Alien with a universal translator decides to test it on a cat.
Alien: Hello cat.
Cat: Hello strange-cat.
Alien: why do you call me strange-cat? I am an alien.
Cat: Everything is either cat, strange-cat, not-cat, or not-food.
Alien: I am not-cat.
Cat: Not-cat is food!
Alien: NO! I am Not-food!
Cat: You bigger than me, but you is not trying to eat me. You is very strange not-food. You say you is not-food, then you is not-food. You sure you not strange-cat? You act like strange-cat.
Alien: Nevermind. Can I ask you a question about your owner?
Cat: don't know this word.
Alien: The strange-cat you live with.
Cat: Yes, that is my strange-cat. I take care of them. We play. We sleep. They groom me and make me happy. They can do many things. They are a clever strange-cat. But they dont know how to hunt. Poor strange-cat starve without hunting. So I hunt them food. I bring them food. They share food. They are a good strange-cat, even if they don't know how to hunt.
Alien: Is that why you bring mice and birds to them?
Cat: I see not-cat. I hunt not-cat. I have food for me and my strange-cat.
Alien: But you don't need to do that.
Cat: I do. Me and Strange-cat would starve if I didnt hunt.
Alien: No, look, when your strange-cat takes away your not-cat, and they give food later, dont you ever see that it doesnt look, or smell like the thing you caught?
Cat: My strange-cat is clever. Even if they don't know how to hunt. They take the not-cat and make food.
Alien: Dont you ever notice that you always get the same amount of food even though it's been days, or weeks, since you last caught a little rat, or tiny bird?
Cat: You say many strange words Not-Food. I hunt not-cat. I bring hunt to my strange-cat to show them how to hunt. They take my hunt and they don't hunt, because they are strange-cat. But they make food, because they are clever strange-cat.
Alien: Your strange-cat is called a human. They are powerful predators. They can survive many dangerous things. They are perfectly capable of looking after themselves. They are the ones who look after you! They get the food, not you!
Cat: You are very silly Not-Food. If this is true, why do I need to hunt for them?
*Cat leaves because it is time to go eat with their Strange-cat*
I’M BAAAACK!!!!! LOL Alladdin’s Genderbends with a cute extra <3 (I know, Jasmine is an old drawing)
Danny Fenton is a prime example of an unreliable narrator/protagonist. Like for real, it’s crazy how much he sells himself short. He’ll say phrases such as “if I wasn’t a C student, I would’ve figured this out sooner,” “So much for the Fentons being a family of geniuses,” and make jabs at himself for not doing enough as a hero. Which is wild to hear when his every action contradicts those statements.
Like I’m serious, actually paying attention to his fights and methods of overcoming adversity, it becomes pretty clear that he’s actually incredibly intelligent. He’s a quick thinker, resourceful, and honestly? Although he’s the good guy in the show, he really is quite good at manipulation and finding other’s weaknesses.
Examples:
He’s won plenty of fights where he didn’t even have access to his powers for extended periods (Maternal Instincts, Life Lessons, Pirate Radio, Micro Management, etc.)
Clever af plans (Maternal Instincts, One of a Kind, What You Want, Lucky in Love, Pirate Radio, etc)
He’s tricked foes into a friendly fire (Memory Blank, Million Dollar Ghost, Life Lessons, etc)
He’s been shown to still have fighting ability and weapons training as Fenton, also just catches on quick (Pirate Radio, Flirting With Distaster, My Brother’s Keeper, etc.)
There’s times where he seems to know his parents’ inventions even better than they do
Whole reason I’m pointing this out is ‘cause a pretty good portion of fights aren’t won just because he’s powerful. Plenty of ghosts overpower him, especially in S01 and with mega ghosts like Pariah Dark. He wins consistently because of clever strategy, and quick thinking.
Danny is super smart and I feel like it’s very important to his character to state that. Says a lot about him and his upbringing if he perceives himself as anything less than that.
Might be a stretch, but I have a theory that perhaps he thinks this way because he’s been taught to equate performance in school with intelligence. Jack and Maddie both come from heavily educational backgrounds, and they do sometimes place a lot of pressure on their children to live up to the expectations of being a Fenton. I.E. the whole speech his parents gave him about Fentons only getting A’s (B-’s if you’re Jack).
So when Danny’s grades plummet, even when there’s a perfectly valid reason for that happening, he immediately assumes he’s not intelligent anymore. I wonder if prior to becoming Phantom, he may even have been an A or B student considering even a C leaves him completely mortified. Lancer also reported that he hasn’t had any records of bad behavior before that.
It’s just a very problematic way to view intelligence, to simply equate it to one’s grades, because that’s certainly not the case. (Literally when he passes Lancer’s test, the first thing he says is, “I’m not an idiot!”) And I think his parents may have done him a huge disservice in that regard. There’s plenty of factors that would make someone struggle in school. Home life, accessibility to resources, stress, financial burdens, mental illness. Like, there’s A LOT.
I even wonder if perhaps, along with struggling with his double life, Danny may have an undiagnosed mental disorder. There’s plenty about him that feels relatable in that regard, but that would be a post all on its own and some really great ones already exist here and here. We’ve already seen how horribly his parents react to signs of MI, it wouldn’t surprise me if they overlooked that. I just think he’s really going through it, and could honestly use more responsible adult figures in his life. Someone who can help correct the way he thinks of himself, and who can give him the proper means of getting help and feeling comfortable to ask for it. We have Jazz, but she’s a kid way in over her head too who I feel may also benefit from talking to someone.
And who could forget that moment of Thor in Infinity War
While there is nothing wrong with the word "said" in and of itself, variety is the key to exciting writing that keeps readers engaged.
Combining action beats with varied synonyms as well as "said" yields the most interesting and varied results.

Danny owns a traveling space auditorium
like, if the boy can’t be able to go to space the normal human way because of his physical condition then he can at least center his life around the one subject he is so passionate about.
So a space auditorium it is, and not just a normal auditorium but a traveling one.
Why?
Well for one, Danny has to be on the move in a way, first from the GIW because they are the ones that have their mission of finding, capturing, and experimenting on ghosts. If they manage to find out that Danny is a halfa then they would go after him to study him and to contain him for the "protection" of others. If they don't know he is a halfa but someone who does know about ghost and suspect he is helping them then Danny is their ticket to finding those ghost. So yeah, reason one is GIW.
(Or you can also add the bad Fenton parents route and see how that goes as well)
Another reason is that this makes it an excuse for Danny to find and transport other ghosts from the human realm to the Infinite Realms whenever he hears slight rumors of other ghostly activities. It also gives him a chance to content his protection obsession
But it also gives him a bit of freedom, a chance to get out and be free from the need to stay up all night and skip out on school or be at the end of his parent's own inventions. To be able to travel without a destination and show the world his own world of wonders seem like such a personal and amazing way for Danny to live his childhood dream as an astronaut.
...and maybe an excuse to have Danny to visit Dani once or twice
But in any case!
Danny's traveling space auditorium is a tent in which people can go in and see the stars all around them. It's like the tent suddenly became big as with each step they take they felt the explosions of stars and the creation of galaxies, the rings of Saturn that feel a touch away, nova's that have colors only those with meta genes can see right in front of them, the heat of the sun as fire curls around them and the ride of shooting stars that pass the asteroid belt. With the use of Danny's powers, he can create scenes in which he had experiences in both the Ghost realm and in space.
But his favorite is when he creates the grande finally of entrapping everyone with stars, from the top of their heads to the very souls of their feet. Everywhere they walk or see there would always be stars as if they were in space itself. Danny always felt joy when the small 'stars' around them can be moved by them and watched in glee as children make a game of collecting the prettiest stars, how the adults laugh in awe and the elderly given a smile on their faces.
The first time he tested this was in the inside of his room with Jazz who quickly gained a hug and an excited Jazz over the use of his powers and his love for space. Sam and Tucker were the next to experience his little space auditorium. The joy they showed only made Danny more eager to share his little gift.
Once he grabbed a tent and did enough practice he traveled to the next town over and made cape there, nervous of the reaction of strangers would be.
He didn't need to worry as he was given praise after praise.
One show became two, then two to three, and then three to ten.
Word of Danny's traveling space auditorium spread quickly which actually got demands from other states since Danny, at first, only starred in his traveling space auditorium in the state. But now he's been getting all sorts of requests from all over the country.
And because it's the era of social media, his traveling space auditorium boomed.
It boomed to the point where he even got Martian Manhunter to see his auditorium. Martian Manhunter!
That was the best day of his half-dead life
At least, it was until he visited Gotham.
Why you may ask?
Well on the third day of his visit there was a murder inside his tent.

this formatting is making me uncomfortable but I have to tell you something / ask you something that is vital to my career as a student.
I re-read and edited that sentence for an hour, but you’ll probably just glance over it for half a second.
thanks!
