Oh yes, Transformers Animated is a gem among the others TF shows and Steven Universe is surely more than meets the eyes.... for a shameless plagio.
A quality cartoon series about inorganic, long-lived, humanoid aliens who learn to call Earth home as they protect humanity from others of their own kind and act as parental mentors to a half-human, half-alien child who is learning to wield their powers:
Over the Garden Wall by Patrick McHale.
So apparently back in 2014 there was a really good miniseries that aired on Cartoon Network. It's creepy, charming, clever, and deep.
This miniseries is a thing of beauty - a thing to treasure.
