I’ve been looking at guides to clown makeup and I’m imagining a fantasy setting where wizards aesthetically and thematically operate like clowns.
A wizard’s spellbook is on their face. Every detail — from the size and colour of the nose to the angle of the eyebrows, from every smear of whiteface to every line of grease paint drawn over the eye — is a delicate and detailed manuscript of where the wizard came from, what schools of magic they’ve been trained in, where their power is drawn from and what shape it takes.
