Hey Guys!!!

hey guys!!!

so this entire past month has been extremely, extremely stressful for me because i had so many exams and i only realised how hideously unprepared i was for them on the day before the exam, which was really really awful. so in the middle of september i created a studyblr to keep myself motivated + get some helpful tips from the studyblr community on how to go abt studying for tests. the results proved to be super helpful and ive resolved to keep running this blog for as long as i can, because it really helps me stay motivated and i’ve already learned so many things from the community, despite the fact that i’ve only been here for around a month.

but anyways, i decided to create this masterpost in order to help others stay motivated + keep studying not only well but also properly i.e. not necessarily studying for exams but life in general, if that makes sense.

Tips for studying during term break

Wake up early. Not as early as during school term - term break is not a time to be waking up at 6am daily - but not at noon either. Aim for around 8-10am, so you’re not sleepy af when you start work, and you haven’t slept half the day away.

Slacken a little. Don’t overwork yourself!! I find a good method is to restrain your studying time to within your normal school hours (8am-6pm for me - which gives plenty of time to relax and watch tv shows in the evening), and study for about 2/3 of that time. This way you’ll still have covered at least several hours of work, but won’t feel exhausted :) (oh yes, if possible review your notes before sleeping to make them stick)

Scheduling. Have a masterlist of tasks to complete/goals to achieve during the break. Work out a rough estimate on how many days are needed to do complete all you have to do, and spread your tasks out evenly, preferably by weeks. Remember to work around your dates with friends (or significant others)/vacations! Keep to your goals so you have more free days :))

Study groups. During breaks it’s much much easier to arrange study sessions with friends. It’ll feel a lot less like you’re wasting your break, and you can catch meals with them before/after/during your session, so you’ll enjoy your study days more.

Go out/invite in/chill. It’s term break!!! Go out with your friends/get them to come over!! Or if you prefer having some alone time, have the day to yourself. At least 1 every 4 days, more if possible! If you’re part of a group activity that trains frequently, this can be skipped, but shouldn’t be.

For us students, Sunday is universally hated day. Full of last minute homework assignments, cramming for tests and existential crises, Sundays are almost always awful. Nothing is worse than having a stressful start to your week so in an effort to make things easier for all us, I made a Sunday Checklist for you get your life in order on Sundays so that you don’t get swept away by your mountain of responsibilities.

Pull out your planner: Enter in all test dates and due dates that haven't already been inputed. Check to see what you have going on that week.

Make a to-do list: Include all assignments due Monday/Tuesday and anything else you need to get done. Highlight or mark high priority items and get them done first.

Start working: Finish high priority assignments first and then move on to the less pressing tasks. Use the Pomodoro technique to keep yourself productive.

Review material: After finishing your assignments, spend some time reviewing last week’s material for each class to refresh yourself. It’s easy to forget what you’re studying if you don’t touch your textbooks at all during the weekends.

Clean out your bag: Empty your backpack and reorganize everything for the week. You’ll be amazed at how much trash and stray papers you’ll find.

Make food for the week: If you’re like me and hate cafeteria food, make a few dishes and refrigerate them for the week. Pasta is an ideal choice for me because its not only fairly easy to make but it packs lots of calories for long school days.

Pick out your outfits for the week: Doing this will make your morning so much easier because literally all you have to do is get yourself dressed.

Laundry: Getting laundry done during the week usually never happens with a busy schedule so get it done on Sunday night so you’re not scrambling for clothes mid-week.

Clean your room: Keep your sanity during week by tidying your room up during weekends so you’re not left wondering where that homework assignment disappeared to.

If you find yourself having really busy weekdays, try your best to keep Sundays free of any commitments so you have a full day to get all your homework and studying for the week done! I usually get everything done on Sundays and do minimal studying during the week. Also push yourself to get up early on Sundays; I know its tempting to sleep in but you will be surprised at how much more time you have in your day when you wake up early.

Here’s to a happy school year free of stress!
