so!! these are the first couple of concepts for that witcher roleswap au i’m workin on
yennefer is a witcher, school of the wolf bc i dont want to over complicate things. even as a witcher she’s ambitious, so she gets hired on by queen calanthe as a live in monster hunter and combat specialist. when pavetta dies, yen takes up a maternal role for ciri, training her and keeping her safe.
geralt is still the one who claims ciri as a child surprise, but he does it as a laugh bc he read about it in his mythos classes and thought it would be neat if royalty owed him something. yen ends up going through a lot of the classic geralt stories looking for ways to break the bond between him and ciri, and ends up working with geralt more often than not. yennefer is also trans, so jot that down.
what are the girls getting tissaia for mother’s day:
yennefer: the poisoned source book copy highlighting the part where tissaia said one must choose if they want to be a sorceress or a mother with a note saying “you made some funny choices after all, happy mother’s day”
triss: a coupon for a “fun day with triss” that she’d never bother to cash in because triss would just show up and drag her out every other weekend
sabrina: a mug thats says “best mom ever” as a joke and tissaia did roll her eyes when she received it but she also makes tea in it every morning without fail
keira: she stole her old pipe three summers ago and regift it—because LOOK being a village witch does not come with a lot of money okay???
philippa: a frame picture of herself “so you don’t forget whose the biggest disappointment was” (she makes it her life mission to disappoint tissaia more and more after the coup) and of course it’s still hanging on tissaia’s office to this day

After like decades of painting this a little every week when I had free time I finally finished my new profile photo lol
Part 9 - AU wherein Yennefer is left as a baby on the doorstep of Aretuza and Tissaia takes her in. Yennefer doesn't like studying much, but Tissaia gives her lots of encouragement. And in the evenings, when all is quiet, Yennefer enjoys listening to Tissaia read - especially when it's Ancient Elvish or an epic adventure story.

I am presently part of circuit class and it helped remind me of a specific attribute of silver.
Silver is the most conductive metal on earth. Witchers carry a full, 1m+ bar of it sheathed on their back.
If electricity works about the same on the continent as it does in the real world, I think that it would affect Witchers, in some way. Imagine this: fellow stopped by the side of the road to fight some nekkers in the middle of the rain, just to get himself struck by lightning when he dared raise his sword. Though luck surviving that.
It reminded me Geralt hate storms in the games. (as in he always calls out when they start and sounds positively annoyed at them), so what about a hc/AU thingy about Witchers fearing electricity?
By fear, I mean full-on rejection and avoidance of everything that has to do with electricity. I imagine that half-inspired to prevent scenarios like the one presented above, and half by their own personal fear of it, the schools would encourage their students to be scared.
The young ones learn quickly about the dangers of electricity. All are forced to touch a statically charged object with their finger at least once, to distinguish what being shocked feels like, what your hair sticking up with static feels like. The kids are then thought, both by education and the adult’s obvious revulsion, to absolutely hate both.
