Taken aback by her kind words, I say nothing and turn to make her a hot-cocoa. I specifically choose my sassy mug with a a cat on it saying ‘Oops. I don’t care’ figuring it would suit her nicely. “Make yourself at home.” I tell her looking over my shoulder. I hand over the mug and bring my free hand up for her to shake.
”Rosie.”
“Aha, nice mug. I like that cat. so uh thanks for letting me come in.. I didn’t expect you to be so nice. I met the other lady uhh.. Nina I think and she wasn’t exactly welcoming, haha.” As I speak I take a sip and sit down on the white loveseat.
nina-delarosa:.
I don’t hate you, I just don’t know you. Plus, you might feel like the odd one out sitting beside my fiance.
…but, we could plan to do something. If you want. There’s that cat lady across from me that would probably be up to do something as well.
That’s true. ooh, la la. Lovers paradise huh. what’s his name? We should I need to get out of my apartment. It gets so boring. I think I’ve seen that cat lady.. I think she’s the woman who gave me batteries that one time.

nina-delarosa:
Mhm. His name is Caleb. Well if you wanna get a hold of her somehow we could arrange something.
Cool stuff. I’ll get on that. You know she’ll probably ask you and I to come over for a girls night. Haha.

Where Do The Wild Things Go?
December 31, 2021.

Her fist slams into the the wall of her room, now prison. A feral snarl leaving her fresh stitched up-broken lips as her knuckles hit plaster. Her other hand crumples the correspondence letter between blanched fingers.
They clipped her wings. No. They tore them out. Clean political fingers dug deep into the bloody mess of her wings, blood she’d shed in their name. In their service. By the fistful, they pulled, and pulled, and pulled.
The throb of her knuckles, the drip of blood through broken gloves, is non-existent. Not even a steady throb. It wasn’t real.
“They can’t do this!” She rasps, voice trembling. This was all she had. Her use was here, in digging people out of the hell they’ve found themselves in. Grasping arms and pulling them up out of reach of death. Back to safety, back to home. It was not their time, not yet.
“They can’t fucking do this.” Her shoulders begin to shake, dusty near noir hair falling over her face, lungs heaving with an attempt at breath that would not come. Trident 994 was never supposed to happen. All those people. She could have saved them. She knew it, if they had listened.
They had not, and the mantle of death dove in. She did not come back out the same.
Why send her. The Reaper. The decider of those who got to see the ferrymen’s boat. If they did not want her to reap what they had sowed? They had molded her. Fresh and willing, so young.. so naive. Gave her the black cloak and pushed the scythe into her hands and sent her off to swing. They were trying to contain death.
Death could not be contained.
nina-delarosa:
“Three words, want a ride?” She rebuked, dangling her keys after locking her front door. Nina ought to be nice for once.
“ Five words. Yes please and thank you. Aha, Thats probably the only time youre gonna hear those works out of my mouth, is there any place in particular that you know is hiring?- hey, wait is this your way of saying sorry, cause that ain’t gonna cut it” I raise my eyebrow at her.
“ I would appreciate a REAL apology.”

Huh. She was younger than I thought she was. I wonder what her story is.
”Oh I am just fine.” I answer a little too high-pitched.”This is a regular hazard when I talk to any person ever. Anyways, my offer still stands. A cup of hot cocoa, a few batteries and a lighter that may or may not work.” I say, smiling reassuringly.
I jump as she replies to me. “okay if you say so, I’ll gladly take you up on that. Uh, what do you mean a hazard? if you don’t mind me asking. You seem cool.” I smile at her.

nina-delarosa:
Nina was confused, and now intrigued. What did she have to do at 6:30 in the morning? The intrigue immediately turned to frustration when she blew cigarette smoke in her face. She hesitated before she spoke. Breathe, Nina.
She fixes her hair. “What do you mean?” She spoke spitefully as Peyton continued to walk away.
I stop mid-stride. I just stand there my back towards. The heck is she doing? just yesterday she was disgusted with me and now she wants a conversation? “ I turn my head sideways. “ Two words. Job hunting.” I say with a little bit of a snarl.

nina-delarosa:
Shit. She’s done it again. Should she chase after her? Probably not. Disappointed in herself, she went across to Peyton’s room and knocked on the door. “I’m sorry.” There was an awkward silence. “I’ll go now,”
I heard her speak but I was crying ugly tears. I can’t let her see me like this. I say nothing. I get up and shuffle my way over to my bed. “ What a day, If my parents were here they would be laughing at me right about now.” I whimper to myself.
