you may argue “but how do I know if my work is good without feedback?”
and to that I say, the fact that you are simply creating, connecting ideas and bringing them to life on paper is a process so passionate and beautiful, how could it not be good?
even with spelling errors, even with unfinished ideas, even with a strange writing style - it is still art, and it is beautiful.
No matter what they say, there are no rules to art that define good and bad. You are good, for you are an artist <3
my beloved writers,
you need to seriously challenge your mindset of writing for likes and such. You already know you should write for yourself, so do it.
It does not matter. They are numbers.
If your productivity and motivation are tied to how much positive feedback you get, you are killing the artist inside of you. To be an artist means to not be chained down by anything - not opinions, not feedback, not an audience.
It is no complex, hard task to stop caring. Just stop. Stop caring for it. I promise, it will be the most freeing thing you can do for your mind.
Sincerely,
a long recovered Wattpad-Reads-Obsessor.
can you guys watch my squab for me im gonna go on my smoko
My average writing experience:
"Alright I think I'm almost done actually-"
*Google doc grows second health bar and a choir starts singing in latin*
writer culture is creating a sunshine character and then making them go through so much trauma that they're unrecognisable
yippieeee~ ahahaha~ yaaaaaaaaay~!⋆。°✩
If there’s one tip I can give to writers of all calibers, new or veterans (since a lack of this is even the case with published authors), it must be:
Watch out for your subtext as much as you can.
No matter how genius the worldbuilding, no matter how 3-dimensional the characters, your text will carry a subconscious message, and you have to be careful with it. The way you phrase things, the way you describe certain groups of people does matter a lot.
If you like it or not, your book will send big messages, even if you believe it doesn’t. Make sure you know exactly what those messages are. Be intentional about your subtext. It’s worth a lot.
Alright this one fucking broke me
@softest-punk ‘s amazing writing was the inspiration behind this, ( the text here is from the fic) !please go read their work it is divineee!
i hate it when people are writing a long ass thing and start a parenthetical aside and forget to close parentheses it makes me feel like i cant escape from the sentence
ugghh uaahhfh aaafdhhf a I write about war. Constantly in the trenches. You’re safe and wanted here.
