i still like to interpret that kirby has a blank expression when magolor reveals his plans not because kirby is stupid or anything, but because he's genuinely confused. magolor is a friend, right? why would he turn scary and say all these weird, evil things?
strictly speaking, kirby never experienced something like this before. you can argue marx, but, from what we definitively know without any headcanons involved, they weren't really friends? marx was just some guy that asked kirby to do A Thing. kirby actually bonded with magolor. magolor gave him gifts (via minigames and challenge stages). why would he suddenly turn against him and his other friends?
he does not understand. he might be thinking at this very moment, that it's some kind of weird joke magolor is pulling.
i think it would be very easy to retcon this bit as yet another case of underwhelming animation in pre-rendered cutscenes in the original game, kirby was shown many times since original rtdl to be shocked if he saw something appropriately shocking, yet, HAL decided to keep it up as is, and even made it so magolor mentions it as something that got under his skin. i think it's important.
