From Cozy Games Direct and Future of Play, to X-box Showcase and PC Gaming Show, everyone from big and small has indeed been informed about summer, and that there are games to be had durning it STAT.
And whew there were alot of announcements, just look at the website.
In our usual fashion it would too long to list every single game that was mentioned, so instead what of the games that looked really hecking cool?
Fredriks choice: SCHiM (by Ewoud van der Werf and Nils Slijkerman)
You play as a silly creature, hopping and puzzling thorugh shadows in a city. Human shadows, car shadows lamps shadows, anything is permitted. And it looks great to boot! Its coming out this year july for all Major consoles + Steam.
Karols choice Battle Suit Aces (by Trinket Studios)
Cooked up by the same developers as Battle Chef Academy (great game give it a go), this sci-fi card battler has style, worldbuilding and even features relationships with your crew! Not the genre im usually into but i believe in these devs. Release is TBD as of yet.
And our shared pick would be Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (by Sandfall Interactive)
Ever since the Paintress arrived, each year she paints a new number: 35..34...33. As she counts down people of that age vanish never to be seen again. Its up to our epxedition (the 33) to give a shot at stopping the paintress in their final year of life. RPG with QTE's in a wonderfully parisian inspired world. Also what a cool premise! To be released sometime in 2025.
We actually picked more games, but for that you would have been a long list.
You have to check rest of the episode for that ;) ta-ta for now!
Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality the orchestra
On today's menu, the original Fantasia all the way back from 1940. Frankly its good! Disney put their whole disnussy into making each segment disctinct and visually interesting.
But how do they fare against each other?
Don't get me wrong, the segments are each their own thing, but with a runtime of 2h there is only so much attention you can hold. The orchestra is phenomenal and will also lull you into sleep (or trance state which honestly might have been the intention as well?) So what shoul you be awake for?
There are bound to be some hits and misses (Sorcerers Apprentice being quite good even today) so lets go through them all.
I would have also included a gif of my best boy Sountrack, but you can guess how hard is to google for him. He is in my heart at least
Rinako i would do anything for you my oshi
(this is such a fun gag)
Jack it into my veins babyy!!!!
This site: What the fuck is with all these animated shows getting terrible live-action remakes? We should start remaking live action media as cartoons to balance the scales.
The monkey's paw: *curls one finger*
Its time to discuss the potential future of Kingdom Hearts! Or well.... bluesky our own wishes and make up interpretations of the teasers we had so far.
With the reveal of fictional worlds is any of this for real? Or not? What about Verum Rex? Whill KH become FF15? What is the Ancient Keyblade legacy anyway? And whats in the box Scott Cawthon Nomura???
And also! This episode that made me redownload KH Unchained X/Dark Road.
KH X: good! Love having access to all accesories with none of the grind. Super easy to go through cutscenes, but you might fall out of order like in Wreck in Ralph world (since some of the scenes take place in different worlds).
Dark Road: Interesting start, but the grind is unbeliveably terrible. I dont want to keep cheking my phone if i got knocked out or not. I guess i am not the audience for idle games so its cutscenes on youtube for me (ʘᴥʘ).
A whole new world game A new fantastic point of view No one to tell us no Or where to go Or say we're only dreaming
Kingdom Hearts 3 has been out for a while already, but that will not deter us about talking bout it. We are trendsetters like that ^_+
So what is KH3? What we are documenting today is:
The Worlds The Gameplay - Summons - Rides - Party Members The Villains The Plot And our overall enjoyement of course.
That is if i can contain myself from talking about end game spoilers in the earlier sections of the video. Im luckly to have Fredrik to rein me in.
the new contrapoints video is just *mwah* chefs kiss. And to think Twilight my beloved started it
I missed contrapoints so much
Today we dive into the agonizing wait between the announcement and the eventual release of KH3.
Fredrik - our resident expert in field- has catalouged all the announcements and promos in a chronological order, including the likes of:
Developer interviews with Nomura over the years
Information from various E3 and events before release.
Timeline of remasters and new spin off titles like DDD and KHuX
Release of new themes / banging tunes
and more!
Plus we do like the series, like a lot, so we also talk about what excites us about the franchise. Give it a listen!
Wake the f**k up, Spartan! We have a city to save.
How did the folks imagine our action packed future back in 1993? Look no futher than Demolition Man, all the way back from 1997!
Its funny how the distant 2032 is only 8 years away. Sheesh :(
Anyway i felt the need for some adrenaline kicks, so a Sylvester Stallone flick was in order. Is fun to count in how many ways some of the things came in fact true: like AI, self driving cars, or sanitization of online and irl spaces. Also while we dont have full dive in neura links yet, our VR guys are working overtime on it, Yippie!
It's not entirely dystopian for us yet, so what is this movie trying to tell us? What steps can we take to stop this grim future from becoming true? Liberty babes, as in how much we are willing to part with it for convinience. oof.
Last but not least: everyone in this movie is so dang pretty, i loved Huxley and John Spartan can giiit ittt
Why yes it is a smash and pass episode, but with a twist!
Given the relationship building nature of the game, Fredrik decided to throw in a challenge where we try to pair off characters and give our reasons behind them. Its especially fun given how we clash on some of each others pairs.
As a last hurrah to the shows of yesteryear, we decided to sit down and pin down our favourite media from 2023.
The categories are as follows:
Song
Video game
Tv-show
Anime /Manga
Movie
Its a good exercise i in my opinion! You get to look back on what things you found time for to enjoy, and compare the positives and negatives - it makes so that each tv show or manga sticks longer in your memory.
Its funny we didnt add podcasts to our list, since i personally got to enjoy so many this year. Maybe a sugestion for 2024? Who knows :P
And for an addendum, Pikmin 4 kicks ass and would have definetly made the list if i had spent more time on it. Fredrik has already 100% it as well hahah.
for a change of pace, below is the link to the ep on Spotify:
if i asked Fredrik to play Monster of the Week with me would he agree hmmmmm
We are finally back to playing Dungeons and Dragons!!! WOO!!
This week Karol finally finished editing ep 2 of our Adventure- So its finally out for you all to enjoy.
But what is this you ask? Well with me as a DM, its about Amor (Fredrik) our elven rouge who sets forth to Rothe River in for news of gems with untold powers. What seemed as an easy job exterminating local beasts though quickly spirals out, and only thanks to her dragon companion Voltar she lives to tell the tale.
Its fun, its silly and you get to hear me do a bunch of voices. And Fredrik does a great job as an off beat snobby elf!
ALSO!
Our thanks to:
kasoon.com - for the adventure! At this point its derailed (because of what happened in the last episode ) but its great for anyone to try with a pal. I was afraid of balancing encounters for one PC only, hence why the decision to follow this outline.
Thanks to @gaylactic-fire for allowing us to use their picrew Baby Dragon Maker for Voltar. I sadly lack artistic talent to draw a dragon, but now he is so cute. Thank you!
And at last: a youtube version with visuals, maps and puzzles. This time by me.
We are back to making the mostest difficultest decisionests to ever decision - Fredrik made us a new questionnaire with 2 choices each, most of them about on the topics we spoke about throughout the year.
So what to expect?
Lestat or Louis?
Major or Batou ?
Katy Perry or Taylor Swift?
Frosted or unfrosted flakes?
And more! As alyways below is a version with added visuals for your convinience:
So today we sat down and tried to discuss our new years resolutions. Turns out - You aren't legally required to do any of that lmao, at least according to Fredrik.
I think i have to agree with him, even if each year i worry about all the things i would like to change in my life. Its ok to want change, but accepting yourself might be a much better and kinder alternative. That and we also want to go kayaking.
Want more context? Then listen to the episode you nosy nosy you!
Also, this one ep. might be more on a personal side, as probably not the best idea to vent your insecurities on air. But! I think you can kinda see how both of us operate when the topic at hand a tad more serious.
I guess New year resolutions kinda have that vibe to them, you look at yourself and its easy to see yourself in a negative light. Well.. what can you do? hahaha.
With 2023 drawing to a close, We wanted to wish you all the happiness and luck in the upocoming year, and to thank all our listeners for sticking with us througout the year.
Happy New Year 2024!!
oh and of course, a link to youtube for a version with slides!
Its that time of year again.
Chrimbus, Chrysler, Crabapple.
Whatever you might call Cramorant, its here and we will talk about it!
How much should you reasonably spend on a gift?
Whats is so darm appealing about an unwrapped present?
How much does christmas feel religious from person to person?
Why pastoral visits are a scam?
On a personal note, this year is kind of funny actually. Usually my family is running at 150% capacity trying to prepare everything for the christmas dinner - but my brother is the one organizing the Christmas party for his fiances side of the family, so i get to enjoy the wonderful decorations made by my mom totally unbothered.
Maybe this is what Christmas is all about? Cute vibes and relaxation? I might be onto something here.
As always, link to the ep on youtube with visuals by Fredrik!
A top ten, but only one of us knows what he is talking about.
So basically we have this handy dandy selection of marketable goobers below (Curtesy of Fredrik), and today decided to talk about which ones are *objectively* *most definetly* *surely* the best and most recognizeable.
Quite a selection tight?
So what are the criteria?
How iconic are they?
How good are the games?
Would your mom recognize this character?
Also link to our episode on youtube, with our top 10 picks!
Riverdale Rivervale, or the one where we talk about Jughead.
Well sort of! Today we start with a little help of movieweb - a handy dandy list of some of the events and plotlines from the show run. Since we did hear about the show but havent seen it yet - I gather if we read up on what the show could offer it could entice us and you guys to give it a a watch! So that is the plan!
if anything i might have to watch it for cheryl alone, her being a queen of bees and usurping her mother as a cult leader? Slay. Also how can i pass on a Dnd devil monster and the serial killer gene what.
Also some of the lines can be ..... that, but the cast consistently delivers on their performances. Like even here Madelaine Petsch eats it up even with how silly it all is.
And last but not least, link to our ep on youtubes since it comes with cools slides by Fredrik!
Set sails to barboard! or starboard! dry the anchor and hoist the mast!
Honestly we don't know much about sailing or pirates, but we will still discuss the Live action adaptation of One Piece. Apparently it rocks (the boat!)!
Also apologies, because this is the episode where we talk about How i Met your Father, not the previous ones. I was just really giddy to talk about the show alright 😉
And lastly, Wizard of Oz. Truly a grab bag of topics, but lets not forget the awful treatment the actors on that set withstood while making this movie. Abhorrent and perhaps maybe not worth it..?
⛵🌊🌊
Youtube link with slides!
there is something very beautiful about the irresistible human desire to create
The gang has split and moved on from their mystery hunting days, but when a new opportunity presents itself the scooby gang is trust back into action - but this time danger may be in fact be more real than not. Also look at this Daphne she is so cool!!
Imo a pretty good movie perfect for a seasonal watch. The setting is wonderful and even with nostalgia glasses off it holds up!
On another note, im usually only linking our Spotify, but we do host it on youtube with slides!
This week on the pod!
We are back to discussing things dear to our heart, like the newly released Lies of P ( which is suprisingly good!), How DLC and MMO's could fall to the wayside with sunsetting of online services, and the amazing How i Met your Father and its abundant girlfailure energy.
Last week on the podcast?
This might be a bit of a hell of our own creation, but today we expose how much Karol actually know about movies. Him a normal movie enjoyerTM its probably less than you'd expect, so tune in as Fredrik devilishly grills his co-host with facts stills and tidbits of cinema info!
by the way, it’s real bold of hollywood to be like “the writers and actors have unrealistic expectations, but WE know what we’re doing” when they got tricked into releasing morbius in theaters a second time.
Good day good folks of the future, past Karol here stuck futher and further away from the moment you are reading this announcement. Im happy to say we have a new episode about a futuristic show that is back from the dead!
Fredrik is really enjoying Futurama at the moment, so what better way to celebrate the renewal than dive into it .
