i think one of my favorite things about aftg is how it so subtly shows such a deep level of affection through languages. like kevin learning french for jean even though it is a dangerous thing to do at the nest and neil and andrew learning a new language together post tkm and one of the first things jeremy asks jean being to teach him french. i want to know who you are in your mother language, i want to speak to you in a language that no one but us understands, i want to understand the language that you dream in

in an universe where neil ended up being a raven, i wonder if after escaping the nest he and jean could ever remain close, or they would be doomed to the same fate as kevjean, to love and care so much about each other but to have a history so complex and horrifying that they can't ever actually be friends anymore

so infuriating how kevjean is so doomed by the narrative... they can never be together... the love is there... but so is the history

something so perfect about neil making aaron understand the reason andrew killed his mother by using aaron killing drake as an example "i don't care if andrew never speaks to me again. if i could bring him [drake] back from the dead and kill him again, i would." "good, so now you understand why andrew killed your mother" and using elodie as an example to make jean understand that he didn't deserve all the bad things that happened to him just because he's a moreau "i am just a moreau, i'm not-" "so was elodie. remember that the next time you think you aren't worth saving"

aftg is the opposite of that one post that's like "love was there, it didn't change anything" because love was there and it changed everything. i will always appreciate nora for believing in her characters' right to find love and heal and get their second and third and fifth chance.

One thing I will say about Cassandra Clare and early Shadowhunters stuff is she stood on business ten toes down when it came to her villains. No lame nature vs. nurture debates, no last minute cop out redemption arcs for the YA audience, just demon incest, Victorian Elon musk and demon STDs that turn you into an evil worm. 10/10 no notes.

Bright smile, gorgeous ginger locks, a well-practiced innocent expression, this kid looks like the definition of a trustworthy child you could safely leave you car keys with. Realistically, she will take the car, crash it, leave an IOU note on the bonnet and run off to bully Austin.

Nyssa is a Hephaestus chick, so she's broad and strong and probably has a face like a brick wall half of the time, but actually is the sweetest child on earth unless your name is Leo Valdez. She would hang onto your keys and give you a coffee when you get back, along with a ten minute long explanation on the faults in your exhaust pipe and the name of the nearest car garage. 🔑

Éowyn and Aragorn are laughing their asses off in the background and Boromir is about to walk around the corner. 🗡️
