no one talks about the psychological torture behind Young-il saying “I pressed the O button because of you” to Gi-hun. it’s like salt to the wound. Young-il being the last person to vote, the deciding factor for whether or not the game will continue.

Young-il’s saying “I pressed the O button because of you” basically translates to “well, I would have pressed the X and the game would have been over if it weren’t because of YOU. you’re the reason the game continues.” because he knows it will fuck with Gi-hun. he knows Gi-hun will think HE HIMSELF is the reason the game continues. because Young-il pressed O BECAUSE OF HIM.

Gi-hun’s hope to end the game, by telling people he’s played these games before, ends up being the sole reason the game continues.

it’s a cruel yet smart tactic, an effective mind game. Young-il has been fucking with Gi-hun ever since the beginning.
