Now Nina was intrigued. “How fresh?” She passed the heavy bag towards the girl.
“Yeah I have a few,” A few was a bit too loose of a term, but she always had a thing for artistic expression. To her, tattoos were symbolic. It was like historic artifacts on your skin and she was the archaeologist deciphering a code.
I stared at her for a minute contemplating what to say. “ like three days ago fresh. They still sting a little but nothing that I can’t handle. By the way, it totally flew over my head what’s your name?” I ask her trying to move on from talking any more about my tattoos.
nina-delarosa:
She knew it. Nina didn’t want to make assumptions, but Peyton seemed to be fitting the bill. Nina was not swinging that way.
“Nope. That’s really not my thing,” She said in disgust. Maybe she will get the message.
“ Damn you don’t need to be such an ass. I was just messing around. Next time keep your bitchy judgemental comments to yourself.” I angrily huff at her.
I reach my arm out and snatch the handle of my suitcase out of her hand. I rush to my room number. I jiggle the handle realizing its locked. I grab the crummy key from my pocket and shove it in the key hole. I swing the door open and shut it with a bang. I feel my face is wet and realize I’m crying. I sink down to the floor and lean agaisnt the door crying my eyes out.
missrosalyngrace:
Well, I have a couple double a batteries, that okay?” I shuffle on my fluffy feet awkwardly. “Want some hot-cocoa?” I offer. “I just made a homemade batch, should probably use the rest up before it gets cold.”
On one hand I applaud myself for being so nice. On the other hand, now have to talk to someone.
“Wha-what? let me clarify. you want me to come in? The sketchy tattooed chick that knocked on your door. I could be a burglar for all you know! I’m not but still, you need to be careful who you let in! On the hot cocoa offer, though. Sure.” I lean on the doorway.
After a year of watching CR, the cast’s panels and the Between the Sheets interviews… I think I can safely say that the most important lesson I’ve learned from them is how life-changing it can be to surround yourself with good people.
Surround yourself with people who are open and vocal about how much they love and admire you, who call themselves your biggest fan and who are there to support you through your path to greatness.
Surround yourself with people who enjoy their own interests unapologetically, who genuinely seek for the things that will make them happy and who are not restrained by what people will think of them.
Surround yourself with people who aren’t afraid to show affection through words or physical gestures, who are shamelessly in love with their special other and who see that their love is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Surround yourself with people with healing energy, people who will listen to you attentively, who will offer a helping hand when the world is falling down around you, who will try their best to understand your struggles.
Surround yourself with people that are loud, who aren’t afraid to exist brightly and colorfully, who laugh and cry and have fun and feel with every fiber of their being.
Most importantly, though, be that kind of person. Put positive energy into the world and you will find it coming back to you. This group of nerds is just a taste of what unapologetic genuine shameless love can accomplish. And I feel grateful every day for the reminder that there’s someone out there who, when you least expect it, will show up and love you and make life a thousand times better.

Nina was confused, and now intrigued. What did she have to do at 6:30 in the morning? The intrigue immediately turned to frustration when she blew cigarette smoke in her face. She hesitated before she spoke. Breathe, Nina.
She fixes her hair. “What do you mean?” She spoke spitefully as Peyton continued to walk away.
I stop mid-stride. I just stand there my back towards. The heck is she doing? just yesterday she was disgusted with me and now she wants a conversation? “ I turn my head sideways. “ Two words. Job hunting.” I say with a little bit of a snarl.
nina-delarosa:
This girl was an anomaly. “Okay, then. Well, one of my first one’s is on my neck. It says know your rights. It’s after my favorite band,” She added, trying to make the conversation less awkward. Nina’s face contorted with confusion. Did she look like she wasn’t from around here? “I’m Russian…” She clarified, nodding her head.
“ I have one like that too. I mean a quote, from a band. It’s on my shoulder blade. it says memories take us back, dreams take us forward. “riiinnggg.” My phone rings and hold my pointer finger out. I put the phone up to my ear.” Peyton the hell! I’ve been trying to call you forever! what happened? Shawn screeches in my ear. “Dude calm down. you’re gonna get a heart attack. I’m fine. I’ll call you later.” I say while rubbing my sensitive ear. “What no.” He angrily shouts. “Bye” I snort. “ Don’t you dare-Beep” I end the call.
I look at Nina. “ Sorry about that my friend is a worry wart. Doesn’t know when to take a breath” I laugh.
nina-delarosa:
“I…didn’t ask about Shawn. But cool. Is he your boyfriend?” She inquired, snooping a little more than she needed to as usual.
“My band is The Clash,”
“ Ah no hahaha. I bet he wishes.”
“He’s a good mate of mine Plus he’s a hoe soo.. I’d rather not get an STD.” I pause. “ Damn really? I didn’t peg you for that music type.”
nina-delarosa:
Nina was not expecting that kind of response. “If you were smart, you wouldn’t have fallen through the damn door in the first place,” But she was right, maybe she should help her. She didn’t want to make a horrible impression.
She sighed. “Would you like some help?” She said somewhat sarcastically.
I smile at her. “ I don’t appreciate the sass but thanks. I wasn’t expecting that.”
nina-delarosa:
“I can’t think of anywhere, no. But, there’s a pub not too far down and a grocery store. I would try there first,” She informed her, as they walk down the stairs and out of the residence.
If she was being honest, she was looking for someone to replace her current nanny. Not because she doesn’t like dear old Maggie, but she needed a more reliable person who wouldn’t drop dead at any second. “I never meant to offend you, so I’m sorry for that. I’m just not interested in same sex relationships, that’s all,” She was being honest - although she is a little more prejudiced than that sentence would lead on. She unlocked her scratched up, red car and motioned for Peyton to get inside.
“Could you take me to the pub first?- I’ll take what I can get. I’m not mad about you having your own opinions. That's fine, I have my own opinions too but when you judge me for my opinions that’s when I get upset. Don’t judge me and we’re good. Thanks for the ride, though. I would have had to walk for ages.” I see her wave her hand signaling for me to get in. I go to sit in the back.
Getting up for the day is always the worst. I rub the sleep out of my eyes. I have to get up today to go searching for a job. I get dressed and make sure to but my binder on. I grab a smoke for the walk. Damn forgot the lighter. I open my top dresser to grab my lighter. Putting the cig in between my lips, I lift the lighter to it and light it up. I take a long drag and blow it out in one go. Alright, let’s go face the day. I walk out of my apartment.

nina-delarosa:
“I bet…” She said sarcastically, realizing how bad it sounded after. “I meant to not getting an STD…” She added awkwardly.
“Peg me more of a Russian Opera girl? ” She joked condescendingly.
“ I’ll have you know miss sassy that I’m a very sexy lady.” I wink
“ Nah, I pegged you more for classic or even jazz.”
