I don't know if you answered this already but what would great decisions John dory feel about Canon John dory?

The way this quote immediately popped into my head, and I HAD to draw it, tell me this wouldn’t be their dynamic…

Ok ok, I’m sorry, but ooooo this is interesting! Yeesh, uh… He might kinda… Have mixed feelings about the guy.

On one hand, I feel like Canon!JD has a lot of that cocky arrogance that GD!John Dory does not. And he defo would NOT appreciate nor approve of how he treats Branch, or how he acts like he did nothing wrong.

He could also be a bit jealous, deep down. Canon!JD still has a lot of issues, but he’s a lot more put together than GD!John Dory. It would probably be hard to see, an image of what he could’ve been (Not a great image, again, but somebody who appears to be doing a LOT better than him!) He’d see all his faults out in the open, which isn’t the most amazing thing to see.

But on the other hand… They have the same humor. They have similar childhoods, and I’ll bet they could at least chat a bit and form some sort of bond. (Can defo see Canon!JD being like “Dude, bro, I don’t say this lightly, but I think you need like, professional help”😂)

But at the end of the day, I’ll bet the word GD!John Dory would use to describe him would be… Frustrating.

On a scale from “he is going to kill them” to “he is going to figure out everything wrong thing they did put it into the court of law and then murder them in jail” how bad is branch going to react when he sees John.

Branch setting up a trial is everything to me😂

Oh, he’s gonna be PISSED. And even after everything, I imagine this’ll be a grudge he’ll hold for a while for sure. Let’s just say Barb is real lucky Branch is in love with a kind, forgiving soul like Poppy.

Otherwise that boy would be ruthless.

Just popped in to ask if you have any idea of the chokehold you have on me with your talent? You singlehandedly roped me back into the trolls fandom. Your writing is so easy to get lost in, there have been multiple times that I've gone back in Great Decisions to refresh my memories on one thing, but then I obviously should reread the context for this chapter as well, and wait this is right before that one other point in the story that I really loved, I should go further back so I can read it again- and suddenly I blink and find myself awake at four in the morning, having stayed up all night to reread the whole thing because it's so damn good!

I’m so glad you like the story so much! I feel ya tho, sometimes, I want to reread things because the context matters for new stuff I’m writing, and I get kinda lost just reading through everything again! I work really hard to make this story into something beautiful, and I put a lot of time and passion into it, so it always means so much to hear the it shows through!

Excerpt from Chapter 17: That Icy Fear

John Dory could feel himself becoming more and more frantic, but he tried desperately to swallow it down. Branch was talking, he just had to keep him talking… “Ok uh, what’s my favorite kind of berry?”

Branch let out a quiet hum, as if he wanted to speak, but just couldn’t find the energy to move his lips. Panic shot through John Dory, trying not to let it show in his voice as he asked again. “C’mon Bitty, you know this one. It’s small and blue, just like you, remember?”

The young troll didn’t reply. His head dropped further into John Dory’s chest, his breaths scarily slow. This was a stark contrast from John Dory, whose breaths quickened to a point he was nearly hyperventilating, unable to hold back the panic that was now surging through him.

“No no no, please Branch, please.” He begged, a sob building in his throat as he tried desperately to warm his brother’s icy skin. “C’mon buddy, please, I can’t- You can’t…”

This wasn’t happening, this couldn’t be happening… He was losing him. He messed up, and because of that, he was going to lose his little brother. It was all his fault. He was failing, failing, failing…

All at once, his brothers appeared around him, their faces matching expressions of pure panic as they stared down at the small troll in John Dory’s arms.

“John, do something!” Spruce commanded, voice shrill with desperation.

“You’re losing him!” Clay cried out, eyes wide with fear.

“Help him, please!” Floyd sobbed, tears streaming down his face. “Please, John Dory, help him!

“Something black hidden under Hickory’s ginger hair,” huh? I know in your story, you said Hickory’s a Centaur, but could it be possible that he and his brother are still the Yodelers? 😏

Or… Has Yodeler blood! Our dear Hickory is half and half, so he’s got traits from both genres! As for the black in his hair… 😈 Perhaps his Yodeler traits showing through!

I wanted to ask about Tiny Diamond! You said in your Au trolls are born of love, so I was wondering how Tiny came to be. Who did Guy love? Dose he have a partner? Did one of his friend's surrogate? Can you become eggnant with self love, aka just making a genetic copy of you as your kid? Can eggs happen accidentally, or is it always intentional?

ABSOLUTELY!

You are right, Tiny was born from self love! Trolls can either have kids with a partner, or simply just because they love themselves, and want one! In Guy Diamonds case, that’s what is was! Love for himself, and a desire to love/have a kid to love!

Typically, eggs are formed from a strong love/bond between two trolls, and they typically are intentional. However, accidents can happen. Take the BroZone family for example.

John Dory, Spruce, Clay, and Floyd were all intentionally formed from Pine and Sunny’s love for one another (Not necessarily a desire to have kids, considering Pine didn’t really want them). Branch, however, was an “accident”, due to an intense surge of love Pine felt for Sunny for “believing him”, per se.

As we know, Pine went a little off the deep end towards the end there, and he was convinced the world was against him. But Sunny always stayed by his side. From his love for her just being with him through everything, Branch popped up. It doesn’t always happen, but Trolls who have eggs together before are more likely to have “accidents” like that happen.

Idk if that made sense, I tried, I still don’t have it completely fleshed out lol

In honor of Hickory’s introduction into “Great Decisions”, and because so many people are hyped about his design… Here’s a sketch!

I had planned to actually digitize this before I posted this chapter but… School and work have been kicking my ass😂 Maybe some day…

But yeah! Here he is! To give a little deep dive on his design, he’s roughly based on a Mountain Goat (Which is why I tried to shape him the way I did!) I can’t wait to delve more into his character, and in tandem, his design (including fun, hidden features!)

But till then, here’s my sorry attempt at trying to make my image of him come to life!
