i find it annoying as hell when people are like:

‘well the book’s been out for two-hundred years, and has an adaptation made sixty years ago, so you should already know the plot and i am therefore allowed to spoil it!’

wtf??? like, sorry i wasn’t born when the book was just published and grab a copy to read for myself, but that still doesn’t mean you get the right to spoil it!
