I made a corbel design inspired by In Stars and Time. ^u^ Gonna go see if I can't get a few laser cut at my library's makers space.

Shadow Snufkin/Joxter AU

Winters shadow (joxter): he is a shadowy figure that walks with the cold and snowy weather. Only his eyes and sillouette are visible, making him hard to see. Usually he stays in woodland areas barely ever in open plains. Rumors and tales say that whatever creature sees him something bad would occur. He is able to hear and see what others cannot, unable to be injured, and he is able to predict when an event is about to happen to the creature that crosses his path, it's best to avoid them as he is an omen of bad luck. It is unknown when he has been around or how he came to be and only a handful have encountered him but many are afraid of him.

Springs shadow (snufkin): most assumed only one shadow has walked among a season, he is mistaken for Winters shadow often as he is a shadowy figure but still shows color. Every spring, creatures from all over are able to hear his music whether near or far. He comes around every spring but sticks around until the middle of fall. Only a small few has encountered or even seen him but to those who have, he would tell them a story that relates to a situation they would face sometime after meeting him. nothing terrible has happened when seeing him yet many still are wary. moomintroll being the only creature to be trusting of him thus far.

Moomintroll is enthralled by snufkin, not knowing much about him but still waits for him every spring. Every year spent with snufkin, he ends up falling in love with the shadow. He tells his friends and family about snufkin but no one believes him but he doesn't care.

Ceasefire reportedly agreed, including a prisoner exchange and aid surge, after more than 460 days of conflict.

Some of my initial takeaways are:

this ceasefire is temporary (as of right now, six weeks long). negotiations will continue but israel is not offering guarantees about continued non-violence. BDS remains important. be vigilant, keep pressure up

rafah crossing will open one week after the initial phase starts

israel will release 2000 prisoners

more aid will get to northern gaza, look out for ways you can help

if the second phase is initiated, israel will do a complete withdrawal from gaza. which means the initial phase will not include that. again i say: BE VIGILANT

if the third phase is reached, reconstruction will begin "under international supervision"

nothing is over, even if this is a relief. do not tap out, do not tune out.

thinking about how self-loathing is the core of siffrin's character. so much of siffrin's issues revolve around thinking that there is something inherently, fundamentally wrong with themself. they're disgusting, terrible, a fraud. people only love siffrin because they don't know the truth. but when they do, they'll surely hate siffrin. they'll surely leave siffrin. they'll realize that siffrin is not, and never was, worthy of their time or attention or love. it's only a matter of time.

but then loop is confronted with an alternate version of themself. and they act like a jerk sometimes, but they also show so much genuine care for siffrin's wellbeing. they try to tell siffrin to let go of the things that hurt him, they try to talk siffrin out of doing things he'll regret, they get mad on siffrin's behalf when he's wronged by others. when siffrin is in need of help, they push aside their personal reservations and hurt and complicated feelings about seeing their friends again to do what is necessary to get siffrin that help he needs.

and siffrin, though they find loop annoying, is fond of them. they care about loop deeply and see loop as someone important to them. when asked by loop to kill them, he laughs and says he doesn't hate himself so much that he would literally kill another version of him. finding out that loop was themself all along doesn't make them think any more negatively of loop. it doesn't change how he feels about them. loop is loop. they are siffrin, and they are siffrin's friend.

there's something about looking at yourself from an outsider's perspective, and not feeling any of that instinctual disgust that so often follows you everywhere you go. seeing yourself as what you are, a person. as someone who is flawed, and being able to recognize that those flaws don't make you irredeemable. realizing that you aren't as terrible as you thought you were. and that despite everything, you are deserving of love. because the proof is right in front of you.

Do you ever wish you could beat into a character's head that they're loved? Because I sure wanted to beat Siffrin during my first playthrough of In Stars and Time. Then I thought about that figure of speech too literally, laughed at my own joke, and now here's me using Odile as a proxy to do just that. :)

I absolutely adore Odile's "you will be safe and happy and that is a threat" approach to emotional support. Her and Siffrin's dynamic in general is just chef's kiss.

Sorry about your hat, Siffrin, but it was destroying my panel composition when I tried to put it on your head.

For being rusty with art I'm really happy with this! That last panel in particular was very new territory for me but I think it came out good! I'm happy with the movement between panels in general. And look at me! Drawing backgrounds!! Wahoo!!

I drew these panels incredibly out of order, so you can see my art style and amount of effort fade in and out as you read, lmao. I tried to stay authentic to the game's style, but sort of gave up and let my style bleed through on the action-y panels. It just felt right. Gives it emphasis. :P

I'm new to writing screen reader image alt text, so feedback is welcomed. Sorry again to Siffrin because I forced myself to he/him them only to avoid confusion, but it felt bad! My fellow they/he, I have wronged you.

Time spent working on this comic was...... 33 hours and 18 minutes. I blame the rust, learning how to draw these characters on the fly, and figuring out the perspective on those bricks, oh my god.
