Born to create non-osha-compliant mad science machines and mix vibrantly colored mystery chemicals in flasks while cackling maniacally and twitching my cat ears, forced to only be able to meme about it on tumblr
Hey everyone! I'd just like to share a quick message for people who would like some new spooky icons to snazz up their phone, or perhaps were bemoaning the fact discord doesn't have an emote of a bat delivering a letter by default.
These 10 icons, with both coloured and transparent backgrounds in 2000 x 2000 pixel size, and the same resized to 128 x 128 pixels ready to be used as discord emotes, are now available to anyone who donates any amount to my kofi!
(And to those who hate Generative AI, you'll be happy to learn these, like all my art, were all actually hand drawn by me, yay!)
So if in the future you donate to my kofi, first of all, Thank you!
Second, remember to download these emotes and icons to save and keep for as long as you like, I hope you enjoy them ♥

Edric Montagu from The Mummy! A Tale of the Twenty-Second Century by Jane Webb (later Jane C. Loudon)
The novel is from 1827, so he's another one of those 19th century funky little literary mad scientists trying to resurrect the dead and it's great!
This is my design for him because I've been looking and, at the time of writing this, there are basically no posts on here about this book, at all.
So A Tale of the Twenty-Second Century fans, if you exist, here is some fan art. ♥

Me: I’d never fall in love with my lab assistant
Also me: *Makes out with them on the dissection table*
Life update:
Everyday the urge to become a mad scientist grows stronger, and I don’t know if I should fight it or not
Wish me luck
Aggiornamento sulla vita:
Ogni giorno l'impulso di diventare uno scienziato pazzo si fa più forte, e non so se dovrebbero lottare o no.
Auguri di buona fortuna
You know what. I’m starting a new aesthetic, population me.
Romantic Science, AKA Dark Academia for STEM people.
Thrifting a lab coat and embroidering it with your initials and a little insignia, whose significance is known to you and your lab partner only
Watching The Theory of Everything and The Imitation Game and Hidden Figures and basically every movie about historical scientists and mathematicians you can find
Decorating your desk with old slide rules and vintage lab equipment. Your prize possession is a set of vintage lenses you found at a thrift store
Wanting an articulated human skeleton far, far too much
Getting a set of (brand new, NOT thrifted, be safe ppl) beakers to drink from, and putting them directly onto your stovetop to boil water for tea or coffee, because borosilicate glass can survive anything.
Secretly relating far too much to Henry Jekyll and Victor Frankenstein, because you too want to do a gay little science experiment that challenges god.
Thunderstorms and late nights in the lab, the light of the Bunsen burner glistening off of your flasks and scribbled chalkboard equations
Papering your walls with vintage scientific diagrams; even if you know that our understanding of the world has evolved since they were made, looking back at scientific history is amazing
Writing code late at night and feeling, in some metaphysical way, as though Ada Lovelace herself is with you in spirit
Being far, FAR too obsessed with the concept of emergent ai sentience and how it has the potential to be Frankenstein irl
Looking through a telescope on clear nights, whispering the names of the constellations and stars, painting a star chart on your ceiling in a burst of creative inspiration
Collecting and mounting samples from everywhere you can think of to pore over in an antique microscope
Bringing a field journal wherever you go, learning how to draw and label botanical samples, preserving plants and flowers for study later
Dreaming of what undiscovered mysteries lie in the deepest depths of the sea, feeling the thrill of discovery whenever you learn about a new species and one day hoping to discover one yourself
Just. Romanticise STEM.
Sketchdump time because reasons
Cute axolotl person in a style I probably won’t use again
Kinda tribal axolotl thingy
Some sketches for an upcoming project based on “Skullcrusher Mountain” by John Coulton (totally look up all his music for a very good time)
A badly photographed unused project idea
Do you think that, under different circumstances and expectations of each other (and a lot more compromising), Preobrazhensky and Sharikov could've gotten along?
It sounds like an option for a separate AU or fanfiction. But it seems to me that this is not possible in principle. Personally, I like how tense and comedic their relationship is in the book. And here their main confrontation lies not only in the fact that this is a struggle between the Creator and his Creation, not a struggle between the middle and lower classes, but a struggle between two identical and domineering characters. None of them compromise. So Sharikov teases Preobrazhensky for a reason, calling him humiliatingly "daddy-o" (this is a more correct translation of the word "папаша" into English, I heard this translation in an audiobook). Both of these characters are very stubborn. So I think their ideal relationship is to live separately and preferably as far away as possible.
AND ALSO, WHAT THE HELL IN THE FILM ADAPTATION, THEY SOMETIMES SIT ON THE COUCH IN THE SAME PRETENTIOUS WAY.
