Character Intro: Hephaestus (Kingdom of Ichor)

Age- 17 (immortal)

Location- Lemnos, Olympius

Personality- Hephaestus is very quiet, intuitive, and introverted. He's very insecure about his looks. He's also ingenious, creative, and intelligent- striving for perfectionism. He has a very small social group filled with people that he wholeheartedly trusts. He doesn't have much of a social life and prefers it that way, instead opting to spend his time working.

Aside from a few people, no one really knows what he looks like. It's said that he has heterochromia- one eye is dark brown with the other being blue-green. He's had both his legs & an arm amputated as a child (due to his extreme physical injuries). He now has various cybernetic prosthetics (which he designed and made himself) that he wears most of the time.

Hephaestus was raised by his adoptive mother Eurynome (an oceanid nymph). He didn't find out he was adopted till he was about 13. It didn't change the way he saw or felt about her. His anger grew however when he found out the circumstances surrounding his birth (being thrown off a mountain, or so he was told...) and the identity of his biological parents- Zeus and Hera (under the shapeshift disguise as an old sailing couple he was helping out). Hephaestus ran away from Lemnos, where he was taken under the wing of the three cyclopes- Brontes, Arges, and Steropes, that are famous blacksmiths. To soften the blow, Zeus offered a down payment to jump start his businesses and after some convincing from his mom, Hephaestus accepted.

There's only one other woman (aside from his mother) that he trusts wholeheartedly- his best friend and assistant Techne (goddess of arts, crafts, & invention). He doesn't mind her offbeat and quirky nature. Hephaestus is also friendly with another associate of his, the goddess Aetna. She's the inspiration of the virtual assistant they've developed! Hephaestus is currently mentoring a young deity, Cedalion (god of smithing ore).

He's the second most busiest god in the Pantheon (after Hermes). Hephaestus owns several businesses- he oversees all the construction projects in the country, he's one of the first to heavily employ cyclopes & giants into the workforce, he has a chain of hardware stores, auto repair shops, tech repair shops, auto factories, architecture, and Hephaestus is the owner of Olympius' biggest tech corporation (iCHOR Tech)- computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and other electronic appliances and tools as well as a construction company (Vulcan & Co). He even has a chain of automaton toy shops. He's currently working on designs for prosthetic tails for mermaids and other water dwelling nymphs and a cybernetic eye for cyclopes who lost their eye (through disease or injury). He also has his own amusement park‐ Ember Kingdom.

Hephaestus is also responsible for crafting many of the things the gods use- he commissioned the statue of Zeus at the Lightning Harbor, he made Hermes' winged sneakers, the bows and arrows of Apollo & Artemis as well as Athena's chariot.

He doesn't have much of a relationship with the other gods in the pantheon (especially his biological parents). Hephaestus does like Hestia, having met her briefly twice. He ate up the berry mix baklava she brought him. Hephaestus does hold the Titan goddess of fire Anchiale in high regard, having met her at his induction ceremony.

He doesn't drink alcohol, but he does indulge in cigarettes, cigars, and weed. His go-to drink is iced tea.

As for romantic relationships, Hephaestus had his first kiss when he was 10 with a friend Cabeiro, who's a sea nymph. He was her date to the prom and they are still friends to this day. He's only seriously been in love once- with a mortal girl named Anticleia. She was a student at Athenium Academy and their first date was a moonlight walk through Eaglepoint Park. After two years together, Hephaestus was about to propose (with a pearl and diamond ring he made himself), but was heartbroken when he discovered that her and her family had quickly moved out of New Olympus.

To have the utmost seclusion and privacy, his main abode is inside one of the most infamous volcanoes, Mt. Etna (located on the island of Sicilios). He owns a pet dragon, a boy named Flameclaw. He also has many dogs as pets too- like bulldogs, bull terriers, dobermanns, bloodhounds, & siberian huskies. He even has donkeys as pets! Hephaestus also lives in an apartment in Lemnos- located deep underground.

He loves getting the extra hot buffalo wings with biscuits from Olympic Chef when he's in the mood for fast food.

Being the god of forge, volcanoes, blacksmiths, and fire, Hephaestus has many abilities including pyrokinesis. He can breathe and exhale fire (his fire burns a bright red and he can even get it to burn a glowing white). He can also heal others through fire. He healed many of the elderly citizens in Lemnos using this skill. His other abilities include technokinesis (manipulating technology & metal), shapeshifting into/communicating with his sacred animals, magnetism, thermal vision, ferrokinesis, and he has divine control over volcanoes, lava, & magma.

In his free time, Hephaestus really enjoys the time he spends with adoptive mother Eurynome. They spend the day swimming, scouring the nearby coves for seashells & they eat their favorite meal- broiled oysters and clams. He also enjoys being in his workshop- working on his inventions, working out, playing video games, and reading. Despite his proclivities towards lava, he has not experienced lava surfing. He has also taken on pottery & glass blowing.
