Many have been discussing what would happen if Zoro died before Luffy became the Pirate King or, simply, if he died before Luffy, but let me bring up an idea:

What if Luffy died before becoming the Pirate King and fulfilling his dream? What if Zoro fulfilled his dream of being the greatest swordsman but without his captain by his side?

Can you imagine the pain, the anger, the sadness he would have to carry? Once he fulfilled his promise to his captain and his best friend, what is left for him? What is his purpose?

Then, one day, he hears rumors, about a new pirates willing to find the One Piece and finish what Luffy couldn't. What would be his reaction? Apathy? Sadness? Or maybe, just maybe, it would be rage.

It would be the converted pirate hunter Roronoa Zoro, the demon, the king of hell. The one who seeks out those naive people who dare to go for the One Piece and finish them off.

If his captain, if Luffy, could not be king of the pirates, no one else would ever be.

Me outwardly on social media: I support fans’ rights to ship whoever they want. Shipping is about fostering imaginations and having fun. When it comes to fictional characters, there’s no such thing as a “wrong” ship.

Me when I come across ZoSan content: Get this basic-ass shit away from me.

Yesterday was such a good day. Oda gave us Luffy and Zoro competing in a colorspread and included both of them in the shounen jump cover. Oda really love our dumbass duo😭

zoro is a weapon for his crew but in the world of one piece, swords have free will. they choose their wielders, challenge them, test them, act against their wishes, and if they find their owner unworthy they curse or kill them. characterizing zoro as someone who'd reject his own personhood to be a sword for his crew is wild cause he clearly sees swords as people 😭 he held a burial and apologized to yubashiri!

if luffy suddenly became evil with no way back and asked zoro to do something horrific, zoro is the first person who'd cut him down to protect the more vulnerable members of the crew. yes luffy knows this and it's exactly what he expects of his swordsman. luffy holds him to that standard because it's the standard that zoro demands to be held to. they're soooo normal and sane about each other

And what is so beautiful about them is this. Luffy is touchy and would always feed Zoro's touch starved body while Zoro is Luffy's rock where he knows Zoro would never let him be alone.

New Headcanon: Luffy is starting to get a bit of a crush on Loki because how often does Luffy try to care for someone like this? Willingly feed him meat that he specifically wants? Trying to play nurse??

Remember, this is the same dude who said he'd never be a hero because he doesn't like to share food. This is a pretty intimate act from him imo.

And you know what? I think Zoro noticed Luffy's interest & that's why he's been such an asshole to Loki. He's jealous.

In conclusion: Loki is an unfortunate & unwilling participate in the Zolu chronicles & Zoro's personal quest to defeat all of his love rivals. Luffy has no fucking idea either which makes this all the more messy & hilarious.

Luffy, can you just for once, just once pat your Green Pet’s head and tell him he is the best and the goodest boy in the world. Tell him he is the best First Mate in the whole wide world.

And Zoro, your goal is to be the greatest swordsman in the world. Why do you have to beef with Sanji all the time? Do you think Luffy would like Sanji more if he landed the killing blow as well as cooked the prey? You need his legs more than anyone when it comes to combat, stop worrying about Sanji.

😒 when your captain isn't paying attention to you

just a thought: as much as i really LOVE seeing luffy with one of zoro's earrings, i honestly hc that zoro would give him all three. because zoro doesnt give luffy just a part of him; he gives his entirety to luffy. and not just in that whole "i'll follow his every order" or a "i have an unquestionable faith in him", (which i'd like to note, neither of those things are wholly true between them imo), but because zoro is someone who has naturally surrendered himself to luffy--his unwavering adoration for luffy is the ultimate constant. like it's not just devotion it's "you've never had just a slice you've always had the whole cake." so he would not be such a coward as to hand luffy only one of his earrings but all three. i suppose it's just another way of laying himself bare for luffy lol

besides, on a more practical side, i imagine he'd probably like for the set of three to stay three, and it's either gonna be his ear or luffy's no split. it's supposed to be three like there's no point in wearing it if it doesnt go along w his whole concept haha

Egghead Zolu always feels like they’re on a ski date to me.

Watching Luffy scream his voice hoarse as Zoro gets eaten by that flower thing in the Baron Omatsuri movie was my ZoLu Roman Empire.

And then canon events duplicated that desperate scream with Kizaru v. Zoro at Sabaody.

Honestly, both events were traumatizing, but bless your ZoLu biases, Oda-sensei.

Also, I just LOVE that while Zoro is the crew’s strong, fierce protector, Luffy is also SO PROTECTIVE OF ZORO! We need more protective Luffy fics where he saves/spoils Zoro. Get to work, writers!!!
