Y’all the ratgrinders are at least level 15. Brennan said that they killed 80,000 monsters. Rats and spiders are both 10xp each (couldn’t find the gremlin stats) which would bring them to level 15. Their barbarian had at least a plus 15 to athletics. Assuming she has a 20 strength score (technically you can’t raise above that with ability score improvements) and expertise, that would also be a level 15. Level 15 has plus 5 for proficiency for a total modifier of 15. If she didn’t roll a nat 20, it would have to be at least level 17 for a proficiency score of plus 6.

I really love that they just started at the end of the Night Yorb thing. Ignoring it completely or making the whole season about it would feel cheap; this was perfect. With all the new NPCs and the level up, it really felt like an actual adventure. Having some of the NPCs die was a great way to create stakes without making something as devastating as Crown of Candy. Really adds to the feel of “you’ll always be this tired forever.” So excited for the next episode!

Ally saying that comedian was the furthest down on their list of things to be because it was selfish is just so terrible and it makes me sad that society has taught us to look at art this way. Art brings people joy! It helps us connect with each other and understand each other and our world. It’s not selfish to make art! The amount of joy that Ally has brought me cannot be overstated. I had such high expectations for the finale and they were still all surpassed. The drama of Tula almost killing Jaysohn only for Viola to crit twice and completely wreck everyone. An absolutely insane last battle followed by an even crazier epilogue. Jaysohn deserves his airbud moment. I can’t wait for Lila to solve climate change. Thorn really was a prophet. I still need an update on the status of hats. What an amazing story the whole way through.

The way that Aabria has perfectly crafted the progression of this story is so good. The slow reveals and character development. The set pieces and projections on the dome. It’s all so fucking good and I can’t wait for the last episode

Paper Towns is an amazing deconstruction of the manic pixie dream girl trope.

I don’t understand how anyone could read “The fundamental mistake I had always made…was this: Margo was not a miracle. She was not adventure. She was not a fine and precious thing. She was a girl,” and not understand that the whole of point the book is that Margo is not a mpdg and that Q is wrong for treating her like one. The whole of the book is that Margo wanted to cultivate this image and persona but ultimately it just makes her feel worse.

This quote from Margo summarizes a lot of it: “I was the flimsy-foldable person, not everyone else. And here’s the thing about it. People love the idea of a paper girl. They always have…Because it’s kind of great, being an idea that everybody likes. But I could never be the idea to myself, not all the way.”

Growing up, I felt this so much. All of this pressure to be funny and smart and pretty and perfect, but the truth is that no one can be all of those things all the time. We are all people, with all of the complexity that that entails. When we pretend not to be, we lose out on having people love us for all the parts of ourselves.

So much of it is related to being a woman too. This pressure to make ourselves smaller so that we can be a supporting character. Every time I show a man that I know something he doesn’t, I can feel how uncomfortable (at best) and angry (more likely) they are. Paper towns is a great reminder that I am not here for anyone else’s development. I am my own story.

Mac is great representation actually because gay people can also be stupid and terrible and I think it’s important to not set our standards too high. Maybe I can’t be great, but I can sure be better than Mac
