hello i would die for soriku
Ser Harwin wishes to be introduced to Joffrey.
So recently I saw this video post by about the Christian symbolism in FFXV. It was a nice rundown of how the game tries to integrate Christian art, architecture, themes, and stories into the world of Final Fantasy. However, I personally do not agree that this game does a good job of showing the nuance in the struggle of someone tested by faith. It’s too bad this game did not follow in the footsteps of FFX and chose to criticise an established religious hierarchy, because FFXV’s version of Christianity gives me much to criticise. This game uses all the Christian symbolism the video points out while carrying none of the actual messages of Christianity - just like Neon Genesis Evangelion. It’s fake deep. Actually, it’s worse than fake deep. It’s actually anti-Christian sometimes.
I’m not a theologian. I am barely a Christian. But I have some serious reservations about lauding this game for the way it handles religion.
To make it clear, I am not insulting Ikkin’s video post in any way. I linked it because it was really interesting and useful, and you might not understand this meta post without it. (I’m citing my sources, in other words.) All of my criticism is directed at the game itself. Other disclaimer: I’m a fan of the game and I had fun playing it. I have some reservations about posting this because it’s around 6,000 words long and a bit of an off-beat topic, plus I’m pretty salty about it. But it was important to me, as you will see.

“that’s not fair beast! don’t take it out on belle!”
— reasons why i love sora #8348 the beast was taking his anger out on belle and the second it looked like it was going to get physical, sora jumps in front of belle and protects her. donald and goofy are also in the room, but they still stayed in the back. sora’s a 15 year old child, but still felt alarmed by the beast’s actions and had enough sense to realize that what beast was doing was wrong. even when belle felt like it was her fault and guilty about the situation: he tells her that she did nothing wrong, there’s no need for her to apologize. sora was so pissed off at the beast, not only for doubting a significant other and believing a complete stranger’s words over hers, but for taking his anger out on belle and potentially could’ve physically hurt her. sora wasn’t having any of the beast’s shit and damn this boy was raised right.
