Hello, Im so sorry if you've already been asked this before, but should I read the ORV webnovel or will reading the webtoon be sufficient enough to understand the story?
No problem! It’s an important question and deserves it’s own post 💕
The short answer is yes, absolutely read the webnovel! ORV is the type of metafiction that does backflips off your expectations for it until the bitter end. Every medium for storytelling has some unique aspects about it, ORV was written with a novel format specifically in mind.
I think the most important reason, though, is that Kim Dokja is a supremely unreliable narrator whose omitted information or reinterpretations of things make up a large part of ORV’s thematic ground, and the webtoon struggles with showing that. Mr. Dokja Kim is a bit too “cool” and infallible seeming, and its harder to wrap your head around the fact that he’s untrustworthy and his perception of events is rarely what’s actually happening
Here’s something I drew recently as an example. The manhwa has to follow KDJ’s POV so the scene is hard set as comedic, whereas in the novel, it’s easy to reframe the scene in your head once you know and see KDJ is being mean to yjh 😔
This is already a long ass post for what is a yes or no question, but if you’re interested, below the cut are my thoughts on the strengths and weaknesses of the webtoon as an adaptation!
I kinda cooked with this on IG so it’s coming here too
so..... i've been playing pokemon black lately!!
doodles mostly from the mid-game b/c i've played early game like 100000x already-- so i just wanted to get past it and to the parts i've not played yet..... lol

godddd how can ppl just continue to remain sane after thinking about yoohankim for more than 10 seconds tis beyond me to comprehend
yoo joonghyuk, warned by kim dokja himself that if you want to meet me and learn your reason for existing is to save my life you will have to regress and relive the apocalypse hell for 1864 times. you will break, you will get depressed, you will forget why you started this to begin with. and all yoo joonghyuk said was "I hope you continue to exist somewhere too"
han sooyoung, warned by dokkaebi king (fourth wall) that if you want to enter the 41st worldline and get kim dokja back you will die because your death has been recorded on the wall and you will forget we ever had this meeting, and all han sooyoung said was "If this is the probability needed for you to come back then..."
yoohankim childhood friends:??!!
todays chapter included astronaut yjh pov. while he's resting in another world, biyoo tells him to imagine a life without the scenarios, which he can't do well. after some conversation (biyoo: "maybe in another life you wouldn't be unemployed. i feel sorry for captain.") he hears a boy's voice in the distance and immediately gets up and runs to grab his shoulder. as he reaches the boy, a gruff boy grabs his arm, while a small girl moves to protect the boy. he apologizes and lets go.
watching the three walk off, he starts to think. that boy who sounds like kim dokja, the gruff boy with a strikingly similar aura to himself, and the small girl with a mole on her cheek... he knows they couldn't really be who he's thinking of. even so, somewhere out there, a story like that might just exist.
Even if TWSA had finished without the world ending, KDJ would have been okay
drawing kdj and yjh next to each other to emphasize kdj’s normal guy charms 🤲😭🥹
ah, but….
(isn’t it a bit a pathetic for him to be so normal? maybe it would be cooler if he had…)
Since people canonically cannot see Dokja's face, it would be interesting how that would manifest as their minds tried to fill in the blanks. Ever-shifting, morphing between various never-quite-clear faces of the average Korean man. Somewhat hard and eye-straining to look at if you look at him too long.
