The sanctum was peaceful, the only noise came from the occasional turning of a page, or scribbling of pen on paper. From outside the sound of rain hitting the pavement could be heard, paired with the occasional boom of thunder in the distance. In the other room, a fire was burning, the occasional crack of a log added to the comfortable ambiance.
Hearing the cover of a book close, Stephen looked up. He watched your movement as you set a book aside, and reached for another. You had gone through nearly half the books in the sanctum during your time there. You were a promising student, though you never thought you could be. It took some convincing from Stephen to get you to leave the Avengers compound and come stay at the sanctum. He thought it might be the only chance the two of you had to be together more often. At least now you'd be under the same roof.
As you thumbed through the book in front of you, Stephen realized that he hadn't heard a word out of you since Wong had left. With another realization, he knew he hadn't said anything either. A pang of guilt rocked through his chest. He asked you to come here to be with him, and you barely spent any time together outside of him teaching you about magic and the sanctum. Stephen looked around, the sanctum was currently empty, you were finally alone.
Placing your head in your hand as you read through yet another passage, you felt boredom beginning to take over. Re-reading the same line in the book again, you let out a soft breath.
Suddenly, from the next room, you heard the sound of music begin to play. It echoed through the sanctum, making you look up in curiosity. Hearing footsteps, you turned to see Stephen walking towards you.
"You're playing music?" You asked curiously.
He smiled softly as he walked up to you, stopping as he stood next to you. He stared down at you silently.
"What?" You asked, suddenly feeling as though he was looking at you through a microscope.
He reached out his hand towards you as he smiled again. "Dance with me."
You look from his hand, back to his face. You smiled, your brow furrowed in curiosity. "Really?"
He nodded once. "Really."
You smiled as you took his hand. "Okay." Standing, he squeezed your hand lightly as he led you to the center of the room.
Pulling you closer to him, you set your free hand on his shoulder, he set his on your waist. Your other hands were intertwined as you began to sway smoothly to the music.
Your eyes locked for a few moments before you spoke. "Why the sudden change in pace?"
He knew you meant the change in his behavior. For the last two weeks he had barely rested, always training, reading, teaching, or going off to other sanctums.
He shook his head slightly, mainly at his self as he realized he had been neglecting your relationship. "I realized how much of an ass I've been." You frowned slightly in confusion. He continued. "I brought you here so we could be together more often, and then I got distracted with everything else. I've neglected you."
You were touched by his sudden words, but you let out a small chuckle. "I'm not a dog Stephen, I know you've been busy. I'm not mad, nor hurt. I do wish we could be together more often, but I'm willing to wait until the timing is more opportune."
He smiled, and pulled you a bit closer to him. He stared into your eyes for a moment. "I miss you."
You smiled softly, feeling your chest clench lightly. "I miss you too." You spoke softly, almost in a whisper.
"I promise I will find more time to be with you, just you, soon."
"I'll be here, whenever that is."
Your words were almost a promise. Telling him you wouldn't leave. He felt a lightness come over him, as he realized he was worried about losing you more than he knew.
Bringing his hand up from your waist, he gently caressed your face, before hooking his finger under your chin. Following the leading movement, you moved closer. The ghost of a smile played over his lips as thy hovered over yours for a moment. Finally kissing you, he pulled your body even closer to his, your chest now flush against his.
When you both broke away from the kiss, you locked eyes again, gentle adoring smiles on both your faces. Moving your head, you placed it softly against his chest, hooking your arm under his as you held him against you.
You closed your eyes as continued to sway to the music. You heard his heart beating steady in his chest, as a feeling of content washed over you. You took in a deep breath, as hi familiar scent filled your nose. A deep woodsy scent, mixed with incense and old books. It made you feel safe.
Stephen pressed his face to the top of your head, pressing a kiss into your hair. Bringing up his hand, he held the back of your head for a moment, before he hooked his finger into your hair, and brushed them through it. An intimate gesture he was fond of, especially when you were lying together in bed. As he continued to run his fingers through your hair, he closed his eyes as he rested his head against yours.
The music wasn't loud as it played through the sanctum. But as your thoughts were filled with nothing but each other, you failed to notice the presence that entered the room.
Wong stopped in his tracks as he saw the two of you. Embraced, and swaying softly to music that filled the room. He watched you two for a moment, as a wide smile spread across his face. He adored watching the two of you in moments like this, though it had been a while since he witnessed one.
Silently, he took a few steps backwards and out of the room. Sparing one more look at the two of you, he smiled again, before leaving the sanctum once again. He'd give you two some more time, he knew you both needed it.
xx End xx

no thoughts, head empty. just another book on Atlas and Lily with both their povs.
The way Eliza draws out “Stay” in That Would Be Enough is the exact same way Maria draws out “Stay” in Say No To This
During Hurricane, Hamilton sings “I couldn’t seem to die” and Burr sings “wait for it, wait for it, wait for it…”
Jon Rua, the actor who played Charles Lee, also played Burr’s second in his duel with Hamilton. Burr was Lee’s second in his duel with Laurens.
James Reynolds, Philip Schuyler, and the doctor in Stay Alive Reprise are all played by the same actor. Philip Schuyler gave his blessing to Hamilton for his and Eliza’s marriage; James Reynolds was the one who ruined it; and the doctor tried to help Philip but couldn’t.
In The World Was Wide Enough, the second-to-last song, Hamilton says “I wrote some notes at the beginning of a song someone will sing for me”. In Alexander Hamilton, the first song, the ensemble sings “America sings for you”
Aaron Burr, Sir has the same melody as The World Was Wide Enough. Burr offers to buy a drink for Hamilton when they first met, and buys one for himself after he kills him
Every time a gunshot sound goes off at the end of a song, (Alexander Hamilton, The Room Where It Happens, Non-Stop) Burr is always standing in the middle of the stage, foreshadowing that he’s going to shoot Hamilton
Hamilton sings some of Eliza’s lines from That Would Be Enough in It’s Quiet Uptown. That Would Be Enough was the song where he found out Eliza was pregnant with Philip, and Quiet Uptown is the song where they are mourning Philip. it’s like a full cycle
“You can stop swimming now, Lily. We finally reached the shore.”
It Ends With Us, Colleen Hoover
