Things Fresh's stupid glasses say

Hello everybody! I'm back on my Fresh fan nonsense I wanted to make a collage of every time I've seen CQ draw Fresh's sunglasses saying anything that's not "YOLO".

The words on his glasses seem to be able to be changed by him at will, as well as subconsciously(?)... And his host can communicate using them too(though it would probably be incredibly difficult and potentially painful for them to go against Fresh's control like that), their words will just be in a different color than the usual cyan and yellow that Fresh uses.

Context for each:

"OH NO" and "NOLO" - His glasses said that when he was around Sage because he can't stand her

"2EDGE 4U" - His glasses default to this when he possesses UnderFell Sans, it seems like just a replacement for the "YOLO"... so his glasses can probably change to other things while he's still possessing Fell, they'll probably just go back to "2EDGE 4U" after.

"ERROR" - His glasses said this when he possessed Error.

"WHAT" - Ok I'm not even gonna explain this one, it's a lot, baby Fresh is just flabbergasted

"!!! !!!" - Fresh is shocked that Salt would humor the idea of doing drugs

"HO HO" - Festive christmas time! This is a replacement for the usual "YOLO", so his glasses can still change but they default back to "HO HO".

"BRAH" - His glasses say this while he's laughing with Underswap!Sans about something.

"RUDE" - His glasses say this when he's completely ignored by Underswap!Papyrus.

"OH MY" - Another context I won't explain, just know it's from the 'What If Error and Blue were Super Duper Gay' video.

"WHY DO I EXIST" - same context as the "OH MY".

"YOU'RE FUNKIN DEAD" - No context for you, I refuse, if you're curious message me lol

"PLZ end all this" and "Help Me" - His glasses flicker to these words because his Sans host is trying to fight back to communicate with Error.

blank glasses - His grin and silly "YOLO" are gone as Fresh is telling Pacifrisk the serious truth about his faked emotions.

Do you have any canon facts about Fresh? You seem like you know about him a lot so I wanted to ask :')

Sure! If you'd like to know something specific you can ask, but here's some commonly misunderstood aspects of his character.

He doesn't kill his hosts. He leaves them in a weakened state when he's done with them but their soul can recover over time. it's possible for them to get possessed by him again.

He talks using his host. He doesn't have his own voice and as a parasite separate from a host he can't talk, so his voice will only sound like his host's with a different tone. Though it's totally possible but not confirmed that he has a way of mentally talking to his host, it is confirmed that he can hear his host mentally. (He can hear his host in their mind so maybe they can hear him?)

Fresh isn't a disease, a virus, or an infection. He's a heckin parasite, he can only possess one person at a time. He has to physically go into a body and control it. His host's personality doesn't change him at all unless he's trying to pretend to be them, because he has full control. The host can fight his control to do things but this is incredibly painful and can damage their soul significantly more.

Fresh can't feel most things. Fresh lacks most emotions, he can't form emotional connections to people at all. The only things he can feel is fear, a tiny hint of sadism(Meaning seeing people in pain or distress brings him joy), and rarely anger over things he doesn't understand. The fear of death is a natural instinct, as a living creature he wants to survive and continue to live. His joy in suffering of others is a learned feeling, because his entire existence is causing pain, over time his mind has formed a connection, other's pain = his gain, his gain = his survival, him surviving = him feeling content. (His sadism is a very small and muted happiness, it'd be barely amusement to someone with a full range of emotions, but to him it's everything because it's the only way he feels good) The anger over things he doesn't understand was only canonically triggered by one thing, and it was someone sacrificing their life to save someone else. He was so angry someone would do that, because everything he knows is survival, and throwing your own life away is infuriatingly stupid to him, it's too different from his core understanding of life (this only happens when he starts to unlock more emotions like companionship tho).

Fresh is an asexually reproducing parasite. He has no idea of romance, sex, or even the complexities of gender. He doesn't understand love, or any of that. He's physically incapable of basically anything sexual. He does asexually create other parasites tho, he can do this intentionally as seen during Freshmageddon, where he spent three days making more parasites. He will do some things seen as romantic, like kissing, because he doesn't understand the romantic connection and finds the reactions people have funny

Fresh feels everything physical his host body feels. I see stuff in the fandom all the time where Fresh possesses a host and gets them severely injured but doesn't care… This is the opposite of accurate. Fresh can feel everything his host feels physically, but to a lesser extent… and I'd think pain/injury freaks him out because it'd remind him of his fear of death. I don't think he can feel damage inflicted to their soul though, because otherwise possessing people and damaging their soul over time would really suck!

I have my own headcanon that offspring parasites with their own special abilities can use their host’s abilities if they’re 1. Older like Fresh , and 2. Have studied that ability in action

Like Fresh or the ‘runts’ you mention would have some innate sense of how to use their host’s ability, but if a different parasite wanted to use it they’d have to take a more analytical approach to it.  

Liiiike for example my OC Grunge (inspired a lil by Unfresh, I wanted to make a similar concept without the aspects I disliked, then he ended up developing into his own character) has smoke abilities, but he learned how to use his host’s bone magic too :D

The funny thing is, he probably understands his host’s magic better than his own.  He doesn’t even realize his smoke can be used for illusions or suffocation because he keeps using it just to elongate his stupid tentacles and make a smoke cloud similar to Fresh’s poof

He’s also got a different style from Fresh! He’s got a 90s grunge style rather than that neon look Fresh is known for. B)

idk if people really care about parasite OCs, so lemme know below this post if you want me to infodump about this edgy guy.  I’ve got a lot more than him but he’s one of my main ones

how does fresh reproduce?

he reproduces asexually!! More parasites are grown inside the hosts body while he’s in there and he coughs them out (and then crushes them into powder, he HATES the other parasites + they’re competition + they could get him caught in whatever world he’s in if they got loose, they’re flat out a genuine danger to him) though a few do occasionally escape, it’s a LOT of them and they’re small, and that’s how you get fresh parasite ocs!

it’s an involuntary thing that he has to do every so often, but he CAN do it on purpose, like at the ‘freshmageddon’ event in the loveball (which had a gateway to tons of other au’s, which is how people got there!!) where he spent three days straight creating them to infect thousands of universes at once!

the parasites also HAVE to obey him, even if they don’t want to, unless it goes against their deep deep deep core values, and even then, it’s REALLY difficult to! they also can’t create more, unless they live long enough, and the vast majority are also ace, like fresh, same species! (more fresh parasite info under the cut!!)

ALSO! the fresh parasites each have their own specialized power that starts out weak and gets stronger as they age, heavily based on their first host bc that’s what forms their identity the strongest! like instinctively knowin languages, healing, emotional manipulation (my kid, toffee!), telepathy, basically anything under the sun, from overpowered to basically useless - like a power roulette!

fresh doesn’t have this, and neither do ‘runts’ which are born without any powers, which means they can borrow and use the power of their hosts (like fresh using sans’s bone attacks) instead of the host’s magic being ‘overridden’! this means that most regular parasites can’t use their hosts abilities iirc, or can only use it like… REALLY weakly! unlike fresh or the runts, who can harness all of it!

the parasites can also have any color/pattern and don’t have to be strictly 90s-themed like fresh, in fact, they probably wouldn’t be unless their FIRST host was a huge 90s fan! they can have ANY aesthetic imaginable, tho the majority are naturally drawn to bright or clashing colors it’s absolutely possible for one to favor more muted or matching clothes, the one thing they all have in common is the host’s soul in one eye - and they don’t even necessarily need shades to hide it!

in lucidia there are plenty of skeletons without eyelights like salt, so they could theoretically just wear an eyepatch over the soul eye and not have the risk of shades falling off! (i have my own hc that the empty socket is unnerving to other skeletons, even if it looks normal to us it looks off to them but this is JUST a headcanon and not at all backed up!!) get creative bro!!!!

fresh parasites can also feel emotions or not have any, or just feel one or a few emotions really strongly (like how fresh can just feel anger and fear in specific circumstances, a parasite could theoretically feel ONLY happiness, ONLY sadness, i don’t know what other emotions there are, disgust maybe??) there aren’t any concrete rules abt it from what i remember!!!

fun fact! yknow how fresh has many rainbow tongues? those arent tongues! those are parasites! those are sentient dudes. *sticks out my sons i hate to intimate you*

Hello everybody, I've come to give you all this absurd reference guide for drawing Fresh. yep. I decided to spend hours slapping this together.

If I got anything wrong or should add anything PLEEEASE lemme know! All ideas welcome!

If you want to see my "research" on this character, let me know in the replies, because there's so much to talk about with him and I'd love to do a character analysis or two, I couldn't put much about his personality or source posts in this because it's just a drawing guide!

this design for Fresh is Tall, we dunno how tall but taller than CQ's Sans characters (or just Geno since he's literally sans undertale with some added steps). But his height is just his host's height sooo it can vary.

Glasses Off:

The host's soul shows up in their left eyesocket

- The soul tends to look unstable (cracks & a sortve stroboscopic effect.. i couldn't think of a better word.) but not in some cases...

It doesn't have to be a white upside-down heart, that's just a reference to an undertale monster soul.

He has a purple substance full of little RADs that emanate from his eyesockets (when his sunglasses are off)

"The soul in Fresh's eyes CAN be cracked. That soul isn't his. it belongs to his host. And.... after a while.... things go bad for the host, and he needs a new one." -CQ

The purple aura(?) can glow and emanate from the eyes when his glasses are on too

Fresh leaves a rainbow cloud of smoke when he "poofs". Either teleporting him and his host body somewhere or leaving his host behind.

Human Designs:

Fresh can possess humans too.

They all look physically different because they're different people that he's possessing.

Fresh can possess pretty much any body, but I thought I'd show the varied examples of humans anyway

I dunno what's up with the multicolor tongue thing. I think it was extra parasites in the host's mouth? I feel like it was scrapped at some point... but I could be wrong

The REAL Parasite:

Fresh is actually this little parasite controlling a host body. (if you didn't know that why are you reading this post rn!?! but nah I love new Fresh fans, welcome!)

The main parasite is this purple one with the eyemouth and four(?) tendrils, the other colored tentacles are prrrobably Fresh's offspring (freshmageddon moment?) (I'm not actually sure, I'm just pretty sure they're not part of the main parasite but are parasite tentacles)

I know it might be a little late to ask ( I just noticed you allowed questions again), but since Fresh was in Gloomverse would it be possilble for him to get a hat or have magic? If so, what kind/type of magic would he have? ( I know it probably wasn't cannon but I'm just really curious).

If Fresh was in Gloomverse, he’d have really stupid improbable 90s magic, summoning freaking pogs and furbies and skip its and all that nonsenseIt would be really dumb

Happy Valentine’s day!  As an aroace goblin I don’t have much loveydovey stuff to post. But since it’s “Freshuary” I thought I’d compile all the characters that remind me of the Fresh parasite!  (I wanted to do the freshuary drawing prompt thing but i didnt have enough time or ideas lmao)

I freaking LOOOVE this flavor of characters(radical dudes who are actually evil) with a burning passion but simultaneously hate that I love them lol, I guess that’s why the passion’s burning.  I fully blame Alex Hirsch and @loverofpiggies​ for starting my unhealthy addiction

I know this post is old, but it’s freakin’ amazing.  Even to this day people get a lot wrong about Fresh and that makes me sad B’).

Two things I wanna say tho: 1. In my personal headcanon of Fresh, he rarely kills hosts.  It definitely is a choice he has to make and not something that just ‘happens’ because he possessed them.  Though based on this thing CQ said right here:  “His whole existence derives off of manipulating others and possessing them, and the possession hurts the soul he controls, very badly, if they struggle against him.” I do believe if a host fought enough against Fresh they could damage their own soul to the point of death.  That wouldn’t be a good thing for Fresh, and especially not for the host.  But yeah, in my personal headcanon Fresh just avoids possessing a lot of people in the same location by poofing to a different place or whole other universe.  If there’s one person in a whole universe saying they got dragged around by some 90′s-lingo spewing soul-eating parasitic skater starfish, who would believe them? 

Fresh needs as many hosts as he can get, killing off some may not matter in a whole multiverse, but who knows maybe Lucidia works differently.  In my interpretation of Fresh, he would only kill a host if they threatened his survival in some way. 

2. We know that Fresh can possess Error, since CQ made a post about that a long while back, Fresh enjoyed the power of that host.  That’s another facet of Fresh(warning: this is partially headcanon) that people don’t talk about often.  Hypothetically, when Fresh feels secure, when he knows he won’t have trouble getting hosts.. he gets bored.  I’d use loveball as an example of that, it wasn’t just him trying to survive, he was purposefully aiming for more power and control.  If he just wanted to survive he would only need a single host at a time to do that.  This is reflected in him possessing Error, he comments about how that host body was much different from others he’s possessed, hinting that it’s more powerful.  Fresh didn’t have to go forr Error, he didn’t have to go after REAPER in that other comic CQ made either, but he did it anyway.  So, in my opinion.. When Fresh feels comfortable he gets bored, and when he’s bored he can take just a small bit more risk than before, aiming for a goal besides just baseline survival, he wants power.

Holy cow that’s a lot of stuff about Fresh.

So, I see you know that Fresh exists. A lot of people have a lot of ideas about Fresh, and while some are delightful, some just don’t make any sense. I’m here to unofficially address some of the things I see about his character that I wish I didn’t, so buckle up folks, this is gonna be a long post.

PLEASE NOTE that I am NOT CQ. Never have been, never will be(?), and despite my best efforts I don’t know everything about Fresh. To be honest, there are aspects that I’ll headcanon the heck out of, especially in regards to his magic and how possession works and what have you, but I try to make sure it makes sense with what I DO know- some of it’s probably wrong. I accept that. BUT YA BETTER BELIEVE THAT I’VE DONE MY RESEARCH ON WHATEVER’S AVAILABLE.
