Very correct!
To add to this, bandits could also be:
- desperate farmers during a bad harvest
- rebels funding their cause
- mercenaries between contracts
- soldiers on campaign, both ally and enemy
- noblemen’s thugs sending a message
- refugees who are completely out of options
Banditry in fantasy and fiction has unfortunately become a sort of shorthand for “low level humanoid enemies you don’t have to feel bad for killing” but it heartens me to see people investing creatively in their settings “bad guys” backstories.
An example of how bandits in fantasy are disconnected from the way real bandits worked is Marion du Faouët, a woman bandit from Brittany in the 18th century.
Bandits in a lot of fantasy are full time bandits. They have no other job, and usually live away from the rest of society.
Marion du Faouët, aside from being a highwaywoman, was a mercer, selling, selling fabrics & cloth.
Because yeah, turn out that there isn't a special group of people called criminals... there is no "criminal society VS honest society", the two are part of a whole.
And fantasy stories should work more on that : seasonal bandits that do crime when they can't do their job. Fishers who do some pirate stuff on the side. Thief guild member that have legitimate job on the side, not just cover.
I can assure you, he's not only alive but quite comfortable.
I seem to recall a reason why Tom Lehrer stopped making new music was because he felt like nothing he could make could match the depraved cruelty and absurdity of the times he found himself in later on.
Anyway, you have to try I suppose.
Fuck the gruesome twosome. Facism will consume itself.
A new cool art from my wonderful partner @xx-k1tsun3-k1d-xx , Check it out!
current hyperfixation + the current shitshow in this joke of a country
A "restrained" flesh-witch from the RPG Heart: The City Beneath. One of my favourite TTRPG's for both how its classes are all uniquely weird variants of common RPG classes and how the worldbuilding is dripping with origionality and flavour.
Also I tried a few visual abberation tricks with this one, hopefully to give it a more eldritch or mystical feeling.
A first attempt in a long while of a proper full-colour piece with shading.
I've always liked Golem's, I think I was introduced to them via RPG video games but Terry Pratchetts depiction of them really put them in my heart. There's always something so powerful and yet sad about them.
me and husbans IRL friend Sam, who would really fit in on tumblr.

Let the world know, husban (@xx-k1tsun3-k1d-xx) is a fiend for fried tofu.
"it is too late Narinder, I have already depeicted myself as the alpha chad and you as the virgin crying soyjack. you are so owned right now."
Me and the husban (@xx-k1tsun3-k1d-xx) doing a lil' dance.
Small quick animations are so fun to make, there's something so special seing the final image come to life.
I don't have a particular song in mind to synch this to, but Move Your Feet by Junior Senior works pretty decently.
#359 ½: Babsol!
Sorry, I really couldn't think of a better name for it.
I always think its interesting when you get non-legendary pokemon that don't have younger or baby versions, and its always a good experiment to take a crack at what you think they'd look like.
Babsol hasn't grown into its swooping hair, or elbow spikes, or horn yet, but it still has eerie portents of the future to deal with. Not having learned to deal with such things yet, they can be a little emotional and moody but are easy enough to get along with with a little care and understanding. we've all been there Babsol, we were all teenagers once.
Absol itself reminds me of the Sphinx or those man-headed lion bodied and winged things you get in babylonian mythology. beast with the face of man telling you things you might not want to know.
little bugger has major neopet vibes too.
I love these, they make me think of something written by an elder god or a yith in lovecrafts work.
I like to imagine the first is a user manual on shoggoth maintenance, the second is a self portrait through the means of what the portraitee has in their pockets right now, and the last is a formal essay of some sort.

I’m the boyfriend mentioned! Girls night is deadly.
watching bf play the salmon run tutorial and he points out that Maws is referred to by she/her and now every time one of however many of them are on the map kills us it’s like “rip another tragic victim of girls night </3”
I’ll have to steal this idea for my Blades in the Dark games!
Also, you could reverse the process to inject poison, acid, or pressured air to really fuck people up
Syringe + Rapier concept. Two in one.
Hematomancers use this sword to collect fresh blood, as well as release blood in attacks.
Fresh natural blood is used for many things, including healing. Void blood is taken from demons, and is commonly used as ammunition thanks to it's destructive, toxic properties.
Hematomancers can keep the vials of blood in their arsenal, or they can sell it in markets.

KHALIDA DANCE
I’m about a year or so late on this meme, but I thought it was fun to make a little animation of everyone’s favourite snake obsessed vampire exterminator.
Despite the Golden Tuber's immensity and power, it is lodged firmly in the earth and cannot move its vast bulk. Lo, it has transformed its most faithful into rooty forms than can enact its will upon the people!
Bits and pieces of the old Orthadoxy and Pagan beliefs are stirred into the starchy stew that is the new faith, sometimes literally as these priests can give themselves bodily unto their parish. More than one proselytiser has ended up in their followers bellies to sate the unnatural hunger that pervades the lands.
Turnip 28! I love the setting and the amazing amount of world building and model kitbashing you can do with it.
This is my first landscape piece in a long time, and whilst I'm not super happy with the paint/texture on the temple I'm pretty chuffed with the work I did on the ground and sky.
The idea behind this is that in the far east and even farther north of the world of Turnip 28, lies a country in the thrall of a devious & dominating vegetable intelligence. It claims cultish dominion over the lands that used to be eastern europe in the world of T28, and is ever seeking to spread its sinister (and delicious) tubery tendrils into the rest of the world. One day all shall join in its starchy communion!
Trying a handful of different things with this one.
I wanted to try to draw a fantasy dwarf without the usual visual identity I give them, hence no shoes or arm coverings. Just a large metal chain vest and a bucket-helm, both made of bronze instead of iron. Also a gray-blue skin as I think it'd be neat if dwarfs had their own unique skin colours often effected by nearby metals (as silver poisoning can make your skin turn this colour)
Also wanted to give the off-aligned colour thing that you often see in screen printing a try.
