I feel like I’m losing you and you can’t even see that I’m scared.

It's a strange spectacle to see how much the community around skeptical inquirer cares about issues of little relevance to culture or power structures
Some people defend this kind of rationalist ideology by talking about, say, anti-superstition activists in India, but those people are admirable for the specific reason that they are undermining hierarchical power structures
A Western skeptic getting angry about Americans venerating ghosts with offerings --- that's not subversive, and it's worthy of contempt!
I both do and don’t believe in astrology partially because I’m agnostic and also because people are annoying about it. I do know my full birth chart and how weird it is. Also I don’t tell people my sign because I’m a Scorpio and they assume bad things about me. But Happy Birthday to me (it’s not today but it’s close)
it does still make me insane specifically how many queer people lovingly embrace astrology. I went to a poetry workshop yesterday that was genuinely quite good but also included an option to disclose astrology designations during introductions and so many people broke out some variation of "I'm a [x] sum but I have a [y] placement and it SHOWS" girl no it doesn't. that's meaningless correlation you completely invented the causation
I feel like this piece requires some explanation. This piece was done for an assignment called “What’s on your mind” and at the suggestion of a friend I decided to do my piece about my experience as a skeptic of religion. I want to be absolutely clear that this piece is not meant to be an insult to any religion symbolized here. In fact, it is a self-deprication of my inability to understand religion. The geometric halo represents my rigid black-and-white (true or false) way of thinking. Even as I “dissect” various belief systems, I have trouble grasping fundamental concepts, such as “faith”. I also noticed during the process of making this piece that openly skeptical views are far more likely to draw dirty looks and the like than mainstream religious views. Somehow, that makes this piece even more important to me.
Thank you for your understanding.
