AI rant ???
Obviously the age we are alive and able to live in now is amazing, we have so much access to information and connection to others, but anything concerning or connected to the humanities (social, language, etc.) is something that as a society is slowly being removed from the hands of people and being replaced by AI.
As someone who does art (in school and out) it’s annoying to always have to prove that the art you made is yours and not AI. Or the fact that my art teacher last semester used AI to give the class feedback on some of our projects, like what the freak, as a traditional artist is this not something you should be against????
My social studies teacher was more concerned about us using it than the art teacher, and my ELA teacher (who also teaches social studies) brings up how some AI sites are censoring a lot more than others, in connection to certain events in countries like China (Tiananem Square) were when you ask about the event nothing about it comes up, whatsoever.
And the amount of AI being used to post news articles, or using the generative AI on google to get references and information, just put in some work and find the information yourself it will be worth it in the end because you’ll have a deeper understanding of the topic.
What’s worse (it’s not it’s just annoying) is it being used for art and books like wtf bro, those are something used as a creative outlet if you can’t do it yourself have someone do it with you, learn to do it, or don’t do it at all.

I just had to say something about being against AI art even for a cover art of the magazine that the specialized educational facility will publish with their students, I thought even tho most of the people might not understand their art, it'd be still way much more better than AI magazine cover.
So my cousin (one of the teachers from there) just pulled the "then draw bitch u can perfectly draw better than us" card and I said "ok😡" so goodbye to my bnha x batfam and taof fanart drawing for a little bit more time🙂🙂

as someone who USED to use generative ai (character.ai mostly, nothing correlating with ai "artwork." i have ALWAYS HATED ai-generated images) before the apathy and guilt finally caught up to me, i'm so pissed about the ao3 ai scrape. so many works by so many people were fed into generative ai so that sluggish, worthless, negligent "authors" can make their own fanfiction, stolen from actual talented writers who go to that website.
including mine. my book isn't even a piece of fanfiction — it's poetry. poetry describing my deepest, most hidden feelings to the world, even if but only 5 or so people have ever taken the interest to view it. i just locked my fanfiction to registered accounts only, because i'm scared of something like that happening again.
ai should've only been used as a tool to help, and to assist people in need with only small tweaks. instead, it is being used as a tool to create something out of just a singular prompt. people don't want to believe it, but it IS killing artists' livelihoods, slowly but surely.
and this isn't even JUST about visual art. this is about writing, photography, fashion, music, and so much more. all of the arts are SOMEWHERE at risk, just because people would rather be lazy and eat away at the environment instead of either learn or graciously give a real person a few dollars to do it for them.
yes, i DID use to use generative ai. YES, i feel bad for it. and i feel that i sound like a hypocrite because of that. but at this point, growing out of using it and condemning others that still do is better than continuing to use it despite the very real hardships that artists continue to go through because of it.
to other artists who post on ao3: if your work is between the id numbers 1 and 63,200,000, toggle the setting to make it only viewable for registered users. you can view the id number in the url when you copy and paste it.

Lots of thoughts recently. Everything feels plastic.
I could go on and on about why all that AI "art" is bad. I could mention theft, lack of creativity, it's impact on the work field and environment, but countless people have already said all that. I wanted to touch on something that to me is the most utterly wrong about all of it.
Art is more than just something pretty to look at or listen to. It's therapeutic. It's a form of communication. A tool for human connection. It's a pure, human need.

why would you use generative ai when you literally can just sleep and dream? idk about you guys but my dreams are just like an ai generated video or story it’s an amalgamation of random information shoved together just like how ai slop is an amalgamation of information on the internet EXCEPT DREAMS ARE BETTER BECAUSE THEY COME FROM A MIND NOT A COMPUTER
I strongly believe that someone cannot simultaneously be a Tolkien fan and use AI.
The story of The Lord of the Rings is inherently anti-industrialist and pro-environment. Destroying the forces that seek to oppress and harm the environment is a significant part of the plot. AI is a force of destruction. It kills habitats and contributes to climate change.
Not to mention, AI is anti-intellectual and promotes a lack of critical thinking in a world that is rapidly being radicalized toward fascism.
Is it really worth it to destroy the world just for personal convenience? I personally do everything possible to avoid using AI because it's not worth it. It will never be worth it.
I mean, seriously. I'm not gonna tell you to go touch grass because I hate Big Lawn™️, but I will tell you to go touch the bark of a tree. Put your hand in a stream and feel the rushing water. Lay in a prairie and watch the grass wave in the wind. Listen to the birds sing. And then ask yourself: "are the cheap thrills worth it?" "Is the convenience worth it?"
People in charge: the youth want AI they want technology! They want us to move forward with the technology! MORE AI! PUT IT IN EVERYTHING!
Young people: I listen to CDs and would gladly use a flip phone, the chain this rectangle has on me is never ending. I want to live near nature and see my friends often
Anyone supporting AI art, AI chats, and anything in terms of generative AI used for entertainment (with some very minor exceptions) can get off my account. I've engaged in some generative AI for funnies before, and thought it to be silly and harmless. But at the end of the day, art means something because someone made it. You can replicate AI by just doing some casual online roleplay, there's never a shortage of rpers. You can get a free online art program. You can use a cheap mechanical pencil and lined paper and draw something yourself. You can commission someone to get the art done that you really really want. You can put in the goddamned work yourself and make something. It's hard, and I've had millions of bad art days. But those days with bad art, where motivation is scarce, and where I don't have the money for commissioning someone. But (most!! artists still deserve to be paid, but this comes at the detriment of those who can't afford it. A struggle, and neither the artist nor the one who doesn't have the money to engage in it are the real enemy here) true art is free. Some little doodles on math homework. A messy fanfic made past midnight by some random 13 year old. A shitty photography album made with a broken, hand-me-down camera. These all are leagues more impressive, more sacred, and more worthy of recognition than whatever some rando generated by typing a couple words into a machine. AI art is fun! No one should be shamed for finding it fun! Tech crazes are interesting! But once you learn the harm, stop. Keep real art alive.

what all ai tech bros/ai artists/etc. seem to have in common is that they view art as a product to be sold or as content to be consumed, and not as what it actually is.
Because what art actually is, is an expression of human emotions. This is a very flexible definition, but that's also the point, because human emotions are very flexible and varied. Art can help you express and release emotions, be they joy or happiness, but also emotions like sadness, dispair or hatred. And I'm not just talking about high art, I'm including stuff like porn here, because lust is also a human emotion, and "self-gratification" is also just another word for "because it's fun".
AI artists aren't artists for many reasons. Not having the skills to make art isn't even necessarily one of them, but rather that they're completely unwilling to learn the skills, or even learn how to look at art like an artist, because let me tell you, there is very much a difference.
But the one reason, above all, why AI art isn't real art, is because it's not an expression of human emotions. By definition, it can't be. It's not made by a human, it's made by a statistical algorithm. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. Either on purpose, or unknowingly, including to themselves.
If AI art was real art, AI artists wouldn't be generating hundreds of thousands of pieces and not be satisfied with any single one.
The first reason for this is because they're not actually making it. They're giving their control over to a machine and turning their brain off.
The second reason is because there's no emotional release. They're not processing anything. They're not even learning anything.
THAT is why AI art is garbage.
Every time I see an ai video it makes my skin crawl and burn and fall off and then I die.
