol, then blames his lack of heals on his number of deaths. Like, hm, I wander why. I just couldn't be assed to type out 'stay in position then' in chat because they're obviously not gonna listen.
The rest of the game was pretty close so I stayed on Mercy for round 4 as well, and my guy has the audacity to say GG Mercy at the end of the game. Like bro,
I got 11k more heals than you, it's a bit more than GG.
Anyway, there isn't really a point to this post, just me complaining and being confused on how to feel because it felt like he was complementing my Mercy gameplay but also complaining at me all at once.
The like of a Mercy main :,)
There's a time and there's a place for certain things
Just played a round of legendary death from above underworld and our soldier decides that he wants to get the lore achievement on legendary mode?
Like there's a time and a place my dude, and that's normal mode not legendary.
Underworld Event
1 day left and haven't even complete even one modifier on legendary. There's no hope ðŸ«
Find a group feature
Ok, so I've been on holiday in Malta the last 10 days, which means I've missed out on a large portion of event play time for the Underworld event. That means I have some serious grinding to do for achievements. I managed to complete every challenge except the legendary modifier one (so far, fingers crossed).
It's time like this when I really miss the find a group feature from overwatch 1. People who played the archives event on legendary mode know that the best chance you get at winning and earning the achievements is by searching specifically for a group, then using pre-designed tactics to make it though.
It's the only way I ever got those achievements, but since they've removed the find a group feature in Overwatch 2, they've somehow indirectly made these legendary missions even harder ðŸ«
Ok, I'm currently engaged with researching as much as I can about Overwatch Lore ever since the new PVE missions came out because, I just gotta know everything, you know?
I was looking at the Talon wiki page and going through the members and the commanding staff, yada, yada, yada, and I scroll down to the gallery, and I see... an atrocity.
I LOVE the achieves event, right. It's my favourite event since it always came out around my birthday, and PVE is just so fine. I remember playing Retribution when it first came out, and man, where those missions good. The enemies were great, they had unique designs and made combat interesting.
The assassin was my favourite because it nodded to Genji's original design ideas, and found a way to still incorporate it into the game.
Basically, the Talon forces in Retribution and Storm Rising followed as such:
You had your grunts, your standard cannon fodder and really easy to kill. The only thing that irritating about them is the amount of health they gain in Expert and Legendary.
Then you had the enforcers, who had slower attack patterns but did more damage. You gotta be real careful of their attack when it gets to Expert and Legendary, because they can one shot you.
Then there was the sniper, who would spawn in with a small cutscene initially, and then had a tracking laser that followed the person they were targeting. Fairly easy to take out in the Easy - Hard difficulties, and then slightly more difficult in the Expert and Legendary versions. Because, like Widow, Headshots can kill in one shot.
Then there's the assassin, which like I said before, is a nod to some design concepts initially discussed for Genji. The assassin, like the sniper, would initially spawn in a small cutscene when they're first introduced in the mission. Then they would leap from wall to wall, before selecting a target and running across the ground towards them to slash them. Usually, whatever difficulty, it's a one attack, one kill kind of thing, but she's the easiest to avoid and the easiest to kill in my opinion.
Then there was the heavy assault unit. Man, where those things nightmares. Massive hulks of men, with two giant mini guns (or whatever they are) attached to their arms, and giving off a constant stream of fire. People literally designed routes and patterns for the achieves mission so that there was a possible way to destroy these monsters in Expert and Legendary. Not to mention the ungodly amount of them Blizzard throw at you.
Here's a photo for reference :P
So, here I am, looking at this photo reminiscing, because IT'S BEEN THREE YEARS SINCE WE HAD ARCHIEVES BLIZZARD! Then I click onto the next slide and oh God...
What is this travesty?
Who... are you? What happened to the Enforcers? To the Assassin? Why do the grunts look so... flaccid... and why does the Heavy assault look like a bad imitation of Winston? He looks smaller and not as intimidating as well... And the sniper... I could have physically cried when I saw this. The sniper in overwatch 1 was so sick! But now... well... now she looks like a shoddy imitation of Widow.
Petition for the return of Jeff Kaplan? </3
(I feel like I might have gotten too carried away over the Talon enemy models, but then again. Maybe I didn't).
Nothing like making the enemy team rage quit!
Satisfying Sombra pick :)
I am a slut for one thing and one thing only. Overwatch LORE. It's probably the only reason I'm so invested in the game still (that's a lie, I would still find a way to love Overwatch). I eat that shit up. There's nothing more satisfying that getting another titbit of Overwatch Lore and nodding to yourself, like yes, yes, I definitely understand the relevance of this important piece of information.
I will never fangirl harder than when new animated shorts are released as well.
Had such a positive game earlier. I was queuing DPS and was in the widow mood. We were attacking first on Rio, and being the sane person I am, I did not autolock widow and instead went for the Reaper choice. I honestly wasn't playing well, it was later in the day and I was tired and all my good plays have been drained out of me at this point. I was seriously behind out other DPS in kills and damage, but we still managed to take the point. I switched to Widow after that, since it's easier to attack as Widow after capping the point. I played a bit better on the character I wanted to play, but I was still behind our other DPS. We pushed the payload almost right up till the end, but we were just shy of the third point.
I thought I was going to get flamed for throwing, and I wouldn't have blamed them, but they didn't flame me at all. In fact they were super nice and everyone was saying 'Gr' and 'Wp' in the chat. Even when it is my fault if we lose a game, it's still not nice to have that thrust in your face, so to see such enthusiasm really made my day. It's not often you get nice players.
I switched between Ashe and Widow on defence, and actually managed to catch up with the other DPS a bit, and we ended up winning the game.
Kindness and praise always does so much more than blaming someone in my opinion. It's called moral for a reason.
When OW2 came out, it took me a while to adjust to push maps, but over time I got used to them and learned how to play healer well on them. They're now some of my favourite maps to play Mercy on.
BUT what really makes the push maps is obviously TS-1, (I expect a TS-1 pop blizzard!) and his adorable voice lines. Bless his little heart, when the point is being contested for a period of time he'll say something like "conflicting orders" or "please resolve your debate"! He's such an honest to go sweetheart.
Honestly, I've heard a lot of mixed opinions concerning the flash point maps. Personally, me and my duo partner severally dislike them and would instead like 2cp back. The maps are too large and the spawn points too far from the points, in my opinion at least. The momentum of the games is lopsided as well. You can be stomping the enemy team one moment, and then the next they're destroying you somehow. There's too many directions to be attacked from and not enough defence without a second tank, and there's no one or two chokes to work with. They're so unlike the rest of the maps, I often find myself turning in circles trying to figure out which door the enemy is going to come out of. The whole flash aspect is badly implement as well, you could be at 99%/99% each and the map will suddenly move on, and then it's a mad rush to get to the point. Plus, if you're not moving as a team, it's highly likely stranglers will be picked off and only half the team makes it. It doesn't have the familiar structure that I'm used to with the rest of the maps, and it throws me off. It feels more like a battle royal than an overwatch game.
Plus why are these maps already in competitive before people have learned them!?
Again, this is just my opinion and my experience with them.
That's it. That's the post.
Ok, so this game was a doozy. I load in, and we're playing competitive mystery heroes, I got Tracer. Then, the question, 'Ass or Titts?" pops into chat from someone on my team. Thankfully, I'm relieved from finding out everyone's answers because no-one does answer.
We cap the first point, and honestly I was throwing accidentally just a teeny tiny bit, because I only managed to steal 3 kills from our Hammy and wrack up a staggering total of 162 damage. BUT our Reaper was absolutely slaying, and popped off with a 4k, making someone from the opposite team leave. Naturally, we win the first point.
Second point loads in and first thing I see is, "I hate this game. GG." From the opposite team. Then the same guy who asked the ass or tits question replies, "Nah Cmon bro pull it back."
Spoiler alert. They did not pull it back. Over the course of the second round they got two more leavers... and then the first leaver joined back... Which I found entirely hilarious and a taste of his own medicine. The person who said GG, then proceeded to say, "I'm gonna K ms." Which bless them, they were the only one doing work on their team. They definitely deserved an obligatory win.
Needles to say, we won the game.
I don't usually spend much time queuing in overwatch 2, which I kinda miss ngl. I used to get so much done between queues in Overwatch 1. Besides the point though. The DPS queue was looking a little longer so I decided to take a gander at the custom games, since me and my duo partner are old 'the floor is lava' and 'murder mystery' pros (you don't get gems like those anymore...). To my horror, the first thing that pops up on the custom games menu is, and I quote, 'Sexual Harassment Simulator'????? Like what the actual fuck?? I knew overwatch was far gone, but this far? I am honestly terrified of overwatch men in more ways than one.
Healer Gripe -
When a Tank or DPS runs around a corner, away from you or out of your line of sight, and you desperately try to keep up with them and not die. Then when they inevitably die, they SPAM THANKS.
Like sir, please use your brain and stop blaming me...
Literally THE GAME AFTER my last post, I roll into this game, queued as support, and straight out of the door, this guy pops into the chat and says, "U may be noonespecial but ur special to Danthe2nd."
Of course since this is Overwatch so Noonespecial responds with the original "Fk U Dan."
Then the game begins and Noonespeical (Our second support on Zen) immediately gets annihilated by Danthe2nd (Opposite DPS). A second later, "Jk ily." Pops into the chat. We're losing at this point, but I couldn't care less because this is the funniest thing that's happened to me all day.
A few moments later, UnusedTuktuk (Who was speaking on behalf of Danthe2nd) replies and says, "He says he's scared of affection". To which Noonespecial replies with a "<3." Then, "Sorry friend."
Which at this point, I'm disappointed, please entertain us, don't apologise. We finish the first round with them taking the point, and load into the second point. Noonespecial put's a ":'(" in the chat because he's been aired by Danthe2nd, and then JUST AS THE ROUND BEGINS he gets a reply of, "He likes feet kicking him."
Needless to say, there was no more conversation after that, and I'm sure the rest of the players felt just as awkward as I. Who's to actually know if this UnusedTuktuk was actually communicating for Danthe2nd, or if poor, unassuming Danthe2nd was suddenly labelled with a foot fetish by strangers; or if he actually does have a foot fetish. Danthe2nd never actually said anything during the exchange himself, so I guess we'll never know.
We lost the game, as well :(
Played a game this morning, where I was switching between Anna and Mercy, I had around 15k heals by the end of the game and our second support was maybe 10-13k? I wasn't really paying attention to their heals. Our tank was you know... slightly unaware like most tanks are, but they were doing all right when they remembered to stay with the team, and on defence they were smashing it. Our Junkrat was pulling it out of the bag and popping off, but what was our other DPS? I literally can't tell you... they did so little and were so unmemorable that I can't even remember what hero they were playing. The opposite team had this literal god widow as well, and I was having to play super carefully because as soon as I peaked, I would get killed. The Junkrat was super on it when he could and killed the widow a handful of time, but our other dps really let the team down, and in the end because he couldn't kill the widow, she picked off both of us supports and we lost the game.
Basically, Overwatch 2 broke Overwatch players and it's feels like every single game I play there's something:
a. to complain about
b. to laugh about
or
c. to be surprised by
I also love delving into Overwatch Lore and picking apart the inconsistencies, and I can and will ramble for hours about it (ask my duo).
I'm gonna put it out there, I play Overwatch casually and I've been around since the first new years event so I've seen stuff. I'm not the best player ever and I'm high gold/low plat depending on how well I've done in the season. This is all MY OPINION!
