As a writer whose default is dialogue, kudos right back to writers who use more description and such. Y'all put so much detail into your works and I love it, wish I could explain what I visualize as well as you guys do
kudos to writers with dialogue-heavy works, I got mad respect for y'all. love using dialogue as a tool, but my default settings are non-verbal (dialogue) and non-stop yapping (description).
I don't normally post about having DID and that prob won't change but there's something so funny about being an alter who doesn't write as much/isn't as good at it and fronting not long after one who LOVES writing. What do you mean someone in my brain wrote several thousand words and spent a week figuring out how to work a new character into the main story. I'm reading what he wrote and I'm actually upset he didn't get to finish writing the last part. Come back, little writer man, control these hands we share and continue your story so I can pretend I know peace
Update I'm writing it down. I cannot stop thinking about it and if I don't write it down I may explode
It's also a Durgetash focused fic because this ship has taken me in a chokehold more than any ship ever previously has
Oh no this isn't writer's block, I have an entire detailed alternate ending story with detailed dialogue and plot points that have been edited into being cohesive. However this is my bedtime story in which I mentally act it out until I inevitably fall asleep, acting as though I'm falling asleep in my MC's love interest's arms. I exclusively think of this story between the hours of midnight and 4am
"You're supposed to be dead" was all that came out, but there were many more thoughts racing through Durge's head
How was he alive? How long had he been alive? And, oh no, why did he almost feel relieved.
Gortash was decomposed, nothing like his usual self as he rushed to explain. Durge stood still, arms crossed as he stared at Gortash
In truth, the words weren't processing in their mind. They were too preoccupied by the internal conflict, knowing this man was a threat but being glad his death had only been temporary
At some point Gortash stopped talking. Durge said nothing, they couldn't when none of the explanation had stuck
The two stared at each other, unspoken emotions dancing behind each of their eyes
"Durge?"
Finally, Durge spoke again, tone light; "I'm glad I can kill you myself"
Imagine this:
Gortash is back, no one knows just yet, with the the exception of withers.
Withers thinks it's best for gortash lays low for a while.
The companions have no clue about his resurrection.
Gortash is aware that he is now an enemy of the people in baldur's gate.
Going back there isn't an option right now.
He is at the wilderness campsite, that's where he stays.
Every now and then, the companions would visit withers, gortash must remain unseen at all cost.
So he hides, until they leave.
Eventually, it all gets a little tiresome for gortash.
Wondering when he'll be able to get out of hiding.
This time, durge pays a visit to withers.
Gortash hesitates, he hadn't seen durge since their confrontation with the elder brain.
Realisation hits him, he must hide, quickly.
With a quick sigh of relief, gortash wonders, if durge would be glad to see him. Maybe not.
Durge has changed, no reason to be around a miserable failure like himself.
Durge has moved on, with no memories of their times together.
To durge, he is the past. The forgotten past.
Gortash's thoughts were cut off when he heard the sound of someone clearing their throat.
Lo and behold, standing there, in his hiding place, was none other than the one he was thinking about.
Durge saw him.
Durge knows nows.
He should be disappointed he failed withers.
But he's happy, happy to be seen by his durge.
"You're supposed to be dead" were the words durge spoke.
Time to explain everything.
You know what I'm going to yap about my main BG3 characters. This post is about my main Tav character, where I'll talk about her backstory, how her main story (in game story) differs from canon, and her two potential endings, as well as her relationship with each of the companions (minus Minsc and Minthara because I didn't get either during this run) and a couple other fun facts. Note that I'm not too fluent in DnD lore and don't care if this isn't canon, this is my fan character to have fun with. Actual post under the cut
Without further ado, introducing:
She's a Seldarine drow, a Death Domain cleric of Mystra, and romancer of Gale. Her backstory is that she's the third of four children from parents that escaped the Underdark and swore themselves to Eilistraee - she has three brothers, two older and one younger. She grew up worshipping Eilistraee, and in her late teenage years began to worship Mystra as well. The village she lived in was attacked around the time she would enter young adulthood, and she prayed to both her goddesses for help. Mystra granted her wings to escape (Echo was able to save youngest brother too, the only other surviving family member she has), and from that day on Echo devoted herself to Mystra. Echo and her brother traveled Faerûn, with her protecting him from everything that came their way. That changed when she was abducted by the mind flayer ship, and had the parasite put in her
Echo now travels with Gale, Wyll and Karlach. As soon as she began befriending Gale, she felt connected to him - his devotion to Mystra, his understanding of her, called to Echo. The longer they traveled together, though, the more she realized this was a different side to her goddess. This wasn't the goddess she loved so dearly, the one who had crafted her wings to guide her to safety. The Mystra she heard of was... awful to Gale. Echo's faith told her Gale must be wrong, but her trust in her companion and her reason told her otherwise
Echo's story ends one of two ways, and it all depends on if Gale becomes a god or not. Either way she turns away from Mystra, her conscience not letting her be devoted to a goddess who could use someone she loves. As a punishment for abandoning her faith, Mystra takes back the gifted wings, but doesn't stop there - she takes Echo's sight as well, allowing her to only "see" the Weave. Wherever magic gathers, Echo can see it, though it's dependent on how much magic is there. An item or person that has strong magic can be seen more clearly, though it's only ever as a soft purple light
Now, should Gale ascend to godhood, Echo devotes herself to him as his first cleric. She wanders Faerûn in search of her brother, and helps those who need it. While she is often alone, she is content. However should Gale remain mortal, Echo will opt to remain with him. She still does what she can to search for her brother, asking many an adventurer to keep an eye out for him and help him find her if they can. With her lover remaining mortal, she returns her devotion to Eilistraee (whom she never forgot but did set aside), becoming a cleric of hers instead
No matter if she wanders Faerûn or stays with Gale, Echo misses her brother dearly. She's prepared to spend the rest of her life searching for him, refusing to give up hope to reunite with her sole family member. Echo wants to see who her brother has become, she believes he's capable enough to survive on his own. When they meet again, she's eager to hear of his adventures
Fun fact; in her timeline, the Emperor bases his form of her brother. While not identical, he hopes to remind Echo enough of her brother that she would listen to him. He even tries to mirror the familial connection to manipulate her
Echo's friends with most of her travel companions. She's dating Gale, and considers Wyll and Karlach as her best friends, admiring them for their actions and their friendship. Echo considers all her companions as her friends, except for Astarion - as much as she tried to get along with him, the two were just fundamentally too different to be proper friends. Still, Echo did everything she could to help all of her companions, believing each of them is inherently deserving of her help
(also her eyes are meant to be purple pre Mystra's curse but I didn't think of that in character creation and never felt like fixing it)
"are you sure you're autistic" my mom asks as I'm in my Pokémon pajamas with 5 of my Pokémon plushies by me as I play Pokémon New Snap on my Pokémon decorated Switch while listening to Pokémon YouTube videos and waiting to open more digital Pokémon cards
You guys will never guess what my special interest is
Nothing is more fun than revisiting characters and stories from a while ago. Even if it's only been a few months since my last update to the stories, writing and sharing that writing with my friends is awesome
Also I love coming up with entirely new parts of the world, fleshing out the universes I made by giving them unrelated moving parts to other stories happening. Maybe characters from the A focus will someday meet the ones from the B or C focus. Maybe there's a single character tying them all together. It's so fun especially when other people are influencing the story
This post is just a segue into potentially sharing excerpts from my writing here, though I'm not sure how well the excerpts will work without the 7 years of lore explained as context lmao
Another thing about Yurena's horns decorations/jewelry, since it's all from Gortash. For a long time she just had the two rings, then eventually a chain around one of them too. But in the current day she also has little studs in her horns, which are also from Gortash, naturally. It took a long time for Gortash to even suggest such a thing, and even longer for Yurena to agree to it, because I imagine tiefling horns are like goat horns and therefore have nerves and shit (read; putting something like those studs in would hurt). And like Yurena has no problems with pain, both having a high pain tolerance and generally not finding pain as a bad feeling, but to trust someone to potentially hurt her like that? It took a while, not to mention Gortash insisted on spending plenty of time so close to make sure each stud was perfectly placed, perfectly symmetrical
Gortash: I'm not hurting you, am I?
Yurena: You'd be bleeding by now if I cared
Gortash: I didn't ask if you care, just if it hurts
Yurena: I'm not the first tiefling you've met
Gortash: You're the first one whose horns I've touched. It's never come up before
Yurena: If you must know, fine. Yes, there's pain each time the jewelry is put in. Be careful closer to the base of them if you care about it so much
Gortash was in fact extremely careful. At the end of it all, Yurena has more horn decorations to treasure and Gortash is left admiring his art - and Yurena
I just spent an ungodly amount of time infodumping to my girlfriend about Fall Out Boy. I was originally trying to talk about Grandson because I love his music
Also fun fact, Grandson - who wrote songs such as Die Young, thoughts & prayers, and 6:00 - has a song in Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie
Listen, of the 1,025 Pokémon that exist I will always find a way to defend 1,024 of them
However, there is one, exactly one Pokémon that I hate with every fiber of my being. Remembering that it exists fills me with rage. Seeing it instills disgust. His very existence has caused me to avoid passing through certain routes if I can help it, just so I don't have to see it. I don't hate much, but I despise this stupid Pokémon
I hate him to his very core
I hate how humanoid he is. I hate how his horns look like hair. I hate that he wears shoes, as ugly as they are. I hate the stupid pink dots on his fingers. I hate that his name gives him a title, Mr. Mime. I hate his Detective Pikachu appearance that must have been created by a monster wishing to give children nightmares. I hate his shiny that stands as the singular proof that lime green is too widely used, controllable or not. I hate his Galarian form that somehow makes him even more off putting, I hate that he was given one instead of a better Pokémon. Most of all, I hate that he comes from something so cute
Do you want to know the only time I have released a Pokémon, dear reader? It was when I had caught Mime Jr. at 8 years old, so excited that it would evolve into something pretty or cool. I would add it to my team, and it would battle alongside me to victory. Alas, level 19 came, and to my younger self's utter horror I watched as my adorable clown became a creature that never should have been created. How could Arceus allow such a creature to exist in its creation, to thrive while crushing the hopes of children? This child who knew not how the game properly worked immediately released the abomination, leaving behind a Pokémon she once held hope in but now couldn't recognize
11 years have passed since I taught that Mime what trauma is, and to this day I despise what my child became
I just wanted to make a quick post laying out some basic details for each of my Tav/Durge runs so I can look back on it and not redo certain things. So enjoy if you want a rundown of each character
Note that many of these are still in progress, only Yurena and Echo have actually completed playthroughs because I keep having new ideas then starting then getting all the way to act 3 before having a new idea and repeating the cycle. Echo and Orion are siblings, their runs are alternate universes of each other. Carys is my first time multiclassing which has been fun. Also all characters have some sort of more in depth story because I'm incapable of simply leaving them as what the game says they are, but those will be posted on their own
