“Youth is the gift of nature, but age is a work of art.”
“The youth is the hope of our future.”
I think a lot of us accidentally took youth for granted. But when we tried to enjoy it, we were ridiculed and forced to grow up.
Especially those that surpassed the age of “child,” even just barely, felt the pressure when they attempted to truly enjoy their childhood by being “childish.”
So rebel.
Go color a coloring book. Solve a book of puzzles. Sleep in a bed of plushies. Go outside and just lay in the grass for a while. Play that game your parents never let you. Take that class you’ve always wanted to. Watch that show you think is interesting even though everyone calls childish—hell, watch it BECAUSE it’s childish; let spite fuel you!
Play, learn, explore—return to that state of simplicity, imagination, and wonder.
As long as it doesn’t harm yourself or anyone else, be a child. Take back your childhood, if even for a few minutes :)
consider: teenagers aren’t apathetic about everything they’re just used to you shitting all over whatever they show excitement about
